September 2011

Dear Friend, Greetings to you in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ from everyone at the Full Gospel Lighthouse Church. Its a wonderful day to be alive! The Lord is our strength and salvation and we can trust His power to bring us through every situation we face today and always. There is a verse of Scripture that caught my eyes as I read it this morning. In Job 22:21 it says, Acquaint now thyself with Him, and be at peace: thereby good shall come unto thee. We misunderstand the ways of God because we think He looks at life however we look at life. Our perception can be wrong because of our experiences, but the Lord has the correct view of everything! We think He doesnt hear our prayers because the answers dont necessarily come the way we think they should. But He knows what He is doing all the time! Some people think the Lord is too busy to bother with them. But this is not true. They may think He is a million miles from them but He knows the steps we take and when He tries us we can come forth as gold if only we will take the time to become acquainted with Him. There was a man in the Bible who didnt really know the Lord would have anything to do with him. He was a leper; shut away from society, a misfit, a loner, a person (for obvious reasons) who had low self-esteem and believed everyone wanted no part of him. He didnt know if Jesus would heal him or not, but Jesus was coming his way and he was sick and tired of being sick and tired. He wanted to be liberated and able to live life again after all he went through. And behold, there came a leper and worshipped Him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean (Matthew 8:2). He didnt question whether Jesus could heal him or not: his question was whether Jesus would heal him. This question is one that has plagued man for centuries: What is Gods will? Jesus could have had a dozen excuses for not helping this man. Even the Word of God, the Law, was against this man. Society was against him. The followers of Christ were against him. Everything and everybody turned away from this leprous man. Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean. Uncertainty clouded the air like a thick blanket. If Jesus refused it would not change the Lords power one bit. The people would still follow Him and life would go on. But there was one man there who needed that question settled: Lord, if thou wilt The Scripture says, And Jesus put forth His hand, and touched him, saying, I will; be

thou clean. Jesus Christ, the Son of God, the Savior of the world, stepped out of Laws and rules of society and common sense because of compassion, and not only spoke the Word to him but touched him. Christ Jesus touched this unclean man; this disfigured form of a person, and then spoke words of life and peace to him. I will; be thou clean. That changed everything! Not only did He heal this man, but showed us today that Gods will and intentions for broken humanity is to touch us and heal our infirmities, regardless of what they are! He is alive today and does know what we are going through. He said He would never leave us or forsake us. I believe each of us have an opportunity to be touched by the Lord many times in our lives, but are we perceptive enough to ask and receive it? Do past experiences keep us from receiving any good thing from God? This is why the Lord told us to have the faith of a little child. A child doesnt yet have the experience of set-backs and failures. A child doesnt know evil and frauds like adults do. A child hears the Word of God and simply believes it. Thats what it means to have the faith of a little child. Step out of the limitations of your past and reach out to Jesus: you will find Hes reaching out to you! May God bless you this month as you draw nigh to the Lord. Remember, if you draw nigh to Him the Bible says He will draw nigh to you! I invite you to come to Christ at any of our church services. We are the Full Gospel Lighthouse Church, located at 624 Torringford West Street, in Torrington, CT. Our schedule of services is Sunday at 10 AM and 7 PM, and Wednesday at 7:30 PM.
