BOARD OF EDUCATION MEETING NORTHERN CASS PUBLIC SCHOOL DISTRICT NO.

97 Northern Cass School Library - Rural Hunter, ND Wednesday, September 14, 2011 5:00 p.m. Present: Jody Bohn, Joel Degerness, Bart Marvel Susie McDonald, Lance Nelson, Lori Steffes Julie Keckler Business Manager Allen Burgad Superintendent Absent: Brad Bjerke Meeting called to order by President Marvel. Also present: Crysta Wagner, elementary principal; Aaron Schramm, junior high and high school principal; Nick Vinji, Katherine, Vinji, Amanda Gades and Ashley Mickelson. Moved by Degerness second by Nelson to approve minutes from August 11, 2011 meetings as presented carried unanimously on roll call vote. Moved by Bohn second by McDonald to approve agenda as amended carried unanimously on roll call vote. Moved by McDonald second by Bohn to approve General Fund, Activity Fund and Hot Lunch financial and heating and electric reports for August as presented - carried unanimously on roll call vote. Principals and Special Education reports presented. Moved by Degerness second by Bohn to approve General Fund bills for payment as presented carried unanimously on roll call vote. OLD BUSINESS Mr. Burgad reported that he is still in the process of finding a coach for girls softball program. Mr. Burgad reported that before we would purchase any land he will contact potential developers. Mr. Burgad reported that final payment determined at arbitration will be forwarded to KBW after we receive the request for payment from them. NEW BUSINESS Moved by Nelson second by McDonald to approve head cook contract for Debbie Pacholke carried unanimously on roll call vote.

Moved by Degerness second by Bohn to approve contract addendums for lane changes for Heidi Salwei and Carla Wolsky and of 6th prep for Karen Roach carried unanimously on roll call vote. Information presented on NDSBA Annual Convention to be held on October 28 and 29th in Bismarck. Voting delegates will be: Marvel, Nelson and McDonald. Bjerke and Steffes will be attending New Member Seminar in Bismarck on October 27th. Information presented on Law Seminar to be held in Bismarck on October 27th. Moved by Bohn second by Degerness to approve non-tuition agreement with Central Cass for 2011-2012 for kindergarten and 3rd grade student to attend Central Cass carried unanimously on roll call vote. TEACHING, LEARNING, STUDENT ACHEIVEMENT Ashley Mickelson presented on the Daily Five reading program she uses in her classroom. The program gets the students more involved in reading by letting them make more choices, and by allowing them to read at their own level.
