Next Steps- Pilot implementation

1. Awareness workshops for selected sectors to disseminate results of sector study and create interest for implementation of solar technologies.

Textile Pharmaceutical Paper and Pulp Electroplating Food Processing

GIZ, Herz , Sept 2011

3-4 Regional Workshops Involve Ministry of Textile and Textile associations National level event with key players Involve Ministry of Pharmacy and Pharmaxil, IDMA, IPA,GIZs ASEM programme One national and 1-2 regional workshops Indian Paper Manufacturers Association etc 2-3 workshops at cluster level Involve local industry association and MSME Workshops both cluster and central level

Food associations and clusters

Next Steps: Solar application in industries (ctd.)

2. Screening of Industries: Screen interested industries to takeout units where solar applications are not possible due technical reasons such as energy demand, production patterns, area availability etc. 3. Prefeasibility Analysis: Invite basic data for prefeasibility analysis (application form) identifying potential, technology, broad sizing of system, savings and economic analysis (about 10-20 units per sector). 4. Energy Audit and design of system: Through selected consultant carry out technical and economic feasibility studies of selected industries. Develop proposals for MNRE support, content structure to meet MNRE guidelines. 5. Present results to the owners/ management of respective industries to secure their buy in and commitment for funding.

Next Steps: Solar application in industries (ctd.)

6. Proposals submitted to a joint MNRE-GIZ committee- Technical evaluation as per MNREs pre-requisites and conditions. Selection of 1-2 projects per sector based on the ComSolar project key considerations i.e. innovation and commercial viability, high replication potential and commitment of the industry 7. Finalization of partner industry for implementation and signing of MoU. 8. Detailed Engineering: Carry out, system design, detailed engineering, specifications for tenders, cost estimates etc. and handhold them in submission of application to MNRE. 9. Project implementation and monitoring: Monitor and document the performance & practices for replication in the similar sector.
