Next generation TPMS - The tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) supports the driver in monitoring the inflated tire pressure in the wheels and informs the driver of any loss in pressure. The warnings are issued to the driver through a warning light, an indicator in the sedan display and warning tones. Adapts within 30 seconds. There is no longer a 30 minute learning period. Trigger coils are located in each wheel well. They trigger the wheel electronics to send a signal. This signal goes to a central antenna and back to the TPMS system. The advantage is that this can be done at a standstill, and takes much less power relayed from the wheel sensors. This should lead to longer battery life.
