Noong nakaraang pagdiriwang ng Dakilang Hubileo 2000, pormal na itinadhana ni Papa Juan Pablo II ang pagdiriwang ng Linggo ng Banal na Awa tuwing Ikalawang Linggo ng Pagkabuhay. Ito ay naaayon sa paniniwala ng yumaong Santo Papa na maliban sa awa ng Diyos, wala nang iba pang pagkukunan ng pag-asa ang sangkatauhan. Maliban sa awa ng Diyos, wala nang pagkukunan ng pag-asa. Masasabi natin na ito rin ang karanasan ng mga alagad noong nagkatipon sila isang gabi ng Linggo ilang araw matapos inilibing ang pinaniniwalaan nilang Kristo. Nakapinid ang mga pinto ng bahay dahil, ayon kay Juan, takot sila sa mga Judio na tumutugis sa kanila. Sa kabila ng lahat ng ibinalita sa kanila ni Maria Magdalena na nabuhay si Jesus, hindi sapat ang kanyang balita upang mabuhayan sila ng pag-asa. Gayon na lamang ang kanilang kagalakan nang nagpakita sa kanilang piling si Jesus at ipinakita niya ang kanyang mga kamay at tagiliran, ang mga bakas at tanda ng awa ng Diyos. minamahal at pagiging tapat dito. Sa gitna ng takot at kawalan ng pag-asa, kumilos si Jesus para sa kanyang inaaring mga kaibigan (Jn 15:15). Nahabag siya sa kanyang mga alagad na parang mga tupang walang pastol (Mt 9:36); at ipinakita niya na siya ay nananatiling tapat sa kanila kahit na siya ay iniwan nila sa oras ng kanyang kagipitan at paghihirap. Ang mga naturingang mukhang kawawa ay nakasumpong sa Mukha ng awa. Ang pag-asa ng mga alagad kay Jesus ang nagdulot sa kanila na mapagtagumpayan ang hinaharap nilang suliranin (bas. 1 Jn 5:5). Ngayong panahon na ang mundo ay nakararanas ng krisis na pang-ekonomiya at patuloy na nakararanas ng ibat ibang suliranin, ang pagdiriwang ng Linggo ng Banal na Awa ay paanyaya sa atin upang tingnan si Jesusang awa ng Diyosbilang inspirasyon at halimbawa ng tunay na kahulugan ng habag at katapatan. Sabi nga ni Papa Benedicto XVI, Tunay nga, awa ang buod ng mensahe ng Ebanghelyo; ito ang pinaka-ngalan ng Diyos, ang Mukha na inihayag sa Lumang Tipan at nagkaroon ng kaganapan kay Jesu-Kristo, ang malikhain at nagliligtas na Pag-ibig (Regina coeli, 30 Marso 2008). Maging tulad nawa tayo ng mga unang Kristiyano na isinabuhay ang halimbawa ng habag at katapatan ni Jesus. Isinalin nila ang awa sa kanilang sariling gawa: Nagkaisa ang damdamit isipan ng lahat ng sumasampalataya at di itunuring ninuman na sarili niya ang kanyang mga ari-arian, kundi para sa lahat (Gawa 4:32). Walang krisis sa taong may awa! Walang mabigat na suliranin sa taong marunong mahabag! Walang kawalang pag-asa sa taong tapat sa Awa ng Diyos!

Pope's Homily for Easter Sunday

VATICAN CITY, APRIL 12, 2009 (Zenit.org).- Here is the homily Benedict XVI gave at Easter Mass in St. Peter's Basilica. *** Dear Brothers and Sisters, "Christ, our Paschal lamb, has been sacrificed!" (1 Cor 5:7). On this day, Saint Pauls triumphant words ring forth, words that we have just heard in the second reading, taken from his First Letter to the Corinthians. It is a text which originated barely twenty years after the death and resurrection of Jesus, and yet like many Pauline passages it already contains, in an impressive synthesis, a full awareness of the newness of life in Christ. The central symbol of salvation history the Paschal lamb is here identified with Jesus, who is called "our Paschal lamb". The Hebrew Passover, commemorating the liberation from slavery in Egypt, provided for the ritual sacrifice of a lamb every year, one for each family, as prescribed by the Mosaic Law. In his passion and death, Jesus reveals himself as the Lamb of God, "sacrificed" on the Cross, to take away the sins of the world. He was killed at the very hour when it was customary to sacrifice the lambs in the Temple of Jerusalem. The meaning of his sacrifice he himself had anticipated during the Last Supper, substituting himself under the signs of bread and wine for the ritual food of the Hebrew Passover meal. Thus we can truly say that Jesus brought to fulfilment the tradition of the ancient Passover, and transformed it into his Passover.

This exhortation from Saint Paul, which concludes the short reading that was proclaimed a few moments ago, resounds even more powerfully in the context of the Pauline Year. Dear brothers and sisters, let us accept the Apostles invitation; let us open our spirit to Christ, who has died and is risen in order to renew us, in order to remove from our hearts the poison of sin and death, and to pour in the life-blood of the Holy Spirit: divine and eternal life. In the Easter Sequence, in what seems almost like a response to the Apostles words, we sang: "Scimus Christum surrexisse a mortuis vere" we know that Christ has truly risen from the dead. Yes, indeed! This is the fundamental core of our profession of faith; this is the cry of victory that unites us all today. And if Jesus is risen, and is therefore alive, who will ever be able to separate us from him? Who will ever be able to deprive us of the love of him who has conquered hatred and overcome death?

Rape is violation. It is the taking by force of what, in itself,


in the right context and when freely given, is beautiful and unitive. Sexual rape is probably one of the most horrible possible ways of degrading and oppressing another human being. But there are many other kinds of rape. There is ecological rape and rape of the environment. There is psychological rape where a person is forced to accept points of view which may in themselves be valid, but which may at the moment be going against the grain for the person. This situation may produce an obedient child or a rebellious one. While society exalts the obedient one, psychologists say that the rebel and even the neurotic is often more healthy. The latter is still striving to be an authentic person while the former has surrendered his or her personality. Psychological rape happens in the family and in religious life when people are forced into choices - marriage, professions, responsibilities - which may in themselves be valid but which the person may not be able to own personally at this point in time. There can also be spiritual rape when a whole belief system is imposed on a culture or group or individual from outside. While this can produce the philosopho who argues against almost everything that others believe, it can also produce a kind of spiritual passivity where a person believes everything proposed without any struggle - and without any real conviction. sense of truth - he who has died cannot be alive - and his tendency to conform and accept the words of his group, his barkada. His sense of inner integrity demands that he does not give in just for the sake of peace, yet, he does not protest just for the sake of controversy. But now the risen Jesus volunteers to authenticate himself by showing his wounds. And Thomas is convinced. He is set free to accept the paradox. There is a gush of recognition and joy as he says "My Lord and my God!" Jesus responds, "blessed are those who have not seen but who believe." All of us have a desire to experience the extraordinary miracles and dancing suns - but the true Jesus is not to be found in these things. The paradox is that the greatness of Jesus is often discovered in poverty, suffering and weakness. Faith is ultimately in the graceful acceptance of paradox. It is in freely accepting what from a rational point of view makes no sense and yet is seen by the inner eye to be the ultimate sense. The prayer that seeks extraordinary intervention and proof of God's love and care does not help the vision of that inner eye. The inner eye is sharpened in stillness of heart where one can be present comfortably with paradox. This is the direction in which the twice daily practice of meditation takes one. It takes one like Thomas not to compromise or yield to violence, but to the graceful, joyful, acceptance of what is apparently contradictory.

Though homesickness is still a disease we cannot avoid, but at least the intensity has been lessened. We no longer experience the difficulty in communicating with our family. There are many ways on how we can make it up for our absence.

A year had passed since I left my children under the paternal care of my husband. Leaving them wasnt that easy. It took me a lot of courage and determination before I finally settled on this decision. I thought that the problems I had experienced were the toughest ones, but I was wrong. I never thought that being separated from them would be very difficult For instance, I make sure that as much as possible I talk to for all of us and will be most painful too.
