The purpose of our new status is directly related to our new role - that is, to declare the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His wonderful light. The primary purpose of the Church is thus, to grow together to become the spiritual community that declares the mighty acts of God. Our calling is a missionary calling. We are saved to tell others. We are blessed to be a blessing.

ME, A MISSIONARY 1 PETER 2:9-10
At our conversion, radical changes took place. One of the key changes is that we are given a new status, as well as a new role. Specifically, the apostle Peter points out the new designations given to us: I. chosen race (genus eklekton - ) it echoes Isaiah 43:20-21 it suggests that we become a new specie of human beings this is because of what God has done, not because of who we are or what we have done we are chosen to: bear fruits John 15:16 be holy and blameless Ephesians 1:3-4 proclaim His goodness 1 Peter 2:10 II. royal priesthood (basileion hierateuma - ) it echoes Exodus 19:6 it emphasizes the priesthood of every believer it involves a dual status: king/priest the kingly aspect would stress on the authority extended to us; the priestly aspect would emphasize our responsibility to represent God before men and to represent men before God III. holy nation (ethnos hagion - ) it echoes Ex. 19:6 it stresses that we belong to a new ethnicity (ethnic grouping); as Christians, we are all related by blood (the Blood of the Lamb) it is a holy ethnicity - totally different from the rest of the world; fully consecrated unto Gods service IV. Gods possession (laos eis peripoiesin - ) it echoes Isaiah 43:20-21 it emphasizes that we are Gods unique property (cf. 1 Cor. 6:20) it emphasizes the goal we are destined for although it is not evident as of now V. people of God (laos theou - ) it echoes Hosea 1:8 as Gentiles, we were formerly not Gods people; but now, we have received mercy and we are considered to be the Israel of God
