Coming up with the topic -students will discuss the nature of academic reading -students will analyze various critical theories, and discuss their strengths and weaknesses -students will practice informal invention strategies such as brainstorming and freewriting -students will work on broadening and narrowing their topics 2. Researching the topic -students will work to find appropriate sources for the topic - students will summarize sources using various organization strategies - students will evaluate sources for appropriateness using following strategies: Is the evidence sufficient? Is something overlooked/omitted? Is argument reasonable? Is language appropriate?
