ASNAU SENATE MEETING #1 OFFICIAL MINUTES Date: Date September 9th, 2011 Number on council: 11 Number present: 11 Prepared

by Makenzie Mastrud Senate Chair Sidney West called the Senate meeting of the 2011-2012 Senate to order at 6:00 P.M. in the Havasupai Room A & B of the University Union. Roll Call All present Approval of Minutes Motion: Senator Bingham Second: Senator Buchta Discussion: None Vote: Unanimous Call to the Audience Blaise Caudill: We have hired a new Senator, Sally. She wants to help others find themselves. We have also hired five new Supreme Court members, I will be talking to Kate Murphy, last years ASA Director, about her interest in becoming he head of the Supreme Court. Stacey Lech, the head of the Graduate Student Government would like to introduce herself. Motion: Senator Bingham to approve the hired Supreme Court members. Second: Senator Woodhouse Discussion: None Vote: Unanimous, congratulations to the new Supreme Court members you are now officially on the Supreme Court. President- Blaise Caudill -Welcome to the new senate member and the new Supreme Court. -Spoke at One Community Many Voices meeting, a program fostering diversity on south campus put on by Residence Life. -Kick off event last night, 200 people came, excellent turn out. -I had held about 20 interviews over the past day and half for people to fill the open positions. -Uofa game, thank you to every one who helped out -Fort Louis game coming up, so excited. -Student body e-mail went out yesterday, I will be sending out one every Wednesday to update the student body about Sanas current work/projects and I will also include the Senate meeting agenda b. Vice President of Student affairs- Sammy Smart -UofA game went really well, minus the one of the buses breaking down on the way home. I am thinking of getting all of those students something small from the bookstore as an apology. Nothing more than $100 (in total for all the students). -Banner for the lumberyard should be ready for next home game, this week we will be using a temporary one. -Tailgating Saturday, everyone that applied for spots is getting them, thy will be in and out of the office tomorrow getting maps, parking passes, and other important things they need to confirm their spot. Students can come at noon to start setting up. If you are volunteering to help please come around 11. Kjack will not be DJing this tailgate, so we have hired a students for $50 to DJ. We will be scanning IDs of 21 yr olds and passing out bracelets. -The dome does not have wireless yet so we will be having students fill out an info card saying they received a Jack Pak shirt. We are handing out 1000 this game. -I will complete the club and organization mailboxes this up coming week.

Vice President of Academic Affairs- Sidney West -Senate, your posters in your mailboxes must be hung up in your college. -Also Senate please takes a copy of the purple paper on top of the mailboxes. d. Chief of Staff- Chloe Olson -Homecoming meeting this Friday at 3. -Julie is making homecoming royalty posters. -ASNAU is one of the next clubs in line to get their website we done, so look for that. Staff Reports A. ASA- Chelsea Byers, Wes Enns, Jenn Hancock - C.A.S.T.L.E (Conference of Arizona Student Leaders) event on October 14th and 15th to teach students about being a leader, lots of great workshops and speakers coming so check it out. -We have seven new interns, still looking for more. B. Public Relations- Julia Lesniak - None C. Special events- Caitlin Heck, Rachel Rogala - None D. NSO- Erick Gonzalez, Heather Reeves - E-mail out to everyone Tuesday at 6. Committee Reports A. Appropriations: Had first meeting B. Legislative: First meeting after this Senator Reports A. Nate Alcorn Meet with clubs, already have some wanting OAs. B. Hal Bingham Stull e-mailing and meeting with clubs. C. Anthony Buchta No announcements D. Samantha Cortez Meet with college dean, and sending out e-mails to clubs E. Samantha Cross Going to watch the Qudditch team with Samantha this week, also still e-mailing clubs

F. Ryan Lee Meet with some clubs, really excited about all that we are offering. G. Zach Libby no announcements H. Annsley Niemann Few responses from clubs, still trying to contact them.

I. Matthew Villa Met with dean of the college I am working with, he wants to hold a forum with all the clubs. J. Gavin Walton E-mailing clubs. K. Shayla Woodhouse E-mailing clubs. Advisor Reports (Rick Brandel and Art Farmer) Rick Brandel Need volunteers for the Skydome opening tomorrow, something was printed in the paper inviting community members and we need students volunteers to escort these people around the dome.
