Daily lesson plan Subject: Physics Class : Date : Time: Attendance: /40 Topic: 3.

Forces and Pressure Sub topic: 3.1 Understanding pressure Previous knowledge: Student have general concept of force and area Learning Outcomes: At the end of class students are able to: (a) Define pressure and state that P = F/A. (b) Describe application of pressure. (c) Solve problem involving pressure. Noble / Moral values : Having an interest and curiosity toward the environment, realising that science is a means to understand nature, being objective, having critical and analytical thinking and being cooperative. Creative and Critical Thinking Skills (CCTS) : Predicting, attributing, comparing and contrasting, analysing Teaching Aids : Straw, potatoes, clay and ruler.

Steps Orientation ( 10 minutes)

Contents Strategy : - Demonstrate that when large force is applied to small area, the pressure exerted to that area is large. - A straw can be used to stab a potato.

Eliciting ideas (10 minutes)

Strategy : Define pressure and use previous demonstration to relate P = F/A

Restructuring of ideas (20 minutes)

Strategy: Demonstration, observation and discussion Students are told to

Teaching and learning activities 1. Teacher shows to students a straw and a potato. 2. The whole class are asked whether the straw can stab the potato. 3. A student then being asked by teacher to validate the class answer. 4. Student then told to pick a friend to do some demonstration at the front of the class. 5. The picked student is told to hold and stab the potato using a straw. 6. Teacher asked student: - What can be observed from that demonstration? - Why the small straw can stab a potato? 1. Students then asked, what are relationships between force and area of the straw to pressure? 2. Students are told that P = F/A with the help of teacher 1. Students are told to form a pair. 2. Students are given a cube of clay. 3. Students are asked to cut the clay

using the large area of the ruler. Student then asked to cut the clay using the smaller area of the ruler. Students are asked to observe the different between those cutting. Students are told to list all the observation on the whiteboard. Teacher than relate the observations to the formula of P = F/A. Students are told to read short sentence that been given by teacher. Teacher told the students to analysing all the possible consequences when force applied to small area and vice versa. Student with teacher guidance make a conclusion. Students are told to read question 2. Students are asked, what are important informations from question 2? Teacher with the help of student are answering

analysing, relating and comparing and contrasting. Scientific skills: Controlling variables Noble values: realising that science is a means to understand nature and being cooperative

Science process skill: Making inference, measuring and using numbers. Thinking skills: relating and comparing and contrasting Scientific skills: Interpreting data Noble values: having critical and analytical thinking

Reflection (10 minutes)

Strategy: Discussion

question 2. 7. Students are told to answer question 1. 8. Student with the help of teacher check all of the answer. 1. Student are asked, - What have we learned today? - What is formula that we learn today? - Why small area produced high pressure? - In what area that P = F/A being used? Shows some examples. 2. Students are told to do exercise 3.1 and they need to submit those work sheets on Friday.

Science process skills: Classifying Thinking skills: Attributing, comparing and contrasting. Scientific skills: Classifying Noble values: Having critical and analytical thinking and being objective.
