Congratulations to Jessica Kelsey who took
part in the Central Gauteng Aquatics Level 2
Junior Champs in Germiston at the end of
January. She took a Gold medal in the 50m
Butterfly and also came 4th in both the 100m
Butterfly and 200m Freestyle. She has also
made a qualifying time for the South African
National Level 2 for the 50m fly and will swim
in Newcastle in March. What an

EQUESTRIAN
At the Equestrian Interschools held in early
February, Alessandra Masella and Kayla
Privett placed well in the Class 3 (4th and
20th out of 35) and Class 4 (3rd and 18th out
of 26) Dressage Pre-Novice. They scored a
total of 359 points for their school. Well done
Girls!!!
FISHING
Bryandale is very proud of Michael Elmira
who represented Central Gauteng in the
National Fishing Competition in Jeffery’s Bay
in January 2006.
CELL PHONES
We have decided to put a complete ban on
cellphones. Please do not allow your children
to bring cellphones to school. We have some
children who are accessing pornographic sites
while waiting for parents in the afternoon.

STARTING TIME
We are aware of the parents’ concerns with
regard to the new school starting time and the
traffic congestion. We have been working on
this and will inform you of various changes
that will take place.
We plan to start at 07h30 and close at
13h30. We will also extend the first break. The
school timetable will have to change. Please

RETURN OF PROPERTY
Our stock-take at the end of last year revealed
that many children have not returned school

no Bryandale text books, reading books,
number cards, alphabet cards or plastic blocks
at home (mainly Foundation Phase
equipment). The high cost of replacing this
equipment forces us to make every effort to
retrieve all Bryandale property. We have had
such a good response and really would
like it to be a 100% retrieval exercise.

HEAD LICE
It’s nit-picking time again. Please will you
check your children’s hair? We must reiterate
that if your child has head lice (pediculosis)
he/she may not come to school. Speak to
your pharmacist, who will give you advice on
what to do. Head lice is contagious. Spreading
occurs by direct contact with hair or objects
such as hats, combs, headphones, etc.
Symptoms
• Itchy scalp
• Gray lice in hair
• Red bite marks on scalp
• White nits (eggs) in hair or on scalp

given to each to pupil in the class which raises
