ATMN:SYS-NetM V6.2

1. Introduction
NetM V6.2 is used for the operation, administration and maintenance of telecommunication networks. NetM V6.2 can be configured as a Single Machine (SiM), as Single Server (SiS) or as Client/Server (C/S with FS or HA-FS) architecture. NetM V6.2 provides the following: O&M functionality for EWSD Classic, EWSD Innovation and SURPASS components, multi terminal capability to manage the EWSD base for further applications, used to ensure the operability of EWSD

Never use the Built-In DomainAdministrator for any test step except it is explicitly requested. Please make a copy of this user and use this copy if you need domain administrator rights. Users with NetM administrator rights should not have domain administrator rights. The user with NetM administrator rights used in this document was created from a Windows Domain User and mostly called NetMAdmin. There may be some steps which are not applicable for your project (esp. Administration and Operation). These steps have to be skipped. Take care that you have installed the latest NetM version incl. the latest HTML-DocSet for NetM Base System before you start the acceptance test. The screen shots in this manual are only for better understanding. There may be some differences in the content compared to your installation. Please avoid any password change during the acceptance test except it is explicitly requested to avoid inconsistencies.

NetM User Administration

This chapter describes some basic tests to check the security of NetM User Administration.

1 1.1

Check the NetM User Administration Try to login as an existing Active Directory user who is not assigned as NetM-User - The user must not get any NetManager applications.

1.2

Try to login as NetM-User who has only assigned the NetM Application Workbench - The user must not be able to run any other assignable application than the Workbench. - The user must not be able to send command to the switch via BMML command line.

1.3

Try to operate with a NetM-UG/NE combination where only one task STATSSP is assigned - The user must not be able to send other commands then STATSSP to the switch.

Restore

If the file system backup has finished successfully, it is recommended to restore selected files in order to be sure the backup is done completely. The best way is to restore the last two saved files because the tape has to be winded to the beginning and then again to the end to restore these files. This procedure describes not a complete restore, only a file restore. The complete restore is described in the Backup, Restore and Archiving Manual.

File restore

File system recoveries are performed with the NetWorker User GUI. The following procedure is valid for all file system recoveries on each NetM server machine: File server (FS), Communication Server (CS), Application Server (AS), MetaFrame Server (MFS). In all cases, the NetWorker User GUI is started locally at the server whose file system is to be restored. The NetWorker User GUI should always be started from the command line with the backup server name as argument to ensure that the correct NetWorker Server is connected. Hint: recommended for information during restore, please open the NetWorker GUI, click Start / Programs / NetWorker Group / NetWorker Administrator and change to the tab Monitor. 1 Delete a file 1. Logon as domain administrator to the backupserver 2. Open a Windows Explorer 3. Delete the file E:\nsr\logs\savegrp.log 2 Recover the file 1. Start NetWorker User GUI: Start / Programs / NetWorker Group / NetWorker User 2. Click the button Recover. 3. select source client: <backupserver> 4. click ok 5. select destination client: <backupserver> 6. click ok The Recover window opens and all backed up directories are displayed. 7. On the left pane expand the tree to the deleted file: E:\nsr\logs\ 8. On the right pane select the file to be restored savegrp.log 9. Click in main menu on File Mark (the file is now marked with a blue check mark) 10. Click to main menu Options and select the item Recover Options 11. In the section Duplicate File Resolution select the radio button Overwrite Existing File. 12. Click OK. 13. Click in main menu on File Start Recovery to start restoring the file. It is recommended to supervise the complete restore phase: - the NetWorker User to see that there is progress - the NetWorker Administrator for any output of the NetWorker Server

Restore is finish with the following messages: Received 1 file from NSR Server <BS name> recover completion time

Check the result of restore Check that the deleted file exists again E:\nsr\logs\savegrp.log

NetMDBGroup 2.) DB node 3.) G:\. The database resource netm.world and the NetMNotfiyServer itself can be in status offline or failed. 10 Open the NetWorker Administrator to see backup/restore messages of BS If NetWorker Server requests further tapes during the recovery process, a message is issued on the Pending Messages tab. Load these tapes and perform an inventory if this is the case. 11 Run recovdb.exe The recovdb.exe has to be launched from the command line. 1. Open a command prompt and change to the bin directory of %NetMLocalActiveBase%\BaR: cd /d %NetMLocalActiveBase%\Bar\bin 2. Start the DB recovery with the following command: recovdb.exe NetM.<domainname> -ONCTFILE The database service name must be fully qualified including the domain name if the entry in the TNSNAMES.ORA file specifies it in that format (see the examples below). This includes making a backup of the recovered database. Examples for recovdb: recovdb.exe NetM.E49.netmtest.mchh.siemens.de -ONCTFILE 12 Only in case of restoring the NetM database on HA file server: 1. After recovery of database is finished, start up node 2 again. 2. Verify that the database becomes online (via Cluster Administrator or Fail Safe Manager). A30828-X1170-S034-03-7641 117
