THE FREEDOM TO LOVE CAMPAIGN

The Issue
Our LGBT friends in Baguio City, Philippines are under attack for exercising their right to marriage and family (UDHR Article 16). They have been called kadiri (disgusting) by Bishop Teodoro Bacani and may possibly be declared persona non grata by the city council through the resolution of Councilors Philian Louise Weygan-Allan and Edison R. Bilog. This is a clear violation of their rights and a clear sign of ignorance of the declaration of several leading medical groups as well as the World Health Organization that homosexuality is not a disorder and therefore, not kadiri.

The Demand
Offensive behavior towards some of our friends is offensive behavior towards our whole community. We will not let anyone, whether they are from the government or the church, call us kadiri and pronounce us unwelcome in any city for exercising our rights. Thus we demand that:

(1) Bishop Teodoro Bacani issue a formal public apology for calling us kadiri. (2) Councilors Philian Louise Weygan-Allan and Edison R. Bilog withdraw their resolution to declare as persona non grata the 8 couples who underwent same-sex holy unions, the pastors who solemnized their unions, and any future couples who wish to go through the same holy unions in the future.

The Action
In order to make this demand heard, we call on LGBT, LGBT allied organizations, and concerned individuals to show solidarity by

lending us their logo. This image is a skeleton of the expected end product. Each logo will be plugged into the numbered squares. Once we have a total of 50 organizations and individuals, the resulting image may be downloaded by signatories or any concerned individual. In a concerted effort, we will all clog the emails and mailboxes of Bishop Teodoro Bacani, Councilor Philian Louise Weygan-Allan, and Councilor Edison R. Bilog by sending them the image along with a letter of demand through email and snail mail. You may also print out this list of signatories and attach it to the letter to add more strength to our call. We do this with the hope that they realize that our demands are based on nothing but love and respect for human rights.
