Sliding your way into spectacular presentations

Organizational Chart
PowerPoint includes tools to create a variety of diagrams these can be customized (to a certain extent) to serve more than a single function.

To create a diagram:
1. Select Insert > Diagram

Power Point can be much more than the standard presentations. The program gives you a blank canvas and provides you with tools to make that canvas into a spectacular presentation. Youve seen a few of these innovative designs/slides todayNow its your chance to explore PowerPoint Think outside the screen!

2. Now, select the type of diagram that you want to create.

Links
Links allow you to move around in a presentation. 1. Select what you want to become a link (text or image) 2. Insert a link (Control+ K or Insert > hyperlink)

Movies
Inserting Movies and sounds in PowerPoint 1. Insert > Movies and Sounds > Movies from File

Hidden Slides
These slides will not show in a standard presentation unless theyre linked

2. PowerPoint will prompt you to decide how your movie should play 3. The movie will appear on the slide as a black box. You can click to start/stop the movie file. Tip: Bring a copy of the movie with you (on disk or online)

Custom Animation
If used correctly, animation can be extremely useful. To create an animation, select Slide Shows > Custom Animation. Now, select an object and explore the various animations.

1. To hide a slide, go to slide sorter view: 2. Select the slide to hide, and hide the slide: a. Slide Show > Hide Slide b. Or, click the Hide Slide icon on the toolbar

To animate the entire slide, explore Slide Show > Slide Transition.

Keyboard Shortcuts
Perform the next animation or advance to the next slide: N, Enter, Page Down, Right Arrow, Down Arrow, or the Spacebar (or click the mouse) Perform the previous animation or return to the previous slide: P, Page Up, Left Arrow, Up Arrow, or Backspace Go to slide number: number+Enter Stop or restart an automatic slide show: S or Plus Sign End a slide show: Esc, Ctrl+Break, or Hyphen Go to the next hidden slide: H Go to the first or next hyperlink on a slide: Tab Switch to the next window: Alt+Tab Switch to the previous window: Alt+Shift+Tab Close the active window: Ctrl+W or Ctrl+F4 Minimize a window to an icon: Ctrl+F9 Maximize or restore a selected window: Ctrl+F10 Copy a picture of the screen to the Clipboard: Print Screen Copy a picture of the selected window to the Clipboard: Alt+Print Screen

Use color, use graphics, use links, use whatever you can find There are some resources loaded onto the EEE Webpage (see the URL on the front of this handout). To download resources from the webpage, Right click on any of the resources Select Save target as Navigate to the desktop, and select the Adv PPT folder. For images, the process is the same, except select Save image as.
