The Quality Department, working under the above

philosophy, has been assigned the following responsibilities:

-- Inspection of raw material.

-- Inspection at different stipulated stages of manufacture.
-- Laying down testing procedures and assisting external
inspection agencies.
-- Prescribing and maintaining quality documents.

The external agencies of inspection are inspectors

appointed by the customers, including third party inspectors
like RITES, LLOYD, PDIL etc.

Desig n Dep ar tm en t.

The group has expertise of designing all types of heat

exchangers as per national and international standards
including IS, TEMA, ASME and any other standard specified
by the customers. Design department initiates and
supervises the required R & D work. A state of art Computer

- Aided Design (CAD) facility has been installed for

designing and drafting of heat exchangers.
Testi ng an d I nsp ec tion.

As a part of stringent and systematic quality control check,

all raw materials are inspected and test certificates are
obtained for each and every supply.

We have both pneumatic and hydraulic pressure testing set

up for all heat transfer equipment manufactured by us. The
range of pneumatic testing is upto 20 BARS and hydraulic
testing upto 50 BARS .

A hea t exchan ge r is a device for transferring heat from

one fluid to another, where the fluids are separated by a
solid wall so that they never mix. They are widely used in
refrigeration, air conditioning, space heating, power
production, and chemical processing. One common example
of a heat exchanger is the radiator in a car, in which the hot
radiator fluid is cooled by the flow of air over the radiator
surface.
Heat exchangers may be classified according to their flow
arrangement. In parallel-flow heat exhangers, the two fluids
enter the exchanger at the same end, and travel in parallel
to one another to the other side. In counterflow heat
exchangers the fluids enter the exchanger from opposite
ends. The counter current design is most efficient, in that it
can transfer the most heat. See countercurrent exchange.
In a cross-flow heat exchanger, the fluids travel roughly
perpendicular to one another through the exchanger.

For efficiency, heat exchangers are designed to maximize

the surface area of the wall between the two fluids, while
minimizing resistance to fluid flow through the exchanger.
The exchanger's performance can also be affected by the
addition of fins or corrugations in one or both directions,
which increase surface area and may channel fluid flow or
induce turbulence.

A typical heat exchanger is the shell and tube heat

exchanger which consists of a series of finned tubes,
through which one of the fluids runs. The second fluid runs
over the finned tubes to be heated or cooled.

Another type of heat exchanger is the plate heat exchanger.

It directs flow through baffles so that the fluids are
separated by plates with very large surface area. This plate
type arrangement can be more efficient than the shell and
tube. Advances in gasket technology have made the plate
type increasingly practical.
Condition monitoring of heat exchanger tubes may be
conducted through eddy current inspection. This is often
simulated through the use of computational fluid dynamics
or CFD. of whales. Arteries to the skin carrying warm
blood are intertwined with veins from the skin carrying cold
blood causing the warm arterial blood to exchange heat
with the cold venous blood. This reduces overall heat loss
by the whale when diving in cold waters.
