"Hear, Poseidon, ruler of the sea profound, whose liquid grasp begirds the solid ground; who, at the

bottom of the stormy main, dark and deep-bosomed holdest they watery reign. Thy awful hand the brazen trident bears, and sea's utmost bound thy will reveres. Thee I invoke, whose steeds the foam divide, from whose dark locks the briny waters glide; shoe voice, loud sounding through the roaring deep, drives all its billows in a raging heap; when fiercely riding through the boiling sea, thy hoarse command the trembling waves obey. Earth-shaking, dark-haired God, the liquid plains, the third division, fate to thee ordains. 'Tis thine, cerulean daimon, to survey, well-pleased, the monsters of the ocean play. Confirm earth's basis, and with prosperous gales waft ships along, and swell the spacious sails; add gentle peace, and fair-haired health beside, and pour abundance in a blameless tide." I am Poseidon, ruler of the seas, earthquakes and horses. I am also the brother to Zeus and Hades. The son of Cronus one of the Giant Titans trapped in Tartarus for all eternity. They are trapped there because they wanted to reek havoc on the earth but the gods would not allow it. So they were cast down into Tartarus, surrounded by bars of lightning so they cannot escape. Many have tried to free them, and the story always ends the same. They were killed by Zeus for high treason to their brethren, or died on their journey to the accursed place. The only one that can free them is Zeus himself. Any mortal or immortal has to pass through the Underworld before they can reach Tartarus. The trails set ahead of them are challenging, physically and mentally. Those who choose to take on this highly dangerous task have to pass through the three levels of the Underworld. One of which Hades resides. If they can get through the three levels, they will be at the Gates of Tartarus. The Gates have two locks upon them; the keys however are in Hades possession. Each one is guarded by a monster that must be defeated, the beasts themselves cannot

die but they will yield to those who best them. Cerberus is the first beast you must outmatch. He is a gigantic dog with three heads. The second is the Hydra, a serpent dragon with three heads. But be warned, if you cut off one head two more replace it. If you do not defeat the two, you will belong to Hades. He will take your soul and you will serve him forever. Then they would have to devise a way to either break the bars of lightning, or a way around them. That in itself is no easy task to accomplish. As I said before, Zeus is the only one with the power to remove the bars. Most people waste their lives trying to devise a way to either get into the Underworld. The natural way to get into the Underworld is to die, but since that is not an option they will have to pay the ferryman a large sum of money to take them in to the Underworld. They ferryman only takes gold drachmas as payment. I sit on my throne next to my brothers and sisters in the council of gods. When we overthrew our father and the other giants, the cosmos was divided into lots for us. As you know, I am the ruler of the Mediterranean Sea. My brother Zeus is the King of Gods and god of the heavens, weather, fate and Kings. Then Hades is the King of the Underworld, everything that lives and breathes must, at the end return to him. I am here to tell you the story of a brave man who did in the end, release the giant Titans. He endured all the trials and with help from the gods, broke them out of their prison. He is the son of Danae and the god Zeus. Danaes father Acrisius, was the King of the Argos. His grandfather was upset because he needed a son to be heir of his kingdom. So he traveled to the island of Delphi that held the Oracle. The Oracle prophesized he would have no sons, and that his daughters child would be the one to kill him. Feeling a sense of dread he locked Danae in a bronze cell with an open roof so she could not get

pregnant. But little did he know that Zeus came to visit her and bore her a son, and that was Perseus. Not knowing she had conceived, he went to visit her one day and heard the toddler playing. When he seen she had a son, he sent both of them in a wooden chest on the sea to die. Danae and her son were guided by Zeus to an island called Seriphus. There a man named Dictys caught the chest in his fishing net and released them from the wooden chest. He took them into his home until Perseus was full grown. When Perseus was full grown his mother told him of the horrible things her father did to her. He was outraged, so he sent off to kill his selfish grandfather for his crimes against his mother and himself. When Perseus showed up to the kingdom he disguised himself as a begger to get into the gates. When he was inside the city walls, he headed to the palace to fulfill his quest. As he walked toward through the streets people started to stare. Perseus found this odd, nobody even looked at the beggers in his town. He was just about to climb the stairs but a palace guard stopped him. Hey you! said the guard. Perseus turned toward him, and said Me, sir? The guard started to walk toward him and Perseus clutched his sword. What are you doing by the palace? You street urchins are filthy get go on! the guard grabbed him by the robe and ripped it off. The guard stumbled back when he got a look at Perseus body. Your no beggar! Raise the alarm! Assasin! Assasin! he called. Perseus clamped the guards mouth shut and took out his sword and shuved it into the guards belly. By the time he put the body in the shade and took the

guards uniform, guards were running out of the palace at every entrance. Perseus ran up the stairs and at the threshold of the doors yelled to the guards He ran that way! Hurry before he gets away! Then he went through the doors and down the left corridor and into the kings study. There he spotted the king and his body guards standing in a circle to protect him. The guards looked up at Perseus, but they didnt move an inch. Perseus said The assassin ran down the north wall and into the wooded area. The other Guards ran after him, he is no longer a threat to you, your Majesty. Then he bowed and backed away. Before he could go down the hallway the king said Stop soldier! What is your name? Perseus turned around and said Perseus, your Majesty. The king stroked his beard and said Well Perseus its seems you have helped to save my life. Join me for dinner this evening. Its the least I can do. Perseus almost grinned, but that would give him away. So instead he said Thank you so much your Majesty. You honor me.Then Perseus bowed one last time and left the room. Once he was outside he headed toward the stalls where the sellers had there merchandise. He went up to a stall that had hand-made clothes and inspected them How much for this robe?Perseus asked. Six drachma, sir. Said the seller. Ill take it. Thank you. Perseus handed the man the money and grabbed the robe. He left the stall and went down the nearest street to find a place he could bathe and change his clothes. He came up to a stream that the women in the town did there laundry. He Looked around to see if anyone was around, when

he didnt see anyone he began to strip. Just as he was about to take his loin cloth off a woman came to the stream. Oh! Im so sorry! Im sorry, I didnt know anyone was down here, sir. She quickly turned away and covered her eyes. Its okay. I was just about to take a bath. Perseus waded into the water and said Okay Im in the water. You can open your eyes. She took her hand off her face and took a quick look to make sure he had went into the water. Again, Im sorry sir. Perseus could see the young girls skin turn a deep red. He had to stifle a laugh. She put down her basket and started to put the clothes into the water Perseus stood only feet from her. While she was busy washing the first robe, he stood in the water and looked at her. She was young; she was around his age. Her hair looked as if it was spun from the suns rays itself. It was thick and reached to the middle of her back, and had the slightest curl at the ends. Her skin was as pale as the moon, beautiful and glowing. Her eyes were beautiful, the color of the morning sky. They seemed to hold of the worlds secrets in them. She had a slender, toned body. With legs that stretched a mile. Her face was heart-shaped and delicate. To him he was the most beautiful woman he had ever seen. Whats your name, Maam? he said. My name is Avella of Helios. And your name is? she said. Oh Perseus. He stumbled out. Avella started to giggle, when Perseus looked at her she immediately stopped. He was confused, she looked scared of him.

Do I scare you? he asked. Well youre a palace guard, please forgive me. Im sorry I laughed She turned away from him and resumed washing her clothes. Perseus looked at the uniform and he understood why she was scared now, she was afraid of getting a punishment for her laughter. no, no, theres no need to be sorry. Your in no trouble, please your laugh was refreshing. She turned her head up and looked at him in the eyes. She was searching for a falsehood but found none. She let out a sigh and looked down at her hands. Then she said, Im sorry, forgive me if im too bold. But you dont seem to be like the other guards here. I can see a difference in your eyes, not like the others who only have greediness in them. She turned towards him again and only looked at him. Perseus didnt know what to do next. He looked back at her and smiled, she smiled back and started to blush again. This time he couldnt hold his laughter in, he started laughing and Avella looked at him with a strange expression. When he stopped laughing he looked at her and said Sorry, its just I have known you all of five minutes and I have made you blush twice. Do I make you nervous Avella? Avella looked down at her laundry and lingered on how he said her name. His voice was like a streams rhythmic current. When she finished with one robe, she laid it on big rock and looked back at him. She said, You make me nervous because your very handsome and kind. She looked away from the rock and back at Perseus. He had a look of relief in his eyes. Adella though why is he relieved? Perseus was glad she said he was handsome. That was an ego boost. He started to head toward her where she was washing

her clothes. Perseus looked back at her and he saw panic flashed in her eyes but then it was gone in an instant. It was replaced by confusion. What are you doing? She asked. Perseus kept his eyes on hers while he was wading through the water towards her. He simply said Coming closer , I dont want any man to know I have a beautiful woman with me. Avella looked at him with an amused expression, then said, Thats good I dont want any maidens to know I have a handsome young suitor with me. At that Avella laughed again. Perseus liked her laughter, it sounded like birds singing. Perseus stopped a few feet from her and sat on a rock next to her. Avella started back on her laundry, but Perseus only had eyes for her. Avella noticed he never took his eyes off her, she didnt want to look at him this close. She would be helpless against his charm. Avella, look at me. Perseus said. Avella put down her garment and turned toward him. She looked into his eyes and saw a whole new future for herself. yes? was all she could say. Perseus took his hand and brushed her hair out of her eyes so he could look at her blue eyes. You have the bluest eyes I have ever seen. There beautiful, Avella. He stroked her cheek as he said it. Avella couldnt help it, she had to have him. He was beautiful, has a strong muscular body, luscious brown hair, and eyes that are bright as the leaves on the trees. She took his hand from her face, and held it. She looked at him again

and she leaned towards him . Perseus couldnt believe it, he grabed the nape of her neck and gave her a slow sweet kiss. It was amazing, she had the softest lips he had ever felt. As the kiss deepened, he wrapped his arms around her and she leaned her body against him. There kisses were frenzied, Perseus could feel his lust rising and could feel hers. Avella got up from the rock and sat on Perseus lap and wrapped her arms around him. Perseus wanted her so much he couldnt contain himself. He laid her down on the soft grass and started to take her robe off. But before he could get the sash off her shoulders he heard footsteps approaching. Avella scrambled up off the ground and smoothed down her robe and ran back to her laundry. Perseus looked at her smiled and whispered, We will continue this later. then he went over to her and kissed her cheek and jumped back in the water. Avella giggled when he splashed her. When he resurfaced, there was a palace guard waiting. He had on the traditional uniform. A royal blue robe on and over the robe was bronze armor with the kings crest of a snake wrapped around a long sword. His helmet was also bronze and had peacock feathers running from the front to back in a line. The king is waiting for you to join him. Hurry up, you mustnt be late. he bowed and then took a quick look at Avella and left the way he came. Perseus came out of the water and headed towards the tree he hung his guard uniform on. He grabbed the robe that he just purchased and began to dress. Avella watched him she admired his muscular body. The planes on his stomach seemed to go on for eternity. He was everything she want and needed. She was excited to see him again. He looked at Avella and said I will meet you here at dusk, my Avella.

He gave her a quick smile and grabbed his guard uniform and left the river bank. Her eyes followed him until he was out of site. She smiled to herself and started to plan what she was to wear when they next meet. She finished her laundry and ran home to get ready for the night to come.
