IMPORTANT

ALL COURSEWORK MUST BE SUBMITTED IN THE COURSEWORK SUBMISSION BOXES BEFORE 14:00 ON THE DUE DATE OR IT WILL BE MARKED AS LATE

ALL COUREWORK WITH AN AUTHORISED EXTENSION MUST BE SUBMITTED DIRECT (by hand) TO THE COURSEWORK OFFICER BY 14.00 OR IT WILL BE MARKED AS LATE

IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE STUDENT TO ALLOW SUFFICIENT TIME TO PRINT AND BIND WORK IN TIME FOR THE DEADLINE. IT IS ALSO THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE STUDENT TO ENSURE THE PROCEDURE HAS BEEN FOLLOWED, OTHERWISE IT WILL BE RECORDED AS LATE

Staple Assignment Submissin Form to top left hand corner of coursework

If more than 20 pages and you need to bind your work, include the Assignment Submission Form in the spiral to the front of the coursework. Place in appropriate coursework submission box in the Common Room

HOW TO.SUBMIT GROUP COURSEWORK

IMPORTANT EACH STUDENT WITHIN A GROUP MUST PRINT THEIR OWN ASSIGNMENT SUBMISSION FORM

ALL GROUP SUBMISSIONS MUST BE BOUND AND THE ASSIGNMENT SUBMISSION FORMS INCLUDED IN THE SPIRAL TO THE FRONT OF THE COURSEWORK

Follow Steps 17 Each student must sign their own Assignment Submission Form Place in appropriate coursework submission box in the Common Room

ONLY if instructed to do so, you can submit coursework electronically using the NESS system. Just follow these simple steps: 1. Follow Steps 1 to 4 as previously described for Manual Submission 2. Then follow Step 8 below.

Select module

Select exercise name

Select + next to Coursework


Select Submit Attach work

An automated e mail will be sent from NESS as a receipt of coursework submitted.

HOW TO.. CHECK RECEIPTS

IMPORTANT Ensure you check your e mails regularly. Any anomalies must be reported to the Coursework Officer immediately.

Within 2 working days of the original due date the Coursework Officer will scan the front page of your Assignment Submission Form. PLEASE NOTE : Your work is not scanned until after the due date even if submitted early The NESS system will automatically send you an e mail to confirm receipt of the coursework. Please keep all these receipts in in a folder within your e mail account. You must also keep a track of all coursework submissions throughout the year. 1. Follow Steps 1 to 4 as previously described for Submission 2. Then follow Step 9 below. Step 9

Click on + next to Coursework Click on Coursework History to show you a full history of all coursework submitted throughout the year

HOW TO .RETRIEVE MARKS AND FEEDBACK

The Coursework Officer will send an e mail to let you know the coursework is ready to collect from the Coursework Office. You will also see a note on NESS informing you that marks and/or comments have been released on your home page. (Follow Steps 1 to 4 as previously described for Submission).

HOW TO.APPLY FOR AN EXTENSION

IMPORTANT
ALL COUREWORK WITH AN AUTHORISED EXTENSION MUST BE SUBMITTED DIRECT (by hand) TO THE COURSEWORK OFFICER BY 14:00 OR IT WILL BE MARKED AS LATE

Use the NEW CeG PEC Form located on line at https://ce-gs14.ncl.ac.uk/ CeG.Internal/students/Forms/Forms.aspx or outside the Coursework Office in the Student Common Room.

All requests must be completed and signed, together with supporting evidence, and submitted to the Coursework Officer. Do NOT include any other member of staff in any communication with a request. It is the responsibility of the Coursework Officer to liaise with appropriate staff where necessary. Failure to follow the procedure may result in a delay in response. Within 7 days of receipt of the extension request, the Coursework Officer is responsible for updating you on the status of your request. Do not assume your extension has been authorised. You will be notified via an e mail if your request has been authorised OR not. The maximum allowable extension for UGs is 14 days beyond the original due date. The maximum allowable extension for flexible/postgraduate students is up to 3 months. All requests must be submitted within 7 days of the original due date, otherwise they will not be considered. Coursework submitted beyond the due date and without an extension will be 11 marked as LATE and will incur a penalty of a maximum 40% for St 1-3 UGs and 50% for St 4 UGs/PGs/Flexibles.

DIARY In the top right hand corner of your home page within NESS a Diary appears. This will indicate any coursework that is due in the near future: E.g. CEG1001 due on 17th September @ 14:0011 days

SUGGESTIONS BOX If you would like to make a suggestion to the School, click on the Suggestions Box link. All suggestions are anonymous unless you indicate otherwise

HOME PAGE Look out for messages posted by the Coursework Officer which will also appear on your Home Page. E.g. Collect your box file by 17th September @ 2.00 pm OR The coursework Office is closed next Mon-Wed due to holiday/illness/general apathy
