PROBLEM STATEMENT :
Constant data aquisition through various sensors installed in the robot and sending it to the operator through GSM module.The location of the surveillance robot is determined with the help of a wireless camera and a PC.
SYSTEM SPECIFICATION : This project consists of two units: One Onboard Robot. Another with the concerned observer (may be the vehicle owner or person concerned). The Robot unit:- consists of power supply section, microcontroller, GSM, Sensors, Motors, Wireless Camera etc. While that at the observers end consists of a mobile phone.
Microcontroller:- This is the core/heart of the systems, which controls the overall process. (Any of the 8051/PIC/AVR/ARM controllers can be used.) GSM:- GSM is used to receive instructions (In the form of Call/Misscall/SMS) & send the updates of the parameters being monitored & other information to the observer. Wireless camera : This camera is installed on the robot which is interfaced to the PC of the operator. Device with the concerned authority:- A mobile phone interfaced with laptop, It receives the information send by the GSM of the Robot.

Motors: - 2~4 DC Motors are used for mobility of the vehicle. For other enhancement (Arm Etc.) suitable motors (DC gear, Stepper, Servo) are used. Wireless Camera: - Wireless camera is used to provide live video feed to the operator. Computer: - It is interfaced with the mobile of the operator to watch video feeds.
ADVANTAGES :
Lets the user operate it remotely with a working range as large as the coverage area of the service provider. It can be used for data acquisition from extreme environment, used to defuse bombs, detect landmine, provide support to rescue teams.
DISADVANTAGES :
The main disadvantage is poor network coverage in remote areas which can hamper the performance of robot.
