Management Consulting Professional Program

The Ted Rogers School of Management, in partnership with the Canadian Association of Management Consulting, developed this professional program in Management Consulting for individuals who are involved or interested in the profession or business of consulting to management regardless of the organizations size, industry complexity or sector - private, public or not-for-profit. This professional program will also appeal to currently practising consultants.

The professional program in Management Consulting delivers essential, relevant, and convenient education and training to develop and refine the necessary skills that professionals need to successfully deliver all aspects of a client consulting engagement. This course series is endorsed by the Canadian Association of Management Consultants and is designed to help prepare students for achieving the Certified Management Consultant (CMC) designation.

How will the Management Consulting Professional Program (MCP) help you? Managers
and professionals are busy people, yet the need to constantly upgrade skills is a never-ending challenge. This Professional Program is designed to deliver relevant skills in a quick, flexible, and affordable manner. The MCP program, which is delivered through both in-class lectures and workshops, will equip the management consulting professional to work with customers and clients in an advisory capacity.

How will the Ted Rogers School of Managements Management Consulting Professional Program help your organization?
By definition Management Consulting is an independent professional advisory service which assists managers and organizations in achieving organizational purposes and objectives by solving management and business problems, identifying and seizing new opportunities, enhancing learning and implementing changes. (Kubr 1976, 1996) Your company or organization may offer management consulting services to clients, may seek out the advice of a management consultant, or may have elected to form an internal team or department whose mandate it is to offer consulting services to internal clients or customers. Regardless of your business or operational model when the time comes you want someone who understands and can apply the consulting process, its tools and techniques to assist you and your customers achieve meaningful results, solve wicked problems and seize the best and most appropriate opportunities, and help you and your organization to learn and grow. The best consultants already understand you, your organization and your customers but need additional skills to extend their advisory and professional capabilities.

Who should enrol in the MCP program?


Individuals with a general consulting or advisory background who want to pursue a career in management consulting Management consultants wishing to achieve the Certified Management Consultant (CMC) designation through the Canadian Association of Management Consulting in partnership with provincial institute Accountants, project managers, human resource professionals, financial advisors, business system analysts, or anyone who incorporates consulting and advisory services into their functional activities Business managers who work within an advisory or project environment and interface with management consultants, business analysts and project managers IT and IS business analysts who whish to gain an understanding of the business and consulting side of IT/IS projects

Program Design
This program, designed to be completed in 18 to 24 months, will give current management consultants, as well as college and university graduates in related fields, the skills to meet professional and business requirements and to improve their knowledge of the profession of management consulting. The program is aligned with the CMC Body of Knowledge (www.cmc-canada.ca) and will assist students when they choose to pursue professional certification through the Canadian Association of Management Consulting - CMC-Canada. The program consists of six courses plus a capstone delivered in a compressed time-frame including online and in-class components. Successful completion of the professional program in Management Consulting can lead to the following professions: Management Consultant Internal Consultant Business Advisor Supervisor or Manager in IT, accounting, project management, human resources, business analysis and design, organizational development
