October 2011
Dear Church Family and Friends, All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness so that the man (woman) of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work. (2 Timothy 3:16,17) One of the chief utilizers of Scripture for these purposes is the Holy Spirit of God, who continually takes the words on the pages and applies them to our lives. I am continually amazed at how what I read in Scripture that morning is directly applicable to some situation the very same day that I read it. That is powerful stuff! As Joyce Meyer says, There is life in the Word! If we are faithful in our daily diet of Scripture, then God will use it to breathe spiritual life and vitality into our daily lives. We will finish our narrative emphasis in 2011 and in 2012 emphasize Poetry, Wisdom Literature, and the Gospels. May God bless our wisdom and understanding through the coming year! Chapter-a-day Bible Readings for 2012 January Proverbs 1-31 February Romans (1-16), Song of Songs (1-8), James (1-5) March Psalms 1-31 April Matthew (1-28), Psalms 32-33 May Psalms 34-64 June Ecclesiastes (1-12), Psalms 65-82 July Mark (1-16), Psalms 83-98 August Job 1-15, Psalms 99-114 September John (1-21), Psalms 115-122 (2 days for 119) October Job 16-42, Psalms 123-126 November Psalms 127-143, Hebrews (1-13) December Psalms 144-150, Luke (1-24) In His Steps,

Peggy Phillips read the following in the July 2011 edition of Our Daily Bread and wanted to share it with you. Thrown together as seatmates for an 8-hour train ride, a retired US ambassador and I quickly clashed as he sighed when I pulled out my Bible. I took the bait. At first, we traded one-liners aimed at goading the other or scoring points. Gradually, though, bits and pieces of our respective life stories started creeping into the discussion. Curiosity got the better of both of us and we found ourselves asking questions instead of feuding. A political science major in college and a political junkie by hobby, I was intrigued with his career, which included two prominent ambassadorships. Strangely enough, his questions to me were about my faith. How I became a believer was what interested him most. The train ride ended amicably, and we even traded business cards. As he left the train, he turned to me and said, By the way, the best part of your argument isnt what you think Jesus can do for me. Its what Hes done for you. In John 9, as on that train, God reminds us that the best story is the one we know intimately: Our own encounter with Jesus Christ. Practice telling your story of faith to loved ones and close friends so that youll be able to tell it clearly to others. Randy Kilgore
You may be tempted to debate To change anothers view, But nothing speaks more powerfully Thank what Christ did in you. Sper

Dear Church Family, Thank you for your gift in honor of our mother, Helen Skramstad, which you gave to our worship ministry. Your love and friendship is cherished more than youll ever know. May God continue to bless your fellowship mightily in the days ahead. Gratefully yours, George, Pat, Arvin, Joyce and the Skramstad Family Dear Church Family, Thank you so much for all of your cards, prayers and phone calls! It is all appreciated so much! Love, Lillian Dear Friends at HPCOG, Greetings from East Africa where seven weeks ago the new nation of South Sudan was born. After a five decade long, turbulent, and often violent struggle, July 9th saw the people of South Sudan dancing in the streets as they celebrated their hard-earned freedom. We are excited to see what God is going to do in this new nation and ask you to continue praying with us for Gods favor on our outreach and relationships. Thank you so much for your gift in July in support of the Hope4Sudan Walkathon. This gift and your prayers are enabling our Mango Ministry team to bring hope and healing to the people of South Sudan. Shalom, Joy Phillips
Kid's Club
Well, it seems it is really time to start thinking fall. Very soon the leaves will be changing color and God will be blessing us with a beauty that only our Master Artist can provide. On October 12th, the Kid's Club will be meeting again, and it will be exciting to see just what the Master Artist has in store for us. Mrs. Ritchie always prays for God's inspiration before each meeting, so if you are in grades K through 3, be sure to come out. Surely God will bless with something good. Mrs. Canning will also be present for kids in grades 4-6. All meetings begin at 7:00. However, a light supper is provided at 6:30 PM, free of charge if families would like to come and eat first. There is something for parents and siblings to take part in at 7:00 as well.
