We are reading from the Sri Caitanya Caritamrita Adi lila

chapter 4 text 182
Text 182
“(The gopis think:) “ I have offered this body to Lord Krsna. He is it’s
owner, and it brings Him enjoyment””
Text 183
“Krsna finds joy in seeing and touching this body. It is for this reason
that they cleanse and decorate bodies”
Text 184
“O arjuna, there are no greater receptacles of deep love for Me than the
gopis, who cleanse and decorate their bodies because they consider them
Mine”
This verse is spoke by Lord there is nothing else ….and that’s
Krishna. So the gopis are the what it means.
most surrendered devotees to
Krishna and they are doing
everything for Krishna, whatever
Krishna wants.

And it’s not so bad, nobody is

unique we are all having our false
egos and we are all having our
impurity and therefore everyone
is, everyone is struggling with
surrender, it is a difficult thing.
It is explained in the Hari
Bhaktivilasa I think…sanskrit..
The point is that the surrender
consists of six phases these
phases are to accept whatever is
The gopis are ready to jump, so favourable to the Lord and to
the gopis are our example.. what reject whatever is unfavourable to
can we do…somehow or other the Lord. So that means for the
everyone has to conquer pleasure of the Lord.
something in Krishna
consciousness within ourselves
and that goes on eternally.
The gopis however are very
happy to surrender to Krishna but
still Krishna makes it difficult for
them at times. That is the nature
of Krishna. He throws up always
new difficulties to all of us. Why
is he doing this? The purpose is This doesn’t mean according to
that Krishna indeed wants to our own liking or disliking, it’s
increase our surrender, again and really the pleasure of the Lord
again and he makes arrangement and .so everyone, everyone in
for that, because that is the entire this room and practically
basis for Krishna consciousness, everyone outside this room has
difficulties with that, it is a
difficult thing to do because
sooner or later some situation explained that when Lord
comes where it’s getting too Chaitanya appeared, there were
much. So we are not pointing at two types of reasons why Lord
anyone in particular, we are Chaitanya appeared, one was the
pointing at ourselves that we are internal reasons and the other
also struggling with this, it is a were the external reasons for the
common problem in Krishna appearansce of the lord .
consciousness.

Still we have to practice this, just

as a sportsman is trying to build
up his strength by exercising
stretching his muscles by
exercising and in the same way a
devotee in Krishna consciousness
is trying to stretch his surrender
to the Supreme Lord.

The internal reasons being the

Lord’s personal reasons, it is said
that Lord Chaitanya had three
principal purposes of his own to
appear in this world. They are the
internal reasons and the external
purposes were for delivering the
conditioned souls.
And the gopis are the emblem of
the topmost surrender there is no,
there are no more surrendered
devotees than the gopis of
Krishna. So this chapter four of
the Adi Lila is explaining the
internal purpose of the Supreme
Personality of Godhead. It is
The first purpose was to relish the
position of Srimati Radharani
who is the primary reciprocator of
transcendental love for Sri
Krishna. Then the second reason
was to understand the
transcendental mellow Himself,
Lord Krishna’s all sweetness. So
the first reason is Lord Chaitanya
wanted to experience the postion
of Srimati Radhrani and then
being in that position He would
get an impression of Himself so
he wanted to know what is so
sweet about Me.
Those are the three aspects of the
internal reasons why Lord
Chaitanya appeared in this world.
The other external reason which
happened simultaneously is that
the Lord wanted to deliver the
conditioned souls. So this chapter
is dedicated to the internal reason.
It is said that this is an
explanation of the verse which is
he fourth verse of the beginning
of the adilila, that fourth verse
is:known as ….sanskrit…

And the third reason was He

wanted to enjoy the bliss tasted
by Srimati Radharani. So Lord
Chaitanya wanted to be in the
mood of unalloyed devotional
service as Srimati Radharani
does, He wanted to taste His own
sweetness and then He wanted to
know the bliss of that pure
devotional service.
.
“May that Lord who is known as It means that there is no other
the son of Srimati Sacidevi be desire in our heart contradicting
transcendentally situated in the anything. It is simply that
innermost chambers of your heart whatever is the pleasure of Krsna
resplendent with the radiance of that we will fulfil.
molten gold, He has appeared in
the age of kali by His causeless
mercy to bestow what no
incarnation has ever offered
before, the sublime and radiant
spiritual knowledge of the mellow
taste of his service”

So this is very exalted and in this

verse it is explained that one must
accept Chaitanya Mahaprabhu in
the innermost core of his heart
which means that the central
theme of that verse is unalloyed
devotional service or full
surrender.
