Assembled Kit AK # 21 3001

The FUNCOPTER is the perfect first or second step into the world of model helicopters. Above all it is the logical next move for any model flyer who has gathered some initial experience in flying co-axial helicopters, and is now looking for a new challenge. Its a great choice - and will not strain the modelling budget! FUNCOPTER has to be your first choice in terms of both price and quality. Its impressive features are its resistance to crash damage, its patented folding rotor blades, and the blades mounting. All these advantages help to keep your outlay for replacement parts within easily affordable limits. The design of the machine is based on the proven, patented ideas incorporated in the LMH (Lite Machines Helicopters - familiar machines the world over), combined with our own ideas to create an unusual helicopter which provides almost unlimited flying fun - especially if you are a relatively inexperienced pilot. The FUNCOPTER is supplied completely assembled and adjusted. The helicopter offers many fascinating features, not least its extremely quiet direct drive system (no gears) which produces a very unusual sound. The mechanical system is assembled from just a small number of parts, and is of straightforward construction. This makes the FUNCOPTER extremely easy to maintain and repair. The front fuselage is a slide-in component which can be disengaged with a push-button and pulled off as a unit; this provides unrestricted access to the interior and the battery compartment, making it fast and easy to replace the flight pack. The FUNCOPTER really is designed for sheer fun, and its ingenious overall design and many neat technical details make it unique: you just cant fail to have fun with it. Its simple to control, and you can expect to fly it successfully within a very short time. A simple four-channel radio control system is all thats needed to control the model; no mixers or other complex settings are required at the transmitter. The plus points: With its consistent overall design the machine is ideal for beginners to helicopters, modellers moving on from co-ax machines, and helicopter pilots wanting a minimal-risk practice chopper. Fixed pitch helicopter no adjustments required: full control using yaw, pitch-axis, roll and throttle functions Different blade holders for matching to different payloads (battery size) Easy to repair (simple construction, few parts, few screws) Retail packaging converts into convenient transport case Full-body fuselage with modern, attractive looks, easy to see in the air Fuselage made of ultra-robust EPP particle foam; heavy-duty plastic parts (Whisper-quiet) direct-drive power system Long flight times - up to fifteen minutes with 3000 mAh battery Robust, virtually indestructible construction: flexible rotor blades which fold upwards, special sprung landing gear and ungeared power system.

Merlin

The little magician

# 21 4237

The name Merlin can apply equally well to the famed magician or the small falcon, and both descriptions are valid for our little racer. Finally we can offer a mini-format model with a full-size performance. Its an all-in solution with many clever detail features, but above all its compact design means that it can accompany you wherever you go. Our Merlin is agile and nimble, while its small size makes it terrific fun to fly even at small slopes. With its low weight and robust ELAPOR construction the risk of airframe damage is low, but despite this the model can cope remarkably well in windy conditions - this is where the falcon aspect of its nature comes into its own. When flying aerobatics Merlin the Magician comes to the fore: the powered version in particular is capable of the wildest aerobatic manoeuvres you can imagine. When the model is complete, it can be transported conveniently in the retail packaging. The aeroplane features a practical hatch in the underside through which the battery can be changed quickly and conveniently.

The plus points: Simple and quick to assemble - in the air very quickly The model can be completely dismantled for transport Packed size only 11 x 18 x 61 cm Optional transport bag with strap attachment (# 76 3316) Can be built as a glider or in an electric version (with power set # 33 2653) Docile flying characteristics Raised ailerons as landing aid High-quality plastic components Major parts moulded in ultra-durable ELAPOR foam Carefully matched power system gives great agility; optional increased performance by changing propellers (both sizes included in the power set)) Li-BATT BX 3/1-450 mAh flight battery

At many slopes and flat-field flying sites you will find dozens of flying wings. These models are usually cut from various grades of foam and stiffened with parcel tape. The Xeno is a superior version: more elegant, of higher technical quality, and offering loads of convenience as well as excellent flying fun. When designing the Xeno we made good creative use of the possibilities of 3-D CAD / CAM techniques and modern foam moulding technology. The result is an interesting shape with an unmistakable appearance. For ease of transport the Xeno can simply be folded together in a few seconds, and in this state it can be carried safely and conveniently in a rucksack or similar. Rigging the model for launch also takes just a few seconds, and converting it to electric power and back is almost equally rapid. With its simple construction and high level of pre-fabrication it only takes two or three hours to assemble the Xeno (i.e. one evening - it really doesnt count as construction!) The plus points: Requires just a simple radio control system with delta mixer Numerous high-quality injection-moulded plastic parts provide interesting detail solutions Strong and rigid without the need for taping - thanks to ELAPOR construction Removable / replaceable fins The finished model can be folded together, making it very easy to transport Good-natured flying characteristics, simple to fly (great for beginners), stall-proof Broad speed range - a genuine fun-flyer! M-LINK MULTIPLEX 2,4 GHz FHSS System

M-LINK is a new radio transmission system from MULTIPLEX. It operates on the 2.4 GHz ISM band, and is based on modern Frequency Hopping Spread Spectrum technology. The features of M-LINK are as follows: Automatic RF channel management The need for the user to change the RF channel (plug-in crystals, Synthesizer) manually is eliminated. 2.4 GHz Spread Spectrum systems divide up the frequency spectrum automatically, and for this reason conventional frequency monitoring control is no longer needed. Interference due to channel clashes (as is possible on the 35, 40 MHz bands) is virtually eliminated. When the system is first used, all you have to do is bind the transmitter and receiver using a simple binding procedure. Once this is done, the receiver only recognises and processes the signals broadcast by its own transmitter. Fast, accurate transmission of up to sixteen servo channels Depending on the transmitter in use, the new MULTIPLEX M-LINK standard transmits: - twelve servo channels at 14 ms pulse rate - sixteen servo channels at 21 ms pulse rate at 12-bit resolution (3872 steps) Feedback capability / Telemetry The 2.4 GHz ISM band provides the means of transmitting data from the model back to the transmitter. The receiver in an M-LINK system transmits the voltage of the receiver power supply to the transmitter in real time. If the voltage falls to a dangerous level, the transmitter generates a warning signal to alert the user. Additional external sensors (e.g. voltage, current, temperature) can also be connected to M-LINK receivers designed for this facility. Diversity and dual-receiver operation MULTIPLEX M-LINK DR (Dual Receiver) receivers are of very sophisticated construction, and feature two complete receiving circuits in one case (receiver diversity). Both circuits receive constantly, and the circuit compares the signal quality; at any one time the better signal is selected for further processing, and is passed on to the servo outputs with zero delay. If reception conditions are critical, and / or the model is particularly valuable, two receivers can be coupled together in the model; this minimises signal reflections and polarisation effects which are typical of 2.4 GHz, and represents the highest possible level of security. Frequency Hopping Spread Spectrum technology (FHSS) The transmitter and receiver jump (hop) from channel to channel at the same rhythm, at intervals of just a few milli-seconds. The control data is actually transmitted during a fraction of this time. It is this brief period of occupation of each channel which minimises signal conflicts and suppresses interference. Even if individual data packets are lost on individual channels, the constant high-speed process of hopping from channel to channel renders the interruption invisible to the pilot. Great range The MULTIPLEX M-LINK system exploits the Frequency Hopping Spread Spectrum (FHSS) process. The radiated power approved for this system is 100mW EIRP, and in practice this results in radio range of more than 2000 m on the ground. In the air the effective range is even higher due to the more favourable propagation conditions. In simple terms this means an ample margin of safety, even for large-scale models. High data transmission security The enormous bandwidth available on 2.4 GHz makes it possible to transmit much greater quantities of data than is possible, for example, on the 35 MHz band (bandwidth 2.4 GHz = 83.5 MHz; 35 MHz = 1 MHz). Digital modulation in conjunction with sophisticated error-checking and correction in the receiver ensure excellent data quality. High resistance to interference Typical interference sources in the model, such as electric motors, electronic devices such as speed controllers, ignition units for internal combustion engines etc., generate interference over a spectrum whose maximum frequency is far below the 2.4 GHz range. This simply means that 2.4 GHz systems are virtually immune to interference from these sources, and this results in a further improvement in safety. HOLD / FAIL-SAFE function If the receiver detects data which has suffered interference and is irreparable, it passes on the last valid data to the servos, thereby bridging the period of the signal loss (HOLD mode). If interference continues beyond the (variable) HOLD period, FAIL-SAFE is activated, i.e. the receiver moves the servos to a programmable safety position (e.g. throttle off, control surfaces neutral). The FS positions are stored using a push-button at the receiver; some transmitters include a menu for this, enabling the Fail-Safe positions to be set by radio.

12

M-LINK 2,4 GHz System

Short transmitter / receiver aerials The typically short 2.4 GHz transmitter aerials are more robust and easier to handle than conventional telescopic aerials, and they also do not interfere with the pilots field of view. Short receiver aerials are much easier to install in the model. High vibration resistance Small, modern, highly integrated transceiver ICs replace ceramic components, coils and filters, all of which are susceptible to damage from vibration. Ready for LiPo All MULTIPLEX M-LINK receivers feature a wide operating voltage range of 3.5 - 9.0 V, and are therefore largely immune to collapses in the power supply voltage. They are prepared for use with 2S LiXX batteries without voltage stabilisation to (typically) 6.0 V. World-wide approval Apparatus operating on the 2.4 GHz band can be used world-wide. The components of the MULTIPLEX M-LINK system fulfil all current directives and statutory requirements. Update-capable All transmitters and receivers are equipped with modern Flash memory micro-controller technology, and can therefore be updated at any time. This means that system components can be brought up to the latest state of software development when technical innovations are introduced in the future, or when changes are made to regulations.

You can also set up an on-screen display of supplementary telemetry data from the model (this requires sensors connected to the receiver, e.g. voltage, current, temperature). Typical applications: motor temperature, flight battery voltage, motor current drain. See page 21 for details of telemetry sensors. Low latency, high resolution The ROYALevo and pro have always featured a digital RF module interface. Unlike many other 2.4 GHz transmitters or retro-fit modular solutions, this means that the data does not have to be converted from conventional PPM or PCM format to the digital 2.4 GHz transmission format. The net result is that the system is capable of transmitting highresolution, accurate control signals at very high speed. The ROYALpro with M-LINK operates with a servo pulse rate of 14 ms in twelve-channel mode (21 ms in sixteen-channel mode) and 12-bit resolution (3872 steps). Quick-convert facility If you wish to continue using your existing stock of receivers (PPM, M-PCM) utilising conventional FM technology, you will be interested in the quick-convert facility. It is possible to convert the transmitter at the flying field in less than one minute. All you have to do is remove the HFM4 M-LINK 2.4 GHz RF module from the transmitter, withdraw the 2.4 GHz aerial from the aerial sleeve, and fit a conventional FM RF module and long telescopic transmitter aerial instead. Note: A retro-fit option is available for existing ROYALevo and ROYALpro transmitters utilising conventional FM transmission technology (see page 18).

This M-LINK 2.4 GHz RF module is designed to be fitted to ROYALevo and ROYALpro series transmitters. The procedure is very simple: first you must update* the transmitter firmware by carrying out an Internet update. To accomplish this you will need the ROYALpro DataManager PC program (free download from www.multiplexrc.de) plus the USB PC lead, # 8 5148. The new firmware automatically detects whether the transmitter is fitted with a conventional FM RF module or the 2.4 GHz RF module. The next step is to remove the long telescopic transmitter aerial and the FM RF module from the transmitter. Plug in the HFM4 MLINK 2.4 GHZ RF module, and slip the 2.4 GHz aerial (connected to the module) into the aerial sleeve. This procedure integrates the new transmission technology into the transmitter without requiring any modifications, and the result is also visually attractive. The transmitter can even be converted from 2.4 GHz back to conventional transmission technology (35, 40, MHz) at the flying field, as the procedure takes less than a minute to complete.

HFM3 M-LINK 2.4 GHz RF module

# 4 5610

The HFM3 M-LINK RF module is designed for the legendary MULTIPLEX PROFI mc series. PROFI mc 3010, PROFI mc 3030 and PROFI mc 4000 transmitters can easily be converted to the new MULTIPLEX M-LINK 2.4 GHz transmission technology using this module. The conversion is accomplished by installing the 2.4 GHz aerial (with LED button for operating the 2.4 GHz RF module) in the transmitter together with the new aerial support plate, making a stylish combination. The special modes of operation Binding and Reduced Power (for range checking) are simply and conveniently activated using the newly installed LED button; this eliminates the need to use inaccessible internal buttons which may be difficult to operate. At the same time the LED supplies information about the operational status of the 2.4 GHz RF module, e.g. normal operation, binding or reduced-power mode for range checking. If you use a receiver with telemetry facilities (min. RX-7-DR MLINK or RX-9-DR M-LINK), and the actual voltage of the receiver power supply falls below a (variable) minimum value, an audible warning signal alerts you that your receiver battery is almost flat. This means that you are constantly aware of the state of the receiver battery, as well as the condition of the transmitter battery (as previously). An important extra safety feature!

# 7 5810 If you install the HFM3 M-LINK 2.4 GHz RF module it makes sense to expand your PROFI mc 3010 or 3030 transmitter to thirteen fully proportional servo channels, or your PROFI mc 4000 to sixteen fully proportional channels. Large-scale aircraft often feature a large number of auxiliary working systems, and pilots of such models will certainly appreciate this advance. To expand your transmitter you need the 13-channel / 16-channel expansion module for the PROFI mc 3000 / 4000 - and youre ready to go: plug the circuit board into the HFM3 M-LINK RF module, and connect up to four additional controls to the board. Control elements can be two-position switches, three-position switches or rotary proportional knobs. These can be installed in the transmitter in the standard installation wells at front right and left, adjacent to the screen. If your transmitter is a PROFI mc 3010 / 3030, the expansion will give you channels 1 to 9 plus the auxiliary channels 10 to 13. If you have a PROFI mc 4000, channels 1 to 12 are available plus the auxiliary channels 13 to 16. Please note that these four additional channels cannot be configured or adjusted using the transmitters software. Accessories: Rotary proportional control 3-position switch, short 3-position switch, long 2-position switch, short 2-position switch, long

2.4 GHz aerial adapter lead for PROFImc

# 7 5116

With the help of this adapter lead you can install the 2.4 GHz aerial in one of the switch installation wells from the side, instead of removing the ball socket for the 35, 40 ... MHz aerial. This makes it an easy matter to exchange the HFM3 M-LINK 2.4 GHz module for an FM RF module, even at the flying field: - Undo the 2.4 GHz aerial lead connection - Remove the 2.4 GHz module - Insert the 35, 40, ... MHz FM RF module - Screw the 35, 40, ... MHz aerial into place - job done!

AntiFlash 70
AntiFlash 70
# 8 5191 (with M6 connector system) # 8 5190 (excl. connectors)

When the flight battery of an electric-powered model is connected to the speed controller, arcing (sparking) occurs, and the MULTIPLEX AntiFlash 70 is designed to prevent this. This is an important advance, since sparks occur even at low operating voltages (~ 10 V) when the battery is connected, and the arcing causes cumulative damage to the connector contacts. After a while the electrical connection becomes less reliable due to increased transfer resistance, voltage drop, heating effects and mechanical faults. The AntiFlash 70 is simply connected to the speed controller, and the battery plugged into the unit.
Specification - AntiFlash 70: Voltage range: Cell count: Max. continuous current: Dimensions (L x W x H)*: Weight*: *) excl. connectors and cables 7,5 - 40 V 3 - 10S LiPo / 10 - 26 NiXX cells 70 A (35 A with M6 connector system) approx. 43 x 22 x 12 mm approx. 12 g

Safety Switch for AntiFlash

The AntiFlash can also be combined with a Safety Switch, which should be mounted on the outside of the model in an easily accessible position. Once you have connected the battery safely and without sparking, the switch is used to arm the power system. This prevents the motor starting up unintentionally (e.g. when you are connecting the battery, or carrying the model to the take-off area). The Safety Switch is available in two versions: you can select either the Micro version or the Professional version according to the space you have available. The Professional variant is an elegant, magnetically actuated switching unit which is installed in the fuselage. A two-colour status display with light-pipe indicates the operational modes Battery connected and Power system armed. Micro Safety Switch for AntiFlash Professional Safety Switch for AntiFlash

Accessories
# 59 2728 Zacki ELAPOR super liquid has been specially formulated in conjunction with a renowned German adhesive manufacturer. It is ideal for gluing ELAPOR and for use with Zacki ELAPOR fill up reaction filler. Of course, this adhesive also glues other materials to each other and to ELAPOR . However, please note that Zacki - like any other CA glue - will not adhere to PTFE (Teflon) or silicone. Due to its low viscosity Zacki ELAPOR is particularly good for close-fitting joints, gaps and cracks. The initial bond takes place in ten to fifteen seconds; the final cure occurs within a few minutes. The special formulation of this adhesive eliminates the need for kicker or activator. You can achieve superb results with Zacki ELAPOR super liquid in conjunction with Zacki ELAPOR fill up reaction filler (# 59 2729), especially when carrying out repairs, gluing ill-fitting joints or parts which do not line up correctly.
