Our benevolent offering will be designated for Lakeshore Pregnancy Center in both the AM & PM services. After morning services, please join us for our monthly fellowship luncheon at 12 noon. Please bring your own place settings and beverages; as well as a main dish and a side dish to share! Baptisms in September - Cedar session is pleased to announce the upcoming baptism of Isaac James Knot, son of Jim & Elizabeth Knott on Sunday morning, September 18th. We will also witness the double baptism of Lovelynn Kay Stanley, daughter of Dave & Kelsey Stanley and Kenner Jaymes Baum, son of Jay & Mara Baum on Sunday morning, September 25th. Soli Deo Gloria! Ladies Ministry Planning Meeting - On Wednesday, September 7th at 7:00 PM, all Cedar ladies are cordially invited to the home of Deb Grysen for the annual Womens Ministry planning meeting. At this one hour meeting, each committee chairman will turn over her committee duties to her committee co-chairman, and then we will select new cochairs to assist each committee for 2011-2012. Please consider 2 or 3 ministries that might interest you so that you can volunteer for an open slot. Our ministries include the following: Bereavement, Correspondence, Girls Ministry, Youth Group Food, Meals, Nursery, Refreshments, Fellowship Luncheon, Special Events, Womens Bible Study, and Womens Ministry Coordinator.

WEDNESDAY NIGHT IS FAMILY NIGHT AT CEDAR OPC On September 14th, Cedar Church invites you to participate in our midweek service every Wednesday at Hudsonville Christian School from 7 PM to 8:30 PM. Nursery will be provided. To help us with our planning, please sign up for these groups on your connection cards. Topics include the following : Bible Study & Prayer Meeting Pastor Mick Knierim will lead a Bible Study through the Book of Hebrews, Part 2. The time will also include a period of prayer requests and intercessory prayer. Ladies Bible Study Stephanie Haywood will lead a ladies Bible study using the book No Other Gospel: Finding True Freedom in the Message of Galatians by Carol J. Ruvolo. Catechism Club Lynn Igo & Deb Grysen will lead Children Ministry Internationals Catechism Club for kids age 4 through 2nd grade. Catechism is designed to teach kids the basics about the Christian faith through simple questions and answers. We will promote memorization using Bible teaching, music, skits, crafts, activities, and more. Cadets We have a great boys club called Cadets, led by Elder Ted Himebook, Tom Dykema, Jim Knott and Craig Coleman. Boys 3rd grade and up will meet together for exploring, projects, meeting new friends, Bible study, outings and much more. Girl's Club Girls Club (for girls 3rd grade and up) will resume this year under the leadership of Pam Himebook and Carin Hartwell. Friendship, crafts, and activities will accompany a great time of Bible Study and prayer. Nursery - Childcare will be provided.

FALL MINISTRIES AT CEDAR Jr. High & Sr. High Youth Group Beginning September 18th, Youth Group will meet every 1st and 3rd Sunday in the school gymnasium after evening worship from 7:00 to 8:15 PM for food, fellowship and fun together. The purpose of this ministry is to disciple youth, strengthen relationships among youth & with adults, and to assimilate young people into the faith and life of Cedar Church. Ladies Bible Study Beginning September 20st, Vivian Garen & Joan Broene will lead the Ladies Bible Study every 1st and 3rd Tuesday from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM at the home of Steve and Lynn Igo. The ladies will study of a 30 Day Walk with God in the Psalms by Nancy Lee DeMoss. Childcare is provided. Newcomers are always welcome! LOVE, Inc. This year, Cedar Church will now host several studies at Love Inc each week, a Bible study and a discipleship class. We meet with Love Inc. clients from 7 to 8 PM at Hillcrest CRC in Hudsonville. The elders would like to encourage members of Cedar to volunteer as both teachers and Financial Counselors. For more information about training, please see Pastor Steve. Holland Rescue Mission Cedar Church hosts a monthly worship service every other 1st Thursday at 7 PM at the Holland Rescue Mission. The service involves teaching or preaching, as well as special music and testimony. Please see Dean Bekkering for more information. Sunday Jail Ministry - Every 5th Sunday, Cedar Church will host a Sunday service at the Kent County Jail from 12:45 PM - 2:15 PM. Several times a year, we will also host a service at the Ottawa County Jail from 1:45 PM 3:00PM. For more information, see Pastor Steve or Elder David Van Dyke.

FALL SUNDAY SCHOOL MINISTRIES On September 11th, our new Sunday School quarter will begin for adults and children of all ages as follows:
Theology Class Our Sunday morning theology class will be led by co-teachers David VanDyke and Craig Baker. Topic: The Pursuit of Godliness by Jerry Bridges. Location: Gymnasium. Womens Group Our Sunday womens group will study Putting Amazing Back into Grace by Michael Scott Horton. Teacher: Rebecca Van Dyke. Location: Art Room. Adult Bible Study Our Sunday morning Bible study will meet in the north hallway alcove. Sr. High Class This fall, our senior high class will study The Church in History through brief weekly readings assignments and class discussions. Teacher: Pastor Steve & Lynn Igo. Location: Teacher's Lounge. Jr. High Class Jr. High students will study Promises, Promises all about Gods covenant. Teacher: Bill Grysen. Location: Southwest Teacher's Lounge Room 1. Older Elementary Class 5th 6th grade students will study Genesis, creation, fall, flood, the Abrahamic covenant, the patriarchs and Joseph. Teacher: Reese Haywood. Location: Southwest Teacher's Lounge Room 2 Middle Elementary Class 3rd - 4th grade students will study Worshiping God, the joys and duties of worship. Teacher: Diana Sprik. Location: Library Hallway. Early Elementary Class 1st 2nd grade students will study Living Together, stories from Genesis about God and his people. Teacher: TBA. Location: Resource Room. Preschool Class 4s & K students will be discovering the creator through his creation, God Created All Things. Teacher: Kaitlyn Hartwell. Location: West Classroom. Toddler Class - 2s & 3s will study God's Family, beginning the line of promise from Adam through Joseph. Teacher: Stephanie Haywood & Dawn DeWent. Location: Library Hallway. COMMUNITY ANNOUNCEMENTS 2011 OPC Family Camp Talks Available - This years OPC Family Camp featured Dr. James Herrick speaking on the topic, Technology and Spirituality. The talks are now available for listening at http://www.harvestopc.org/ministries/sermons/?service=11. Celebrating the Progress of Redeemer OPC - Save the Date!! Redeemer OPC in Ada is planning a Celebrating our Progress dinner for the purpose of reviewing the progress on their plans for the building that is now in progress and hearing an update on the capital campaign. Anyone is welcome to come to this event at Kuyper College on Saturday, October 1 at 6:00 PM. The Baker/Pasma families will be giving a concert after the dinner and presentation, with everything concluding at 9:00 PM. Zion Christian School Golf Outing - Plan to join us this fall for our 11th annual Mountaineer Golf Outing at Diamond Springs Golf Course on Saturday, September 24. Registration is at 7:30am with play beginning at 8:00am. Cost is $100 for adults and $75 for students. Hudsonville Health Fair will be held Wednesday October 5th from 9:00 AM 2:00 PM at Hillcrest Christian Reformed Church at the corner of 36th Ave and Hillcrest Road in Hudsonville. Bingo, Chair Massages, Flu shots, Seminars and over 40 vendors are just a few highlights! Please join us for a day of fun at the Hudsonville Health Fair! Dance Class - Does your daughter want to learn the art of ballet? Classes will be held at Fellowship Reformed Church in Hudsonville on Saturday mornings starting in September and ending in the spring with a recital showcasing all that the girls have learned. Estrangement Support Group - Pine Rest SW Clinic in Grandville is offering a monthly support group for parents and other family members who have adult children who have chosen to refuse contact or give access to their contact information. The Bible is sincerely loved, and we hope that you will find it opened up to you in a fresh and faithful manner each Sunday. A NURSERY is available near the entrance of the gymnasium, but children are always welcome in the worship service. COFFEE BREAK After the morning worship, please join us in the foyer for coffee and refreshments. KIDS BREAK After morning worship, all kids (pre-school thru 6th grade) are invited to remain in the gymnasium for snacks and fun songs with Mr. & Mrs. Himebook.
