Singapore, 25 Jan 2011 New APEC investment guide to promote transparency Issued by the APEC Secretariat

APEC has updated its investment guide for the Asia-Pacific region, which aims to improve transparency of investment policies and regulations and to enhance cross-border investment, fundamental to strong economic growth. Developed by the APEC Investment Experts Group, the "Guide to Investment Regimes of APEC Member Economies" is available for download from the APEC website. The guidebook, now in its seventh edition, is an authoritative resource for existing and potential investors in the region, providing clear and relevant information about policies, regulatory considerations and statutory requirements that effect investment in each economy. The guide aims to deepen business understanding of individual economies investment climates and to enable government officials to compare investment frameworks in the region to further liberalise their own investment regimes and promote business friendly policies. Information was sought from APEC members about their investment regimes, with 16 economies answering a standard set of questions for the guide. The questionnaires themselves

were completely updated for this edition, to more directly address the interests and needs of guide users. The online guide covers regulation of foreign investment, (including the process for investment and any conditions of investment), investment protection (including property rights, dispute settlement and flow of funds), treatment of foreign nationals or personnel of foreign firms as well as taxation. It also includes key contact information and web links in each of the economies. The video shows the man jump of the back of motorcycle and push a white van across the tracks before leaping back across tracks as the train narrowly missed him. After a brief discussion with the man driving the motorcycle, he got back on the motorcycle and the two drove away. This news item text is taken from Reuter UK My Rush Time as a Journalist I usually woke up at eight o'clock a.m. and went to the Press Center to check the daily schedule of briefings and press conferences. It was usually held by the United Nation officials or disaster mitigation team. It was challenging to visit different refugee camps to find soft stories, human interest stories. After that I went back to the Press Center to cover the press conferences of the day. It was heart breaking when I saw these survivors fight for food and secondhand clothing. Unfortunately as they said, the food and clothing were limited and inadequate. Emerging to glaring, fool noon, it was time to go back to Press Center to write stories and race against time. I was always fearing that the internet would come crushing down. After everything was done, only then I remembered to eat. Most times, I only ate once a day because I always had to rush and again it was difficult to find food. I had to travel quite far. I needed to spend a 30 to 45 minutes by car just to find fresh food.

How Television Works

Television is certainly one of the most influential forces of our time. Through the device called a television set or TV, you are able to receive news, sports, entertainment, information and commercials. The average American spends between two and five hours a day glued to "the tube"! Have you ever wondered about the technology that makes television possible? How is it that dozens or hundreds of channels of full-motion video arrive at your house, in many cases for free? How does your television decode the signals to produce the picture? How will the new

digital television signals change things? If you have ever wondered about your television (or, for that matter, about your computer monitor), then read on! In this article, we'll answer all of these questions and more. See the next page to get started. Watch your Kids While Watching TV Television becomes one of the most important devices which takes place in almost houses. It can unite all members of the family as well as separate them. However, is it important to know what your kids are watching? The answer is, of course, absolutely "Yes" and that should be done by all parents. Television can expose things you have tried to protect the children from, especially violence, pornography, consumerism and so on. Another research found that there is a significant relationship between the amount of time spent for watching television during adolescence and early adulthood, and the possibility of being aggressive. Meanwhile, many studies have identified a relationship between kids who watch TV a lot and being inactive and overweight. Considering some facts mentioning above, protect your children with the following tips:

Limit television viewing to one-two hours each day Do not allow your children to have a TV set in their own bedrooms Review the rating of TV shows which your children watch Watch television with your children and discuss what is happening in the show

The Advantages and Disadvantages of Home Office Everybody like home sweet home however making office at home is possible and recommend. Of course home office will has both advantage and disadvantage. Therefore it is wise to consider the strengths and weaknesses to have a home office. Some people will agree that having office at home will make benefit. It saves time. We need no commuting which occasionally takes a long time. Besides we are free to set the work schedule. Having home office will save money as we need not to purchase or lease of office space from rent companies. What make it more flexible is that we can set part or all parts of our home just as a real office. What we need is only a wireless router to cover all parts of our house with Internet. We can run our business wherever part of house we want, from living room, bed room, veranda, etc even we can make sell or purchase by online shopping for things we need. Furthermore Working at home might reduce stress, effort and time and divert it to other more productive things because while working, we are close to our families. However making home as office also has some disadvantages. For some people, keeping the schedule is hard in flexible time. Such people type will harder if they are working just from home. There will no clear border between working and breaking. Working just from home also reduces the possibility to meet new people. It is true that computer and Internet connection possibly relate people every time and everywhere but we will interact with them in a dimension which is not real face.

So considering carefully what we actually need in running our business is very recommended before choosing to have office at home or not.

For ages now, weve all had to refer to the new Spider-Man film as Untitled Spider-Man Reboot or Marc Webbs Spider-Man or Spider-Man: Based on the novel Push by Sapphire. Well, no longer! Now we we can all start calling it by its proper name, The Amazing Spider-Man. Yes, the title isnt a big shock, tying in with Spidey comic-book lore while at the same time being simple and, if anything, a bit generic. But then, who wants to mess with a hugely successful franchise? Except by, you know, completely taking it back to basics and restarting with a new Peter Parker, director etc. To announce the title, the studio shoved what it says is the first picture of Andrew Garfield in the full costume, though given that the mask covers his face, that could be anyone in there. The design of the new mask, however, definitely ups the arachnid influence with those buggy yellow eyes and, for the first time, we get a closer look at both his gloves and web-shooters. Click on the pic in our gallery below to get a high-res version for you to peruse. So the big question is: whaddya think? Approve? Loathe? We want to see it in action before we make a real judgement, but its certainly a change from the Raimi years.

The Amazing Spider-Man will arrive on July 3 next year with Garfield, Emma Stone, Rhys Ifans, Denis Leary, Campbell Scott, Irrfan Khan, Sally Field and Martin Sheen among the cast.
