EFFECTS OF SELECTED 1197 TITILLATING FILMS AND X – RATED VIDEOS
ON THE SEX ORIENTATION OF FOURTH YEAR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS
IN METRO MANILA.

MIA FILIPINA B. MABUTI ET. AL. 1997

Conceptual Framework
The Social Learning Theory, as discussed earlier, deals with the
cause and effect hypothesis. The researchers have chosen this theory
because the study focuses primarily on the effects of titillating films
and X-rated videos on the sex orientation of senior secondary
students. The researchers found it easier to adopt and conceptualize
the variables using the Social Learning Theory because the study
concentrates on what goes beyond the mind of a titillating film and X-
rated movie viewers and the effects of watching such films being
manifested through their actions. It centers to the effects of too much
exposure to sex scenes, which tends to alter a person’s orientation
about sex.

Independent Intervening Dependent Variable

Variable Variable

Sex acts shown in Attitude and Altered sex

TF and X-rated videos Interpretaion on the orientation, either
execution of film cuts improved or distorted

Breast exposure Behavior, values, Arousal or Passivity

Frontal and extreme acquired knowledge,
nudity and sex acts desires, age, maturity
and socio- economic
status and positive
sex orientation

Interpreting these variables with the framework, the independent

variables are the sex acts on titillating films and X-rated videos which
are also considered as the source of the message and exposure of this
study. A person’s interpretation on the execution of film cuts tends to
illicit an alteration of his sex orientation. In this case, alteration of the
sex orientation is the dependent variable, for it is the effect when,
upon viewing the said films, a person acts on it depending on how the
individual perceives the idea of the sexual acts on the particular
movies.
Breast exposures, frontal and extreme nudity and sex acts are
the features of titillating films and X-rated videos that tend to alter
one’s sexual orientation, therefore the independent variable. The
dependent variable is arousal or passivity. The students may be
aroused or may remain passive by the sex acts they have viewed,
depending on their behavior, values, acquired knowledge, desires, age,
maturity, socio- economic status and positive sex orientation are
considered to be the intervening variables in which their reactions on
sex acts shown on TF and X-rated videos relied upon what kind of
upbringing an individual has.
