Role, responsibilities and boundaries as a teacher in terms of the teaching/training cycle

Assignment 1
Imran hameed

Role, responsibilities and boundaries are evolving qualities within the teacher which are assessed and reflected upon using the teaching/training cycle; a cycle of assessment, planning and review. Teachers are cultural organizers, cultural mediators, and orchestrates of social contexts for learning (Gay, 2000). Role The main role of a teacher is to facilitate its learners in terms of learning process. The teacher should ensure that the sessions aims and objectives are meaningful and applicable to students. He should constantly assess and re-evaluate his teaching methods. I teach computer science subjects where motivation level changes with learners practical experience and subject understanding. My role is to create a safe learning environment to establish open and trusting relationships. Along with that upgrading learners skills and knowledge by adopting various teaching and learning methods. And involving practical activities to assess and justify the learning outcomes and objectives. Responsibilities The main responsibility of the teacher is to continually reassess development and change during the course and create a seamless transition to ensure smooth delivery. As students develop better understanding of aims and objectives their needs change and this must be reflected in continual reassessment. It is the teachers responsibility to monitor, evaluate and improve the quality and effectiveness of their delivery by taking into account learners changing needs. In computer science studies, learners are motivated and encouraged to take responsibility for their own learning. My responsibility is to encourage the progression in students to allow their personal growth and development to be useful to their lives. One-to-one tutorials allow the students to demonstrate their development of understanding in a meaningful way. And it is my responsibility to identify the changing needs and re-evaluate the delivery of course. Boundaries Boundaries ground our ethics; they are core to recognizing our limitations and realizing when changes may be needed. Obvious boundaries such as the appropriateness of the teacher/learner relationship and disciplinary lines for misconduct are strong ethical issues which are at the core of every teacher. A teacher must be able to recognize when additional help is required to further the learning experience. An example of it ca be when I am guiding or helping my students for the assignment work, I should always keep in mind that to what level I can involve myself for getting the outcomes. And never cross my ethical boundaries when dealing with my learners. Conclusion The teaching cycle provides a structural learning experience by assessing, planning and reviewing teachers work. So a teacher should always perform his roles and responsibilities to enhance the learning process and also recognize the ethical issues which are core to teacher and learner relationship and boundaries.
