NATURAL DISASTERS  Keep calm
 Stay away from windows.
The term natural disaster refers to the enormous
material losses and human lives caused by
natural events or phenomena such as
earthquakes, floods, tsunamis, landslides,
deforestation, environmental pollution and others.
Natural phenomena, such as rain, earthquakes,
hurricanes or wind, become disasters when they
exceed a normal limit, generally measured
through a parameter. This varies depending on
the type of phenomenon,[citation needed] and
may be the Seismic Moment Magnitude (Mw), the
Richter scale for seismic movements, the Saphir-
Simpson scale for hurricanes, etc.
EARTHQUAKE
Earthquakes are wave vibrations of the Earth's
crust caused by the fracture of rocks inside the
earth.
Our country is located in a highly seismic area and
we must always be prepared for a high intensity
earthquake.
Prevention
 Establish a family emergency and evacuation
plan
 Have a briefcase for emergencies.
In the emergency
Immediate actions
 To communicate use text messages.
 Just use flashlight.
FLOOD
A flood is the occupation by water of areas that
are usually free of it, either due to the overflowing
of rivers and boulevards due to torrential rains or
melting ice, or seas due to rising tides above the
usual level or due to avalanches caused by tidal
waves .
Prevention
 Avoid building your house on the banks of
rivers.
In the emergency
 Do not try to cross a stream on foot.
 Stay away from downed power poles.
Immediate actions
 Do not step on or touch downed power lines.
 Floods cause contamination, try to clean,
disinfect and evaluate the home.
HUAYCOS
They are flows of mud and stones with great
destructive power, very common in Peru. They
form in the upper parts of the microbasins due to
the existence of loose soil layers on the surface or
unconsolidated soil deposits, which are removed
by rain.
Prevention
 Build in places where landslides have not
occurred.
 Plant trees and shrubs as these provide
stability to the soil.
In the emergency
 Remain calm at all times.
 Evacuate quickly to safe areas.
Immediate actions
 Avoid walking in the area where the flood
occurred.
 Only if you are qualified do you collaborate in
rescuing people.
DROUGHT
Drought can be defined as a temporary anomaly
in which water availability falls below the statistical
requirements of a given geographical area. Water
is not enough to supply the needs of plants ,
animals and humans .
If the phenomenon is linked to the central lake of
water existing in the area for human and industrial
use, we speak of water scarcity .
Cause
 It is the lack of rain or precipitation.

Consequence
 Agricultural: lack of water causes lack of crop
development.
ISSUE:
 Lack of guarantee in water supplies for NATURAL DISASTERS
different uses.
