Misconceptions of Moon's Influence

Looking back at ancient history, our ancestors only had very little knowledge about their environment as well as with the things that happens to them and their surroundings. These occurrences include the Moon and its different kind of phases. They believe that it has a great effect in ones life. Ancient people believe that the moon exerts such a strong and powerful force when in fact they are only experiencing a slight gravitational pull. Science has already proven that a baby in his mothers embrace can exert several million times of that tidal force coming from moon. Nevertheless, despite all the proven studies, many still are inclined to this old mentality just the same as many believes that the moons lunatic haul can cause a tremendous earthquake. That thinking is being depicted by science. In fact, one of those heavenly bodies, neither the Sun nor the Moon, is capable of driving powerful forces towards earth. Another known fact on Moon is that its influence to cause tsunami (water disturbance due o earthquake under the sea). However, never has it been logically proven to cause any effects on bodies of human being. People who claim such support their belief with the reason that human boy is greatly taken by water thus affecting human behavior as well. This is just one of those many misconceptions on earth and definitely has no scientific proofs. It is a valid explanation that the moon may have effects on the unbounded bodies of water on the Earths surface but the water in ones human body is bounded as it is entirely enveloped. It is totally preposterous to say that heavenly bodies particularly the moon exerts force deep within the skin of the body to invade humans individuality. In connection to the misconception on moon affecting human behavior is that, when it is full moon is that lunacy reigns. There is no given data from any hospital nor does any police record that people turning lunatic during full moon. Also crime rate does not increase during said moon phase. There also no given proof that woman is more fertile when the moon is at its full phase. Maybe these data arose from casual observers but those things can happen in greater numbers despite what phase the moon is. People cant

just blame every weird occurrence to the moons phase. If such occurrences only happen during this period of time, then blame can be attributed to the moon. In addition, the misconception is perceived as the energy coming from the moon influence approaches from the distance, not in any point is caused by the moons phase. There is a certain phenomenon called Perigee, wherein the moon is described to be in the position nearest to the Earth that disasters will happen at most. But the fact is that these disasters can occur at any given time during the moons phase. It is also expected that during this phenomenon there will be higher tides which are said to be caused by the positioning of the Earth, moon and Sun. It is said to be caused by the powerful tidal forces and that these forces are actually the combined powers of the moon's and the Sun's, not just of the moon alone. There is this book written by Arnold Lieber who stated that the catastrophes such as earthquake brought by the moon's energy but still there was no such occurrence. Though a prediction was formulated by him about the earthquake happened in California, all the things that took place was not exactly as predicted.

Earliest Calendar
Back then, people had no real means of telling what date it was along with the hours of the day. What they did have are so-called early calendars which include the moon itself. But how does it work? There are three (3) calendar systems that helped us track back those written in the Old Testament. These are the Jewish, Mesoamerican and the Egyptian calendars. Scientists have worked in knowing what was once used to measure time. What was the Lords unit for time keeping then? How did ancient people dealt with time observation? Primary sections of the Old Testament declare days and years combined. The Old Testament gives the initial truthful thoughts regarding time calculation and recording. The differentiation of days from nights was defined in the book of Genesis. In this part of the Holy Bible, the initial schedule of the first day started. The definition of Gods one (1) week of creation given further emphasis on the basic usage of the calendar system. One

(1) week, consisting of seven (7) days is a basic religious idea. Moon has four phases that signifies the four weeks each month. We are digging on the times when people observe the movements of the sun, moon and stars for further time recording. The Jewish datebook is very simple and very comprehensible if you know well the numbers that were used. It is mainly formulated through the chronological movements of the sun and moon combined ever since the very first year of Creation. Modern tabled dates conclude this era as the B.C.E. or the "Before Common Era". It also termed as the B.C. for "Before Christ." Time considering after Christ was termed to as the A.D. meaning Anno Domini or After Divinity. The age of Adam and Eve will help in defining the Old Testament and its importance to the calendar information. In Genesis 1:4 where God has seen the light and had divided one day into two parts which is the now called the night and day. In here, God stands in the middle of the light and darkness in the literal point of view of Hebrews. This phrase sets the difference between the day and night. In Genesis 1:5 As God has separated the light from darkness, the light was called the day and the darkness was the night. The first night and day was derived to be the very first day of the year. God has made two powerful lights in the sky, one to enlighten our mornings and the other one to overcome the nights. The sunlight signifies day time and moon light entails time greater than a day. The more powerful light among the two is, of course, the sun. Gods work of creation, mainly the separation of light from darkness is initial actions to measure time according to basic principle of the original Jewish calendar. Datebooks, schedules, and the one whole week of Gods creation served as inspiration and divine references to the Holy Bible. God has said to be rested on the seventh day. Again this moment describes the division of time. Again, God has separated the light and darkness of the moon. Ongoing duplication of happenings in a certain subject makes the holy correlation obvious between particular divisions of the datebook. Shifting from one moon phase ends with a beginning of the next moon phase is the most regarded unit of time dimension known.

Once in a Blue Moon

The saying once in a blue moon are often heard and said by us. It means very rarely or there is a very least chance of a certain thing to happen. Where did this particular expression originated? Often when asked, well get two (2) usual answers: - It is the third full moon in the calendar. - It when the moon appears to be blue. Let us start discussing the second one first. Very rarely, the moon really looks blue at times. It usually happens after a volcano has erupted, like what happened to Krakatao in the year 1883. Tiny particles and elements in the air might have been in the right extent to send an illusion of blue lighting, making the moon to appear red during sunset, while bigger particles from the volcanic eruption reflects red light making the moon to look bluish in color. Since this occurrence takes place very rarely, it might have been the root of the expression. But most often than not, the term once in a blue moon is used for things or incidents that is quite impossible to happen. This expression that carries very rarely meaning is being used way back in the medieval era in England. Going to the first answer, blue moon can be referred to as the third full moon in a season where there are four (4) full moons. Often, one (1) whole year has twelve (12) full moons which occur approximately each month. Aside from those 12 lunar cycles (12 months), every solar calendar year has about eleven (11) days more than the year of the 12 months. These additional days are summing up, so every after two (2) or three (3) years, an extra full moon appears. The expression regarding blue moon comes from folklore. Other possible origins of the term Once in a Blue Moon - Another history where this term might have come from is in calculating the dates for Easter & Lent where the Clergy identifies it as the Lent Moon. Historically, it pertains to the early coming of the moon. This earlier moon was named as betrayer moon (belewe moon).

- One folklore designated a name for each moon according to its time of the year. The moon that came too early had no folk name and so it was called the blue moon, maintaining the accurate seasonal timing for the future moons. - As defined in the Farmers Almanac, blue moon is the extra full moon that occurred in a particular season. As stated above, each season has 3 full moons. By the time it reaches the fourth then it is referred to as the blue moon. - Recently, blue moon has been defined to as the second full moon of the calendar month. This though rooted from a certain interpretation error made in the year 1946, which was discovered in the year 1999. Upon using this notion, December 31, 2009 appeared that it was supposed to have a blue moon occurrence. - Stating the metaphor about the blue moon is just the same as the aphorism that the moon is mainly composed of green (or cream) cheese. This is totally ridiculous. During the 19th century, this expression or metaphor simply means "never" or shall not happen at all. The phrase today are said to mean "every now and then" or "rarely"it doesnt matter where and how the phrase has gained its meaning as long as the thought on how it was related to the lunar events is there.
