PG Diploma in Applied Management Project Guidelines for Semester III Project

Scope of Project Study the global market environment for a specific product. Formulate a complete marketing strategy for the product with respect to the country where the product is to be launched.

You may select any product that you so wish. The categories of products may range from leather products, to agricultural produce to ready-to-wear items. You are also free to select the country where you want to launch the product. Once you have identified the country and the product, please do seek guidance and approval from your faculty. For the product that you have identified, you are required to: Conduct an in-depth research based on secondary data (published information from newspaper, magazines, the Internet, Embassy of the country in India etc.) about the host country. A structured interview schedule also has to be designed for this purpose. Primary data may be collected from manufacturers or marketers of the product in the home country. Study the marketing mix for the product category that you have selected i.e.: the product, its characteristics and features, the price, the placement method used for the product category and the promotional strategy used by this category (4 Ps of Marketing) and identify the required modifications for launch in the new country. Study the factors that influence the consumers buying decision for the product category in the home country and compare then with those in the host country. Identify the environmental factors that affect the business model for the launch of the product in the host country. Evaluation Parameters You will be evaluated on two broad parameters: 1) Detailed Report and 2) Presentation. Your report needs to include the following details: 1. Index 2. Executive Summary (with the major findings of the Project) 3. Objective of the Project 4. Background of the Product category and host country 5. Methodology Used 6. Data/ Information Collected

7. Interpretation of the data/ information collected 8. Conclusion 9. Appendix: Also attach sample copy of the formats used for collecting information, Details (brochures etc.) of the product category studied and any other relevant document. Project Presentation You are required to make a slide-based presentation of the project carried out by you highlighting the following: Objective of the project Appropriateness of the methodology used Key findings from the primary and secondary sources Your model strategy for the launch of the product in the host country Assistance Please seek clarification and approval from your faculty regarding the organisations you propose to visit. If you so desire, the faculty will also issue a letter of introduction for you. Do ensure that you discuss your progress with your faculty at regular interval and seek assistance/advice in getting the required information.
