Student Ministry Teams

Application Due September 16th

Interviews in the Back Door on Sunday, September 16th 5-6 pm

Goal:
To equip students to make disciples of their peers, through peer care and peer share.

Definition:
Peer care = students ministering to the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of their fellow students.
Peer share = believing students sharing Christ with lost students.

Why?
• Christ modeled leadership training as a priority.
• This is how we will multiply our ministry.
• It protects the group from being dependant on 1 person.
• Experiencing ministry causes students’ spiritual commitment to deepen.

How?
You watch me → We do it together → I watch you → You do it alone → You equip someone else

Ministry Teams:

1. Worship—Leading worship through music

2. Drama—Performing Dramas to aid the lesson of the day or just dramas for fun
3. Sound/Media—running the sound board, powerpoint, videos, taking pictures, videoing, computers
4. Events—Help plan the events that the youth group does throughout the year.
Food/Concession, pop machine.
5. Hospitality / Greeters—Help create a welcoming atmosphere in our youth group with visitors and
individuals in the youth group.
6. Prayer and Encouragement—Pray for our youth group and its individuals as well as provide
encouragement to everyone in our youth group
7. Student Leader – Keeps teens accountable, prepares 1 minute testimony, keeps outreach a focus
8. Web Team – Every problem or question researched, every success story told, plus youth website
9. Follow up Team – No one slips through the cracks! – postcards, phone calls, emails, messages…

General Expectations:
Members of each ministry team are expected to be involved in greeting both guests and regular
attenders to Heir Born events. This falls under “peer care” and is expected of all student ministry team
members. Prayer and encouragement are not separate teams either because they are expected of each team
member. Other expectations such as lifestyle and conduct expectations are covered in the application.

Terms:
All students will be given an opportunity to apply for the student ministry team twice a year, at the
beginning of each semester. Students may serve for only one semester if they choose. This allows students
involved in sports and other activities to join the team or go off the team at mid-year. Ministry teams will meet
the first Sunday evening of the month from 6-8pm at the Back Door. (Individual teams may have additional
meeting times.) Meetings will begin as a whole and break into the various teams. Adult youth leaders will lead
the various teams, but the goal is to allow the students to carry out the actual ministry not the youth leader.
