Spanish 2 2011-2012 Expectations Instructor: Sr.

Jordan Fox Room 410

Introduction: Spanish 2 is the second year of a three year sequence that deals with more vocabulary, grammar, and culture. Students will also get a chance to learn more about the culture of Spanish and much more. In addition, this course will help your speaking, listening, and writing skills. This course is also the continuation of Spanish 1, which means you must know all the concepts of Spanish 1 in order to keep up with the fast pace of Spanish 2. Goals 1. 2. 3. Get exposed to the Spanish culture. is expected of you: When the bell rings, you must be in your seat. You will be considered tardy if so. Once the class begins, listen to the instructor for directions and rundown of the day. No talking when the teacher or any peers are talking. No profanity allowed! Have fun in class.

Materials Needed: Textbook - Realidades 2 Workbook & Audio Workbook - Realidades 2 Binder dedicated to Spanish. Pencils, pens, highlighters. Spanish Dictionary (recommended) Grading Scale, Weighing, and Makeup Work: All grades are rounded. 100%- 89.5% A 89.4% - 79.5% B 79.4% - 69.5% C 69.4% - 59.5% D 59.4% or below F Weighing: Assessment - 35% Notebooks - 30% Projects - 25% Participation - 10%

Tests or quizzes must be made up by a week. After a week, test or quizzes that are not made up will be considered a zero in your grade. If you were absent, please see me for an appointment in order to make up your test or quiz. Notebooks (cuadernos) are to be divided into four sections. - Classwork (Trabajo de la clase) which will include your warm-ups and other worksheets we do in class. - Vocabulary (Vocabuario) which includes all vocabulary. One side of the vocab must be in English and the other side must be in Spanish. - Notes (Apuntes) which we will take in class often. - Homework (Tarea) which includes all the homework you have done for the unit. You will get a chapter log in order for me to stamp the log when each homework assignment has been completed. A stamp is worth 5 points each, and half-credit work is worth 2 points. Notebooks cant be turned in late. Projects can be turned in late with a 10% deduction for each day after the due date. Participation points will be awarded for each month. This includes being in class on time, participating in class by raising your hand, and being on task. This can make or break your grade in this class!
