LITERATURE REVIEW According to Austin (1992), a new online magazine for teachers,

administrators, and parents that provides practical solutions and information about teaching students with autism and related needs. The need for professional development and peer guidance for those teaching children with autism is present like never before. Teachers and administrators are searching for unique and creative methods to fill this need. The online publication, Autism Classroom Magazine, provides them with solutions on a monthly basis.

Nelson Rodriguez T. and Lee H. Hansen states that Readability formulas are designed to provide quantitative estimates of the relative difficulty of pieces of writing. Formulas developed to date have been designed to be used across materials of varying difficulty and with subjects of varying ability and maturity. This study explored the extent to which an increase in the accuracy of a specific readability formula could be obtained by norming it for a restricted set of reading materials and subjects. Using the earlier work of Bigmouth, the authors constructed readability formulas from cloze data

gathered on textbook, newspaper, and leisure reading passages administered to seventh graders.

Mark N. Popovichs (1983-1993) study reflects that this literature review examines quantitative magazine research studies published in various journals during the period 1983-1993. The results of this examination echo the findings of previous studies which questioned the heavy reliance on content analysis techniques by magazine researchers to study the role of magazines in American society. According to Carol Ann Holcomb and Marjorie Stith, Readability formulas were used to calculate the difficulty level of randomly selected passages from 16 parent education publications. Raw scores and reading grade levels were derived from the language variables specified by six formulas. Significant (p = .001) correlations (Spearman Rank-Order) exist between all sets of formulas. Reading levels varied by three or four grades in 15 of the 16 publications. At least a high school level of reading ability would be required to comprehend ten of the publications. The newer, less timeconsuming formulas are reliable substitutes for the older, more time-consuming ones. Implications for parent education are presented.

William S. Gray (May, 1947), states that the rationale behind study is to know progress of readability of journals, newspapers, text books and magazines. This study reflects total progress and preferences of consumers or customers towards reading habits and there are enormous changes in readability because of international exposure of media, changes in contents, use of material in the paper, etc.
