ESSAY SOCIO-POLITICAL ISSUE OF PAKISTAN

Pakistan has been facing a lot of social and political problems since its inception in 1947.Owing to the fact that Pakistan is a developing nation, there is no wonder that it is surrounding with a number of social, political and economical problems. For the vast majority of Pakistan's history, its politics have been an elite-led phenomenon. There have been three kind of people in which have been of prime importance: the military, the land-owning feudal classes, and the business-owning industrialist classes.
Representatives of each have controlled Pakistan at various times, and at other times battled each other for power. The real issue is not the presence of these problems in society, because

there is no concept of an ideal society in the world. Every country in the world has its own set of socio-political problems. The main issue is the extent and intensity of the socio-political problems of Pakistan which have touched to alarming levels. A very common question asked in Pakistan is about the most burning issue in Pakistan? The answer you will get may be a list of hundreds of issues which start from Kashmir and will end on terrorism or militancy etc. Recently, Mr. Mansha, a renowned businessman, in an interview in CNN replied same question by giving a simple answer that water and energy are two most valid problems in Pakistan. With its immense socio-economic ramifications, the prevalent energy crisis has become a critical issue for Pakistan. The energy crises and development of dams have always been affected by the politics of Pakistan. Politics has always impact on the economy of Pakistan. A power crisis is the main economic issue of Pakistan at the present moment. Power crises are affecting the economy of the country very badly. We are facing an ever decreasing supply of power and ever increasing demands. We are running short of fuel. Whole country is affected by the power crises. Pakistans economic conditions are pathetic. problem of energy crises which is leading to social and economic problems in the country. Currently, the country faces the power deficit of 3500 Megawatt that will enlarge in the near future if effective measures are not taken. The Pakistan Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) is a semi-autonomous body for the development of schemes in Water and Power Sectors, that failed to materialize the growing demand of energy in Pakistan. There are many factors of this crisis in Pakistan, ranging from poor management to global rising oil prices. It has impacted the society in large scale in the guises of unemployment, poor living standards, loss in production and much more. The power crisis is followed by decline in production and at the end the economy of the Pakistan is affected badly. It is not only preventing people from carrying on their daily routine, it is also depriving many of their livelihoods. An energy crisis is the main reason of unemployment in the society right now. This creates unrest in the country as it leads a person to attempt and involve in many crimes. Unemployment is a major social problem caused by poor economical system run by politically elected government. Whole world is facing serious problems of unemployment and the reason behind it is the unstable economy. Lack of funds followed by unorganized system and lack of new projects are causing unemployment in the country. Therefore the serving of deserving people is not used, causing loss to both country and the person. In every government rule there has been a political impact on the unemployment. In Pakistan major portion of population consists of youth and a large number of young people who have the ability and are willing to work are unemployed. Currently rate of unemployment as per official resources is 7.4% but according to some private estimates the rate of unemployment is 12%. There are many reasons of unemployment like influx of machinery that has replaced manpower, lack of new industries and defective education system but the main reason now a day is power crises. The companies are shutting down or downsizing labor and leaving them unemployed. Many factories have been shifted to other countries like Bangladesh because of the energy crises leaving the workforce of Pakistan unemployed. The impacts of unemployment are more serious and dangerous. People who dont find work

here migrate to other countries with better prospects. Also, people tired of making both ends meet due to unemployment indulge in evil activities and ratio of crimes increase. To overcome this problem the government need to play clean politics leading to effective management, check and balance in the transmission and distribution system, opening of new projects and public awareness is the need of this country development. Many projects of dams and hydropower plants construction are in the pipeline by the Government with a ray of hope that this problem will be resolved in the future. But, implementation and timely response is of urgent need. As stated in the start of my presentation, no country is free from socio-political problems. These problems are present in every country but the winners are those who overcome most, if not all of them. Though country is currently facing a lot of socio political problems but it doesnt mean that it is going towards its end. Nations face multifarious problems but together they work for towards the solution. The same is the need of hour. Government as well as every single citizen has to play its own specific role to bring about a positive change.
