THE GAP

Is there a gap between Genesis 1:1 and verse 2? = Full understanding of the issue at hand can only be realized if we can agree on some basic premises which are the; what,why,when,where,how:

What is a gap? = according to Strong's Hebrew and Greek dictionaries it is a split,division,rent,schism.

The gap between Gen.1:1 & 2 is an undetermined number of years,resulting in a chaotic earth,this event provided the very foundation of the plan and purpose of God from eternity past to eternity future touching;the kingdom program which is the main theme of the Bible and the redemption program that is provided alongside with it. It is essential to note that before any redemption was provided and before time was dispensed,God is primarily a King(Psa.10:16) and therefore belong to him the kingdom,and there are basically two kingdoms and they are; 1)The Kingdom of God =Mark 1:15. 2) The Kingdom of Heaven=Mat.4:17. These two kingdoms are not one and the same, as some traditional thinkers claim,they are different in many aspects like: Mark 1:15 =The Kingdom of God is spiritual in nature (Luke 17:20-21;Rom.14:17). Mat.4:17 =The Kingdom of Heaven is physical in nature(Luke 1:30-33;Luke 4:5,6).

God as a King(Psa.10:16) can and as he will, delegates his kingdoms to whoever qualifies in his sight and the first king to whom God delegated these kingdoms is none other than "his majesty" ? Lucifer!. He was given several things which is very essential to note because they will explain and put in a right perspective a lot of things in this present dispensation:

Job 38:1-7 = Shows that before Genesis 1:1 angelic beings were already existing and therefore created. (Col.1:16) Ezekiel 28:13 = The original earth that was Gen.1:1 was created perfect(Ecc.3:14;Prov.8:22-31) and given as Lucifer's dominion. Isaiah 14:12,13 = Lucifer has a throne and it speaks of power and authority and dominion. Job 41:31 = He is a king. Matthew 25:41;Revelation 12:9 ="his angels" are his subjects.

From here we can rightly say that both kingdoms were delegated to Lucifer as God's light bearer,"the anointed cherub that covereth"(Ezek.28:14) but there is a time when pride came into Lucifer(Ezek.28:14-17),and that is where the trouble begins and he rebelled against God.

REBELLION (Ezek.28:13-17;Isaiah 14:12-14)

And Lucifer who became Satan(if your bible is not King James Bible you will not find the identity of Satan who he was!) staged a rebellion and put up a challenge by pitting up his throne (" ...I will exalt my throne...";"...I will be like the most High."Isaiah 14:12-14) against the throne of God. This event was expounded by the apostle Peter in 2Peter 3:5-13 testifying that there are three sets of world;"...the world that then was...";"...the heavens and the earth which are now...";'...new heavens and a new earth..." The King James Bible is the only authority that reinforces this truth,notice the singular "heaven" in Gen.1:1.

Gen.1:1=Speaks of "...the world that then was..." Gen.1:3 up to Rev.20 = Speaks of "...the heavens and the earth which are now..." Rev.21- speaks of "...new heavens and a new earth..." which will keep on expanding all throughout eternity(Isaiah 9:6,7)

The KJB neatly spread out the three sets of world from Genesis to Revelation,thus telling us that there is no other way to study but only by observing right division.(2 Tim.2:15)

Satan's rebellion was a battle and clash of power between the Devil's throne and God's throne and with this we can conclude that this causes the chaotic state of the earth in Gen.1:2"And the earth was without form and void;and darkness was upon the face of the deep.And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters." This period within the gap brings in a lot of events that affects everything regarding God's plan and purpose for the kingdom and redemption program:

The earth "that then was" was judged as it were without form and void,darkness looms over it.(2Pet.3:5,6) Lucifer became the Devil,and Satan.(Isa.14:12;Rev.12) A former cherub became the great dragon.(Ezek.28;Rev.12) He was taken to a temporary place up there in the heavenlies.(Job 38)

Angelic beings were divided,between the faithful and the fallen angels.(Eph.3:10;Eph.6:12)

THE FLOOD OF GENESIS 1:1 VS. NOAH'S FLOOD

2 Peter 3:5="For this they willingly are ignorant of,that by the word of God the heavens were of old,and the earth standing out of the water and in the water:" 2 Peter 3:6="Whereby the world that then was,being overflowed with water,perished:" 2 Peter 3:7="But the heavens and the earth,which are now,by the same word are kept in store,reserved unto fire against the day of judgement and the perdition of ungodly men." COMMENT:Careful comparison of the scriptures which is God's rule of interpretation (1Cor.2:13) will settle the issue,critics says that the above quoted verses are referring to Noah's flood,but careful reading of the passages will refute the claims of the critics:

1. 2 Peter 3:5="...the heavens were of old,and the earth..." vs. 2Peter3:7="But the heavens and the earth,which are now..."

Comment: Comparison of these two verses will explain that these are different sets of "heaven and earth"; which are the "old and now", events that happen between "the old and now sets of heavens and earth" are totally different; and the flood of Genesis 1:1 covers the whole solar system which is very evident in the ensuing days of re-creation, wherein body of waters were divided,thus forming firmaments (Gen.1:6-10),while the events during Noah's flood doesn't affect the heavenlies,but only upon earth, except for the windows of heaven(Gen.7:11-24).

2. 2Peter 3:5="...and the earth standing out of the water and in the water:"

Comment: The earth in Noah's flood was submerged under water(Gen.7:17-24) but the earth in 2Pet.3:5 says it is "out of the water and in the water".Two different events and manner of judgement;Noah's flood came about by the opening of the fountains of the great deep and opening of windows of heaven.The flood of Gen.1:1 which was described in 2Pet.3:5 is a result of God's judgement by flooding the whole universe and covering it with ice,freezing the whole system; Job 37:10,18 "By the breath of God frost is given:and the breathed of the waters is straightened.", Hast thou with him spread out the sky,which is strong ,and as a molten looking glass?" Job 38:29 "Out of whose womb came the ice? and the hoary frost of heaven who hath gendered it?" Job 38:30 "The waters are hid as with a stone,and the face of the deep is frozen."

THE GENERATIONS:

When the seven days of recreation was finished,God recorded a new set of the generations of the heavens and of the earth(Gen.2:4). There is a clear pattern that God keeps on changing and tend to ignore an evil generation by replacing it with a new one and that is the case in the following sets of generation:

1. The generation of "the earth that then was">replaced by>" But the heavens and the earth which are now..."(Gen.2:4) 2. The book of generation of ADAM the son of God(Luke 3:38) as was replaced by the book of generation of JESUS CHRIST (Gen.5:1;Mat.1:1),which of these two books of generation you belong?. 3. The generation of Adam's sons utterly disregarded Cain.(Gen.5:1-3) These are just as they say tip of the iceberg regarding some truth that will shed light on the issue at hand which is the gap between Gen.1:1 and Gen.1:2,this issue is fully packed with certain truths that was kept hidden by God but would want to reveal them in his own time and will. As to the time and period of this event, there are only two periods revealed and they are; 1. BEFORE THE FOUNDATION OF THE WORLD 2. FROM THE FOUNDATION OF THE WORLD These two periods are immediate events that followed right after that gap in Genesis,this will be our next topic if time will allow. It is definitely clear from the scriptures that there is a gap between Gen.1:1 and 1:2,this is not a theory but a Bible principle.
