Researches among some schools have pinpointed several factors that influence greatly and to some certain extent cause mental disturbances. In other words, students nowadays have diverse attention on things and the latter include the diminishing or in other way to state, unfavorable academic deterioration of students. The emergence and thereafter furtherance on the development of technology as well as its implications have been noted to have supplemented and benefited human kind. It includes gadgets, new designs of appliances, easy communications, and tremendous yet safe transportation and also on the prolongation on expiration span of food and medicines. On the contrary are the adverse effects of these technologies on a certain group which precludes students which some sort hinder them from exercising good study habits. Time, effort and attention of students nowadays have greatly diverted into several activities such as internet surfing, online games, social networking sites, outdoor activities and texting. These aforementioned are done commonly by students and have alarmingly brought about negative impacts on students academic performances. During the previous years, literacy rate and learning capacities of students have remarkably shown excellent performances as to examinations given regularly. To note on this is that it was happening amidst or despite financial chaos and instability in school facilities since improvements have been just happening nowadays. A reason maybe is that destructions before are not as topsy-turvy and aggressively attacking the minds of students unlike today. The necessity to conduct this inquiry is to settle into a conclusion or conglomerate thereof to site after all have been conducted on how sleeping late or being in the state of sleepless affects the academic standing of high school students. In here is the cited scope that it limits only to St. Therese students, specifically high school students. This is to be spearheaded by and within students of School Year 2011-2012 The researcher is very much interested in knowing how high school students of the said school, in terms of academic performance, are affected by sleeping late at night as a regular habit or in a mean time that is why he delves on this study.

Also, several psychological and physical disturbances and or dysfunctions may also be anticipated to occur and arise. The notion in the part of the researcher that he ponders is that unnecessary activities might have caused students to sleep late.

Significance of the Study The study is considered very significant not just to the extent that data or results to be derived from here will be used as basis by interschool researchers and their researches and faculty but also to augment among other related literatures to serve as proofs on this incident.

This study will soon discover causes of this late sleeping habit by students and also will reveal the impacts of such. This shall pinpoint specifically the problems that might have been the results of the unhealthy habit. This may also serve as a basis for future parental and advisory services to be done sterner and more consolidated among themselves in prohibiting students in practicing the habit.

Scope and Delimitations This study is conducted for the purpose of knowing and verifying the effects of sleeping late at night to students academic performance. The scope is on St. Therese-Las Pinas City students only, specifically high school students. This is to be spearheaded by and within students of School Year 2011-2012. Each year level form first year high school to fourth year high school of the said institution shall have fifteen (15) representatives to be chosen randomly regardless of the sectioning thereof to answer the survey to be provided by the researcher. The survey shall strictly be answered individually to avoid influence of extreme groups or variables. In aggregate, sixty (60) respondents will be drawn and so sixty answers will also be derived from. This is so decided so as to avoid overgeneralization and bias among year levels. The same number of students per year level therefore is to be given the opportunity. The study shall take into process within a span of three weeks but to ascertain as maximum is within a month-length period. Gathering of data shall also be employed within the time span only.

Limitations of the Study

The out of control scenario in this study is said to be minimized by the researcher since most of the questions and answers provided by the researcher tend to be limited. Like in some sorts of check list and multiple choices questions. However, respondents free will to express answers is also observed in the survey providing them the chance to control some variables and add to the limitation of the researcher in handling results. Meanwhile, this can be seen through open ended questions and others-asking interrogations.
