A woman was killed and her son was
wounded in a shooting during a
predawn home-invasion robbery Friday
in Richmond, police and neighbors said.

Jacobs’ husband, Darnell Jacobs, 63.

“This shouldn’t happen to a family like
that,” he said. “This shouldn’t happen to
any family.”
About a week ago, Saroj Kumar and Prasad
were robbed at gunpoint on Tulare Avenue,

He said he didn’t know whether the two
incidents were related, “but it’s awfully
strange.”

markers of the horrors that occurred there

investigators do not believe the two cases

Dinesh Kumar, a school-district custodian,
got into a scuffle with the intruder and
was shot, authorities said. He was listed in
critical condition Friday evening.

In the appeal hearing of former Post Fiji
executive Mahendra Patel at the Fiji Court
of Appeal yesterday morning, Queens
Counsel (QC) Guy Reynolds argued that
FICAC lawyers have yet to respond to
most of his submissions.
Representing Patel, QC Reynolds said out
of the 37 submissions that he made to the
four judges, FICAC prosecutors have only
responded to only half of them.

for making “substantial progress” in
World Bank in 2006.

Laundering and Combating the Financing
of Terrorism (AML/CFT) Framework at
the 14th Annual Plenary Meeting of the
