The Spiritual Significance Of Numbers in the Scriptures: One = Unity

Introduction

Rev 1:1 The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to shew unto his servants
things which must shortly come to pass; and he sent and signified it by his angel unto his servant
John:
Rev 1:2 Who bare record of the word of God, and of the testimony of Jesus Christ, and of all
things that he saw.
Rev 1:3 Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those
things which are written therein: for the time is at hand.

1Co 2:6 Howbeit we speak wisdom among them that are perfect: yet not the wisdom of this
world, nor of the princes of this world, that come to nought:
1Co 2:7 But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God
ordained before the world unto our glory:
1Co 2:8 Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it, they would not
have crucified the Lord of glory.
1Co 2:9 But as it is written, [natural] Eye hath not seen, nor [natural] ear heard, neither have
entered into the heart of[natural] man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love
him.
1Co 2:10 But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all
things, yea, the deep things of God.

So the “deep things of God” are understood only “by His Spirit.” And what is “His Spirit?”

Joh 6:63 It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto
you, they are spirit, and they are life.

Isa 8:20 To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because
there is no light in them.

ONE = UNITY

Gen 2:24 Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife:
and they shall be one flesh.
And what does ‘one flesh mean “by His Spirit?”

Eph 5:24 Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own
husbands in every thing.
Eph 5:25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for
it;
Eph 5:26 That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,
Eph 5:27 That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or
any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.
Eph 5:28 So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth
himself.
Eph 5:29 For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the
Lord the church: Eph 5:30 For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones.
Eph 5:31 For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his
wife, and they two shall be one flesh.
Eph 5:32 This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church.
Eph 5:33 Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the
wife see that she reverence her husband.

Exo 12:49 One law shall be to him that is homeborn, and unto the stranger that sojourneth
among you.

Deu 6:4 Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD:

Zec 14:9 And the LORD shall be king over all the earth: in that day shall there be one LORD,
and his name one.
Zec 14:8 And it shall be in that day, [that] living waters shall go out from Jerusalem; half of them
toward the former sea, and half of them toward the hinder sea: in summer and in winter shall it
be.

How Important Is Unity? - One Mind

Rom 15:6 That ye may with one mind and one mouth glorify God, even the Father of our Lord
Jesus Christ.

2Co 13:11 Finally, brethren, farewell. Be perfect, be of good comfort, be of one mind, live in
peace; and the God of love and peace shall be with you.

Phi 1:27 Only let your conversation be as it becometh the gospel of Christ: that whether I come
and see you, or else be absent, I may hear of your affairs, that ye stand fast in one spirit, with
one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel;
Phi 2:2 Fulfil ye my joy, that ye be likeminded, having the same love, being of one accord, of
one mind.

1Pe 3:8 Finally, be ye all of one mind, having compassion one of another, love as brethren, be
pitiful, be courteous:

But what if there is not “one mind?” What if there is heresy?

1Jo 4:1 Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because
many false prophets are gone out into the world.
1Jo 4:2 Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come
in the flesh is of God:
1Jo 4:3 And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God:
and this is that [spirit] of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now
already is it in the world.
1Jo 4:4 Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in
you, than he that is in the world.
1Jo 4:5 They are of the world: therefore speak they of the world, and the world heareth
them.
1Jo 4:6 We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us.
Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.
1Jo 4:7 Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of
God, and knoweth God.
1Jo 4:8 He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.

2Jo 1:7 For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come
in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist.
2Jo 1:8 Look to yourselves, that we lose not those things which we have wrought, but that we
receive a full reward.
2Jo 1:9 Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God.
He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son.
2Jo 1:10 If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into
[your] house, neither bid him God speed:
2Jo 1:11 For he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds.

Tit 3:10 A man that is an heretick after the first and second admonition reject;

What is the purpose for heresy?

1Co 11:19 For there must be also heresies among you, that they which are approved may be
made manifest among you.

Zec 14:9 And the LORD shall be king over all the earth: in that day shall there be one LORD,
and his name one.
1Co 1:13 Is Christ divided? was Paul crucified for you? or were ye baptized in the name of
Paul?

Can anyone who is not “of the same mind” and not “abiding in the doctrine of Christ” be a
converted Christian?

The Spiritual Significance Of Numbers in the Scriptures: Two = Witness

Remember this is a book of signs and symbols:

1Co 2:6 Howbeit we speak wisdom among them that are perfect: yet not the wisdom of this
world, nor of the princes of this world, that come to nought:

What is said in this first verse is true throughout this and every book in the Bible. The
commission of Ezekiel is the same commission of the two witnesses. How can I make this bold
statement?

1Co 10:11 Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written
for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come.

1Pe 1:11 Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them
did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should
follow.
1Pe 1:12 Unto whom it was revealed, that not unto themselves, but unto us they did
minister the things, which are now reported unto you by them that have preached the
gospel unto you with the Holy Ghost sent down from heaven; which things the angels desire
to look into.
‘Where does it say that the ‘tree of knowledge of good and evil is the law?” If the Bible said
what it meant then how could Paul, under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, possibly make this
statement:

1Co 2:12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that
we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.

What are “the things which are freely given to us of God?”

1Co 2:13 Which things also we speak, not in the words which man’s wisdom teacheth, but
which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual [things] with spiritual.

They are things which are “not in the words which man’s [context only-every word means what
it says-natural] wisdom teacheth, BUT which the Holy Ghost teaches comparing spiritual with
spiritual” [The word ‘things is not in the original- that is why it has brackets].

1Co 2:14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are
foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

So the word ‘tree’, be it ‘tree of life [or] tree of knowledge of good and evil’ does not mean tree.
The word ’serpent’ does not meant serpent. The word ‘naked’ does not mean naked. The word
‘clothed’ does not meant clothes. The word ‘lamb’ does not mean lamb. The word ’sword’ does
not mean sword. The word ‘woman’ does not mean woman. ‘Stars, beast’s, dragon, four and
twenty elders, 144,000, lion, first love, rich and increased with goods, thou are dead, sea,
mountains,earth, lake of fire, gold, water, locusts, horses, scorpions, smoke, pit, darkness, sun,
light and on and on and on including all of the numbers five are fallen, seven stars, twelve stars,
ten days, eighth is of the seven, and yes even “two witnesses” are one and all signs and symbols
which are each and every one assigned a meaning other than their primary meaning. See the
section entitled The Spiritual Meanings Of Key Words. Every one of these signs are interpreted
in scripture.

We are not at liberty to simply guess at what a word means and then simply state repeatedly for a
fact, as Paul Crouch has done, that the “flying roll” of Zechariah 5 is symbolic of the satellites
which broadcast TBN programs around the world.

Zec 5:1 Then I turned, and lifted up mine eyes, and looked, and behold a flying roll.
Zec 5:2 And he said unto me, What seest thou? And I answered, I see a flying roll; the length
thereof [is] twenty cubits, and the breadth thereof ten cubits.

But then again considering the content of verse three and the rest of that chapter, Paul is no doubt
correct:

Zec 5:3 Then said he unto me, This [flying roll] is the curse that goeth forth over the face of
the whole earth: for every one that stealeth shall be cut off [as] on this side according to it; and
every one that sweareth shall be cut off as on that side according to it.
Zec 5:4 I will bring it forth, saith the LORD of hosts, and it shall enter into the house of the
thief, and into the house of him that sweareth falsely by my name: and it shall remain in
the midst of his house, and shall consume it with the timber thereof and the stones thereof.

Paul of Course gives this ‘flying roll’ a very positive connotation and never ever reads verse
three. Either his is so blinded by God that he has never seen verse three, or else he is just that
dishonest. God knows. Nevertheless those who “receive him into their [spiritual] house, and bid
him God speed are partakers of his evil [doctrines] deeds.

2Jo 1:9 Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ [the entire
“historical orthodox Christian church”], hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ
, he hath both the Father and the Son.
2Jo 1:10 If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house,
neither bid him God speed:
2Jo 1:11 For he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds.

Tit 3:10 A man that is an heretick after the first and second admonition reject;

Few of God’s people ever notice or understand these verses of His Word. Even fewer are willing
to implement these verses of God’s Word for fear of being labeled ‘unloving and mean spirited.”
As a result we have the very much leavened with the “leavening of the Pharisees” multi-
fractured church, which men like Dr. D. James Kennedy, John Hagee, Paul Crouch and many
others refer to so proudly as “historical orthodox Christianity.” But this same church, leavened
and corrupted with those who “abide not in the doctrine of Christ” is referred to in scripture as
“Babylon The Great The Mother Of Harlots And Of The Abomination Of The Earth.”

Getting back to the number two, and the “two witnesses.” That number, as well as all other
numbers mentioned in God’s Word, is defined and interpreted “not in the words which man’s
wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual [things] with
spiritual.” So what is the spiritual meaning of the number two? Are there really just two men
who will witness for God at some time in the future? Such a question belies the fact that the
person asking it has never noticed that this is a book of symbols and signs which we are to “do”
and “keep… for the time IS at hand” and everything in this book “must shortly [Greek-quickly]
come to pass.”

Rev 1:3 Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those
things which are written therein: for the time is at hand.

Rev 22:6 And he said unto me, These sayings are faithful and true: and the Lord God of the holy
prophets sent his angel to shew unto his [symbolic two witnesses] servants the things which must
shortly be done.
Rev 22:7 Behold, I come quickly: blessed is he that keepeth the sayings of the prophecy of this
book.

Now where did I get the nerve to bracket in the words “two witnesses” in this verse? Well it
doesn’t take nerve. All it takes is “eyes to see” the “spiritual things [which are] compared with
spiritual things” (1 Cor.2:13). “Two” in scripture is a symbol for witnessing:
Deu 17:6 At the mouth of two witnesses, or three witnesses, shall he that is worthy of death be
put to death; but at the mouth of one witness he shall not be put to death.

Deu 19:15 One witness shall not rise up against a man for any iniquity, or for any sin, in any
sin that he sinneth: at the mouth of two witnesses, or at the mouth of three witnesses, shall the
matter be established.

Mat 18:16 But if he will not hear thee, then take with thee one or two more, that in the mouth of
two or three witnesses every word may be established.

The hypocritical Pharisees certainly understood the meaning of this number:

Mat 26:60 But found none: yea, though many false witnesses came, [yet] found they none. At the
last came two false witnesses,

2Co 13:1 This [is] the third [time] I am coming to you. In the mouth of two or three witnesses
shall every word be established.

1Ti 5:19 Against an elder receive not an accusation, but before two or three witnesses. Heb
10:28 He that despised Moses’ law died without mercy under two or three witnesses:

Rev 11:3 And I will give power unto my two witnesses, and they shall prophesy a thousand two
hundred [and] threescore days, clothed in sackcloth

And how did Christ apply this principle of the number ‘two.’

Mar 6:7 And he called unto him the twelve, and began to send them forth by two and two; and
gave them power over unclean spirits;

What else did Jesus tell these twelve?

Joh 20:21 Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you: as my Father hath sent me, even
so send I you.

And He also said this:

Luk 24:48 And ye are [”two by two”] witnesses of these things. Act 5:32 And we are his [”two
by two”] witnesses of these things; and so is also the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them
that obey him.

Do you see that Sonia? Christ sent forth the twelve “two by two.” These are spiritual words
conveying spiritual Truths. Who are “the twelve?”

Luk 6:13 And when it was day, he called unto him his disciples: and of them he chose [Greek-
eklegomia] twelve, whom also he named apostles;
Here is another verse which bears witness to this principle:

Mat 22:14 For many are called [Greek-kletos], but few are chosen [eklektos].

This Greek word ‘eklektos’ is, according to Websters dictionary, a contraction of two Greek
words:

“ELECT’, v.t. [L. electus, from eligo; e or ex and lego; Gr. to choose.]”

The Greek root ‘lego’ is the root for both ‘kletos and eklektos.’ And the Greek word ‘ex or ek’
means ‘out of.‘ God’s ‘elect’ are His “two by two” witnesses so that “in the mouth of two or
three witnesses every word can be established.” These “few chosen” are chosen “out of” the
“many called.”

Mat 2:15 And was there until the death of Herod: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of
the Lord by the prophet, saying, Out of [Greek- ‘ek’] Egypt have I called my son.

Conclusion:

These are not fabrications from the fertile mind of someone trying to sell a book about end time
events and who does not know the voice of the true shepherd. These are rather the words of the
Shepherd Himself: “As my Father hath sent me, even so send I you.”

‘Two’ is the number of witness in scripture. All meat must have cloven hooves to be fit for food.
That is simply a physical symbol for this ‘two witnesses’ principle. A “cloven hoof ” is two upon
the earth, which are required for any meat (deep things of the spirit, things beyond mere milk) to
be considered as fit for spiritual food.

Mat 13:52 Then said he unto them, Therefore every scribe which is instructed unto the
kingdom of heaven is like unto a man that is an householder, which bringeth forth out of his
treasure things new [Testament ] and old [Testament].

This is why Peter also told us:

2Pe 1:20 Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private [Greek it’s own]
interpretation.

In other words, no one verse of scripture is sufficient of itself. Doctrine cannot be established
with out the witness of at least one other verse of scripture.

2Co 13:1 (b) In the mouth of two or three witnesses shall every word be established.

Yes, the ‘little book’ of Revelation 10 is the ‘little book’ of Ezekiel 2. And the “two witnesses”
are those of God’s elect who, like Ezekiel, are sent as witnesses to God’s own people (”That
great city wherein our Lord was crucified”), not to convert them but to “torment them that dwell
upon the earth { the church-Jer.22:29) with fire from their mouths (God’s Word- Jer. 5:14)

Jer 22:2 And say, Hear the word of the LORD, O king of Judah, that sittest upon the throne of
David, thou, and thy servants, and thy people that enter in by these gates: Jer 22:29 O earth,
earth, earth, hear the word of the LORD [fire].

Jer 5:14 Wherefore thus saith the LORD God of hosts, Because ye speak this word, behold, I will
make my words in thy mouth fire, and this people wood, and it shall devour them.

What are these “words of the Lord” which “devour” and “torment them that dwell upon the
earth?” They are the very words of the “little book” mentioned in the previous chapter. And did
you notice what was written in that little book?

Eze 2:10 And he spread it [the “little book of Revelation 10] before me; and it was written
within and without: and there was written therein lamentations, and mourning, and woe.

Is it becoming any clearer why the little book is “bitter in the belly?” Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel
and the “two witnesses” God’s elect in any age, will always be hated for the words which must
be spoken to God’s people in every age. God’s people have and always will be “that great city
wherein our Lord was crucified.” And God’s own people must always be witnessed against and
“hated of all men for my names sake,” But “My names sake,” contrary to what is commonly
taught, is not the mere mouthing of the 10 second sinner’s prayer. It is rather being faithful ti the
“doctrine of Christ” and being faithful to the “lamentations mournings and woe” which are all
that is in that “little book.”

I hope this helps you to see much better who are the “two witnesses.” It is not two men who will
mysteriously appear at the end of this age and spit fire at their enemies. They are rather those
who in “the time is at hand” manner in which the “revelation of Jesus Christ was meant to be
understood, have been witnessing for Christ against His harlot wife all down through the
centuries.

cures to day and to morrow, and the third day I shall be perfected.
John 2:19 Jesus answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise
it up.

Genesis 40:18 And Joseph answered and said, This is the interpretation thereof: The three

Genesis 40:19 Yet within three days shall Pharaoh lift up thy head from off thee, and shall hang
thee on a tree; and the birds shall eat thy flesh from off thee.
Exodus 10:22 And Moses stretched forth his hand toward heaven; and there was a thick darkness
in all the land of Egypt three days:
Exodus 15:22 So Moses brought Israel from the Red sea, and they went out into the wilderness
of Shur; and they went three days in the wilderness, and found no water.
Numbers 22:28 And the LORD opened the mouth of the ass, and she said unto Balaam, What
have I done unto thee, that thou hast smitten me these three times?

The number four throughout God's Word signifies the whole of what ever is under discussion.
The Whole Earth
Genesis 2:10 And a river went out of Eden to water the garden; and from thence it was parted,
and became into four heads

Waters in scripture symbolize Gods nourishing Word. It is symbolized here as the nourishment
for the WHOLE earth.

The Whole Tribulation Of God's Elect


Genesis 15:13 And he said unto Abram, Know of a surety that thy seed shall be a stranger in a
land that is not theirs, and shall serve them; and they shall afflict them four hundred years;

Four hundred years symbolizes the whole period of tribulation endured by God's elect at the
hands of the world. Egypt was a very religious society. As such it symbolized Israel being
carried away into Babylon long before Israel was carried away as slaves into Babylon. Babylon
is simply God's people in captivity in the world. Four hundred years is but the Whole as
opposed to the complete period of time when God's elect are "strangers in a land that is not
theirs." Four hundred is the symbol for the time God's elect spend in the flesh:

Job 14:1 Man that is born of a woman is of few days, and full of trouble.
Psalms 51:5 Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me.
Hebrews 11:13 These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them
afar off, and were persuaded of them, and embraced them, and confessed that they were
strangers and pilgrims on the earth ["a land that is not theirs"]

The holy anointing oil was of five parts:

Exodus 30:29 And thou shalt sanctify them, that they may be most holy: whatsoever toucheth them

The incense was of five parts:

Exodus 30:34 And the LORD said unto Moses, Take unto thee sweet spices, stacte, and onycha, and
galbanum; these sweet spices with pure frankincense: of each shall there be a like weight:
Exodus 30:35 And thou shalt make it a perfume, a confection after the art of the apothecary, tempered
together [Heb.-salt-malach-4414] , pure and holy:

Exodus 30:36 And thou shalt beat some of it very small, and put of it before the testimony in the
tabernacle of the congregation, where I will meet with thee: it shall be unto you most holy.

Exodus 30:37 And as for the perfume which thou shalt make, ye shall not make to yourselves according
to the composition thereof: it shall be unto thee holy for the LORD.

Exodus 30:38 Whosoever shall make like unto that [another Jesus], to smell thereto, shall even be cut
off from his people.

It is all of Grace:

The Spiritual Significance of the Number Six

Number 6 is probably the one number that most people have familiarity with because it pops up
in just about everything you read in the Bible. It is there time and time again, the six days of
creation, 666, all throughout. Of course, it occurs a lot more often in the Old Testament than
anywhere else. In the New Testament it is the number is most prevalent in the book of
Revelation. Due primarily to the number 666, it has taken on a very negative connotation, which
is a very real one, too. But, like everything else in the Bible, it has a positive and a negative. In
preparing this, I wanted to go over the positives, as well, not just the positives, but I wanted to
bring some of them out.

The number six, of course, besides mathematically speaking, spiritually speaking is surpassed by
the number 7. They are used in conjunction time and time again. Very rarely, do you see the
number six standing by itself. It is contrasted with the number 7. When it is contrasted, of course,
it is the weaker number and what it represents is the weaker, the older. The number 7 is the
beginning of the new. Number 8 is the new creation, but the number 7 is the ceasing from sin,
the washing away of the old and bringing in of the new, and it is completeness. So, the number 6,
as you might figure is incompleteness, it's lacking. But, at the same time, it is necessary because
you cannot get to number 7 without 6. Which sounds like an obvious statement, but it holds true
spiritually as well. That is illustrated throughout the types in the Bible.

I want to first start off with some examples of the usage of the word that illustrate what the
number 6 represents. It is probably trivia compared to most of the other instances, but it is very
interesting to note how it is used. The beginning and the end of the Bible are probably the areas
involving that number that we are the most familiar with. A lot of what I am covering here is
going to be in between there.

When the flood came, Noah was 600 years old. That is a picture, not just of Noah's age, but of
the state of the world at that time. In other words, God brought this flood on, as He does with
most things, at just the right time. Man had reached his pinnacle, in this case, it was the pinnacle
of sin. But, the number 6 is as far as man can get apart from God's spirit. There is no
completeness and there is no new creation without God's spirit, number 6 is the high water mark
for the flesh.

Abraham was 66 years old when who was born? When Ishmael was born. Ishmael was the
consummation of Abraham's efforts, not God's efforts. God had promised him and son and he
was, of course, going to receive a son of promise. But, at this time, he and Sarah thought they
had to do something to bring God's blessing about. He had, very much, a modern church
mentality. There's a church bulletin board that has been up, until recently, around our house that
said 'God supplies, but we must apply.' We should apply, yes. That word 'but' there muddies the
waters because it qualifies the first part. 'God supplies but,' that limits 'God supplies.' The 'we
apply' is part of God supplying. God supplies and applies through us. The 'but' should not even
be there. God supplies so we can apply or God supplies and we apply, but the 'but' should not be
there. Abraham, obviously, did not realize that at this point because he agreed with his wife that
he was going to take Hagar and have a son with her since Sarah, up to that point, could not
provide a son – a child, much less a son. So, he took Hagar and the result was Ishmael who was
rejected. Ishmael was not accepted. Ishmael was not the son of promise. He was a son of the
flesh. Getting back to number 6, that's what it represents, specifically, man's flesh.

It says also Leah, who was Jacob's first wife – you know, he married sisters, Leah and Rachel.
Leah, the poor girl, we can feel sorry for her. She wasn't loved, she was very much rejected and
the only reason she had a husband is because her father tricked him into marrying her. All of that
had to do with the design and efforts of the flesh. Laban was very much concerned with the flesh.
He loved money more than anything else and everything he did was designed to bring him profit,
including marrying his daughters off, both of his daughters. But Leah was a human being and she
had human needs and she wanted very much to be loved, and she said to herself (after she gave
birth to Zebulon):

Now will my husband dwell with me because I have born him 6 sons.

Rachel bore him 2 sons, both of whom were much dearer to Jacob than any of his other 6 sons.
Of course, he had other sons through Rachel's and Leah's handmaids. But, Leah, the rejected,
bore him 6 sons. Jacob, himself, when he was talking with Laban pointed out that he worked 14
years – I didn't realize this was there until today – for his 2 daughters, 7 a piece, and 6 years for
your cattle. Cattle, again, pertains to the flesh. That was above and beyond the 14 years, he
worked 6 years for cattle. That is, of course, what he got out of it and that was it. On top of that,
Laban changed his wages 10 times.

The last thing has to do with the Israelites and pertaining to Egypt. When Jacob brought his
family down into Egypt, after finding out that his son Joseph was still alive, it says that:

All the souls (that is, the descendants of Jacob, not wives or his sons wives) were 66.

It's not 666, it is 66. There's 2 sixes there, the reason being it is the number of witness. When the
Israelites left Egypt, there were 600,000 men besides children. When Pharoah pursued, there
were 600 chosen chariots. All of this was pertaining to the flesh. There was a turning point here.
The flesh was being rejected, the flesh was passing. Certainly, in reality, for these Israelites,
everything was very much physical, carnal, fleshly, but these things are for our benefit, not
theirs. That's why these numbers, mere numbers, take on such significance.

We know that, foremost, due to the book of Revelation, that 6 is the number of man. You have
various usages of 6. You have it by itself, in pairs and in threes. When you have it in pairs, you
have the witness of man, toward man, witnessing that he is a beast, that he is flesh, that he is
passing. When you have it in three instances, you know that the passing is near, that means
judgment is being passed on man, 666, that's the one that has to go. There is an illustration of
that in Chronicles and Samuel when it is talking about Solomon and this is his high water mark,
his glory at it's greatest, his zenith. We are told that the weight of gold that came to Solomon, in
one year, was 666 talents of gold. This was the end, that was as good as Solomon was going to
get and it wasn't good enough. He had, by this time, turned his back on God and was serving
other gods. When that number comes up, we are reminded of that which is rejected.

Goliath had a brother with 6 fingers on each hand and six toes on each foot. Goliath, himself,
was 6 cubits high and his spear's head was 600 shekels of iron. All of this has a very negative
connotation. It shows man's failure, it shows God's displeasure, at the same time, it has a positive
connotation or at least a more neutral connotation. Knowing that serves to more fully understand
the purpose of this number when we see it and, also, by extension, the purpose of the flesh, of
sin, of man, all these things that are passing, but they serve a valuable purpose in bringing about
what God does take pleasure in and we know it is not the flesh.
It is almost always coupled with the number 7. Of course, the number 7 has a much more
positive application every time you see it. Most of that time, it is in contrast to number 7, it still
points to the promises. The number 6 is in some ways encouraging as far as the future is
concerned. Throughout the Old Testament we are reminded that we work 6 days and we don't
work on the 7th day. Those six days, they were necessary. They had to gather their food to
survive, then they rested on the 7th. When the manna came down from heaven, they gathered it
for 6 days and then they didn't gather on the 7th. Not only because they were told not to, but
because it wasn't there. The manna was not there on the 7th day. There, again, you have a
positive connotation because they had manna from heaven for 6 days. In fact, on the 6th day they
had a double portion so that they did not go short on Saturday. If that double portion had not
been there, they would have gone hungry on Saturday. Which would not have been a calamity,
but there would have been something to complain about. They had nothing to complaint about
because God gave them a double portion on Friday and they had more than enough for Saturday.
But when they went out it says that some actually disobeyed God and went out to gather on the
7th day and there was nothing there. They provoked God. That instance is a lot deeper than it
looks on the surface. We can see that the manna was there for six days, that it wasn't there on the
7th, and almost paints a dark picture of 7 because there was no manna. But, of course, the true
nature of God's word is spiritual, not physical, and those 6 days of manna were there for the
weakness of the Israelites, not for their strength. It was because they were weak. The 7th day, the
manna wasn't there because 7 represents completeness. Christ told the Israelites, when he was in
the flesh, Moses did not give you bread from heaven. He gave them manna from heaving, but
Christ always, always, spoke of the True, not of the shadow and the type, but of the true. He said
I am the bread from heaven. He is also our Sabbath. We have no need of manna when we have
Christ. There was no manna on the 7th day, because it was not needed on the 7th day.

We have a contrast there between 6 and 7 in one sense, in the physical sense. The 6 has a very
positive connotation. It was what sustained the Israelites while they were in the wilderness. But,
in the other, it has a negative, because in the spirit 6 is what is going away, what's passing. It
does not have a permanent place. It is necessary, it is like the law. It is an escort to 7, the law is
an escort to Christ, but after it has brought you to Christ, you don't need the escort anymore. It
has served its purpose. Christ is eternal, but the escort is not. Therefore, the law of Moses is not
eternal.

Wherefore, the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it.

Now, if the 7th day is blessed, the 6th isn't. Again, we have that negative connotation, but you
can't have the 7th day without the 6th. If you buy a Hebrew servant, 6 years he shall serve and in
the 7th, he shall go out free for nothing. The Israelites, they bought slaves. They bought slaves
from foreigners and they bought slaves – if a Hebrew had to be sold into slavery because of debt
or for whatever reason – but, if they were a Hebrew, then they were set free the 7th year, they did
not have to stay a slave forever. They knew that their freedom was always eminent, because they
were God's chosen people. In a physical sense, they could take comfort in their genes. 'Hey, I'm a
Jew, I don't have to be a slave forever.' But in a spiritual sense, God's chosen people, they go
through slavery, they go through slavery to sin like everybody else. But, when they have Christ,
and they know that they are a spiritual Jew, that they are one of God's chosen people, they realize
that everything works together for their good and that those 6 days are followed by the 7th day.
That's our comfort, our comfort is in Christ, we know that He is our 7th day. We know that we
have work to do in those 6 days, but we know that it is passing.

When God's glory was on Mt. Sinai, when He was talking to Moses, we are told that a cloud
covered it for 6 days and the 7th day He called to Moses. Moses had to wait on the Lord, just like
we do. During that waiting, it was dark, the glory was covered by a cloud. The glory was there,
but it was covered. People know of God's glory, but they don't see it. Most people never see
God's glory, but they hear of it, know of it, see the effects of it, but don't know it. They can see
the blessings that are in your life. The unbelieving carnal world can see that a person who is in
Christ is happy, they are not worried about finances, about spouse, family and friends, not
worried about their future. They are at peace, they are happy, one sees the fruit of the spirit in
that person. That doesn't change a person. Seeing the fruits in somebody else does not give them
the fruits. They can see it and they can admire it, they can speak good things of it and we hear
good things about God and Christ all the time, but we don't see the world following after Christ.
They have not come in to their Sabbath yet, they are still in those 6 days. But, they are seeing
those glories, they are able to recognize them. When they are really bad off is when they are able
to see them and they curse them. That's how tightly most people hold on to the flesh.

In Leviticus, there is an instance of the number 6 that it is a little hard for a lot of people to
stomach because it talks about gender. When you allow the physical to take precedence over the
spiritual, it can be discouraging. It actually speaks to each and everyone of us, regardless of
gender. Each of us here, spiritually speaking, is a man in one sense. All of us are sons of God
whether you are a man or a woman. Paul speaks to the women, I think it is in the book of
Corinthians, about their inner man. All of us, especially together, are a woman because we are
the bride of Christ. It really has nothing to do with gender when you see male and female,
especially in the Old Testament with shadows and types, it is speaking about the spiritual
capacity that is under consideration here. In the book of Leviticus, this is talking about when a
woman gives birth. It compares when a woman has a son versus a woman having a daughter. Of
course, in that economy, you wanted sons - sons for work and to carry on the family name.
Daughters really got the short shrift, they got the short end of the stick simply because they were
born a girl. When God is illustrating these spiritual truths, sometimes it is a little hard to swallow
if you just look at the surface.

Leviticus 12:1-2 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, Speak unto the children of Israel,
saying, If a woman have conceived seed, and born a man child: then she shall be unclean seven
days; according to the days of the separation for her infirmity shall she be unclean.

Whether she bears a boy or a girl, she is unclean because blood is loosed. She has these days of
uncleanness. Then, after these days of uncleanness, she has the blood of her purifying. She has to
go through a purifying period. It was a lonely time for a woman. Here, she's just given birth and
she's all by herself, cut off from everybody because she had to bleed while she was giving birth.
If she bore a man child, she was unclean for 7 days (that's a week). When she was unclean, she
was not allowed to touch any hallowed thing. She was not allowed to come into the sanctuary.

Leviticus 12:3 And in the eighth day the flesh of his foreskin shall be circumcised.
There's the reference to the new creation. The circumcision represents the circumcision of our
hearts, the cutting away of the flesh from our hearts when we take on that spiritual nature when
all things are new again, where our very nature is change. The old me is gone and the new me is
here, the old me is being cut away.

Leviticus 12:4 And she shall then continue in the blood of her purifying three and thirty days;
she shall touch no hallowed thing, nor come into the sanctuary, until the days of her purifying be
fulfilled.

Thirty-three days, which by the way, 33 and 7 makes 40 days. There's 40 days, just like the 40
days of Noah. There's 40 days where this woman, in the process of bringing in this new man
child (which is very much a symbol of the new man – sons represent the new man, father
represents the old man) in which she is cut off from everybody else just like Noah and his family
were cut off from the world on the ark.

Leviticus 12:5 But if she bear a maid child, then she shall be unclean two weeks, as in her
separation: and she shall continue in the blood of her purifying threescore and six days.

That's twice as many days. That sounds harsh but what does this mean to us. The sons represent
the new man, the son is the image of the father and the maid represents the weaker vessel.
Obviously, spiritually, that's not always true. That's why you see more wives dragging their
husbands into church than vice versa. This is not talking about the inferiority of women to men.
It is talking about what they represent and the maid, the wife, is supposed to receive from her
husband. We, as the bride of Christ, are supposed to receive from Christ. We receive instruction,
we receive witness. I think that's why the number there is 2 sixes and 2 weeks. You have the
number of witness there that is not present when it applies to the man child. But it applies to the
maid child.

Leviticus 12:6 And when the days of her purifying are fulfilled, for a son, or for a daughter, she
shall bring a lamb of the first year for a burnt offering, and a young pigeon, or a turtledove, for a
sin offering, unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, unto the priest:

She has to bring this sacrifice, but that number six there, 66 applying to this baby girl is referring
to the carnal nature. The fact that it is 66, 2 sixes, is referring to the witness. That's an
encouraging thing, because, if God is witnessing to us, then he is dealing with us and he is not
rejecting us, he has not cut us off. That number 6 holds the promise of something new. It
represents what is passing, but it holds that promise from God of the new. Six is used in
conjunction with witnessing.

The number 12, we hear that number applied to the nation of Israel all the time, there were 12
tribes, 12 apostles. When we hear the number 12, we automatically think God's chosen people.
That number 12 just happens to be, also, 2 sixes. We have that number of witness again. In
Exodus, when Moses was instructed to carve the names of the tribes on these two stones. It says:

Put six of their names on one stone and the other six names of the rest on the other stone
according to their birth.
Then, the menorah:

Six branches shall come out of the sides of it; three branches of the candlestick out of the one
side, three branches of the candlestick out of the other side. There's a division.

Leviticus 24:6 And thou shalt set them in two rows, six on a row, upon the pure table before the
LORD.

Two rows of 6. That number 12 contains that number of witness to the flesh. It is 2 sixes.

In 1 Kings, Solomon – we just read that Solomon had 666 talents of gold each year, every year.
That's a lot of gold! In that same chapter we are told he made this huge throne. It was ivory and it
had gold on it, it was just gorgeous. Solomon thought a lot of himself, he really knew that he had
it made. It just so happens that the throne had 6 steps, there were stays on either side and there 2
lions beside the stays. There were 12 lions, six on one side and six on the other and you have that
number of witness again. Solomon doesn't even realize it, he was witnessing against his own
flesh, against himself. Here, he had reached his zenith, he thought that it didn't get any better
than this and for the flesh, that is true. When it reaches that point, that means the end is near.

When God was bringing the Israelites into the promised land, he told them it is not time yet
because the fullness of the Canaanites has not yet been accomplished. They had not gotten as
good or bad (depending on how you look at it) as they were going to get. It represents the space
that God gives us for repentance. He knows what the cut off point is, we don't. When we think
we do, we are going to be sorely disappointed. God gives us a cut off point, just like he did with
Israel, itself, before they were carried into captivity. He told them:

You will call my name and I will laugh at you, laugh at your calamity. You will call on me, you
will seek me and you won't find me.

We are supposed to seek God, but God tells them it is going to get to the point that you are going
to seek me and you won't find me. I won't be there and, in fact, I will be laughing at your
calamity. There is this cut off point and, when we reach that cut off point, all the trials we have
endured up to that point pale in comparison. We want to listen to God's word when it is given to
us and we want to take it to heart now. Now is an acceptable day of salvation. Don't put it off,
don't be like the Israelites, don't go down to the wire. We see this example all the time in daily
life with children. The parent tells them you do that again and I'm going to do this, you do that
again, I'm going to do that. We give the child space for repentance. Of course, depending on the
nature of the child, one child is no better than the other, but they have different characters and
some children fear the rod and they change their ways, at least outwardly. Others, they have that
tunnel vision, can't see the forest for the trees and they go right up to the end and they have to
have that experience of mom and dad's wrath, which is a good picture of God's wrath.

The number 6 contains promise in it. In the book of Ruth – Ruth is spoken of well throughout the
entire book. She is a picture of the later reign, of the coming in of the gentiles. She was not a
Jewess, she was not of Israel. According to the flesh, she had no business receiving blessings
from God or expecting blessings from God. But, of course, her heart was in the right place. She
is an ancestor of Christ. We are told that Boaz told her:

Bring the veil that you have upon you and hold it and, when she held it, he measured six
measures of barley and laid it on her.

He gave her six measures of barley. That's not a negative application. This was promise. She
wasn't his wife yet, he had just met the lady, but he saw something good in her, but there was no
consummation there. She still had to go through what we all have to go through leading up to
that promise. She had to go through a period of trial and humility, she was a laborer, she worked
in his field. She was essentially a beggar at this point. But, you notice he gave her six measures
of barley. Barley is a picture of the first fruit, which is what Ruth is a type of as well. She went
back and followed her mother-in-law's instructions and eventually became Boaz's wife and thus
picturing the wedding feast of the Lamb, the marriage of the bride of Christ to the Lamb.

In Joshua, the Israelites were confronted with Jericho. We all know the story, even if you have
just seen Veggie Tales, the story of them dealing with the town of Jericho. They had these weird
instructions, they had to circle the city and blow the trumpets (and break the pots [clay vessels])
and the walls fell out and they took the city. It was all of God, they did not have to strike a lick at
a snake, they just had to do what they were told. They were told to march around the city for 6
days and each day they marched around the city once. But, on the 7th day, they marched around
the city 7 times and then proceeded to blow the trumpets. That 7th day, on the 7th day we are
supposed to rest, and here they did on the 7th day more than they did on all the other days
combined. That's another thing about 7, there's more in seven than all those sixes combined. The
glory of God super-abounds our sins. He didn't say don't do anything for six days and then on the
7th day you are going to do this and this is going to happen. Those six days led up to that 7th day
and each day pictured what was going to happen on the 7th day. Each day, they marched around
that city, nothing happened. They were doing what they were supposed to do, they weren't
receiving the promise until the day of promise. God knows when he delivers on his promises,
just like he did with Abraham and Sarah. He did not get around to giving them a son, he knew
exactly when he was going to give them a son, they didn't, they had to wait. That's why we have
to learn patience.

When you get to the New Testament, there are not nearly as many instances of the number 6
until you get into the book of Revelation. There is one that is interesting. In Matthew and Mark,
it refers to when Christ took Peter, James, and John up to the mount to witness his
transfiguration. What's interesting is that Matthew and Mark both describe it as after 6 days.
Luke says about the 8th day. There's no contradiction there because the 8th day is after 6 days,
but Mark and Matthew were concerned with the 6 days. It was not on the 6th day, it was after 6
days. It focused on that number 6. Peter, James, and John were almost always there whenever
something monumental was happening as pertained to Christ. He always singled those three out.
Luke, when it says about the 8th day, is focusing on the new creation aspect of it. Matthew and
Mark are focusing on the passage of the old. Peter, James, and John were going to see Christ
coming in his glory. Every time you see that, it is immediately preceded by Christ saying there
are some here who will not pass until they see the son coming in his glory. They saw that, they
had a vision of it, before they died, they had a vision of Christ coming in his glory.
When we just concentrate on one aspect of the number 6, we end up with an incomplete picture,
not just of that number, but what it represents. We have an incomplete picture of the flesh, of
man, of sin. We have an incomplete picture. It results in the attitude that we see in the church
today, the attitude that has always been there.

In Luke, there is an instance that illustrates that attitude throughout all time. Christ, as usual, is
healing somebody and, as usual, it displeases somebody else. Just like in the parable of the
prodigal son, this wonderful thing happened to this prodigal son and that wasn't good enough for
the older son.

Luke 13:10-14 And he was teaching in one of the synagogues on the sabbath. And, behold, there
was a woman which had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years, and was bowed together, and could
in no wise lift up herself. And when Jesus saw her, he called her to him, and said unto her,
Woman, thou art loosed from thine infirmity. And he laid his hands on her: and immediately she
was made straight, and glorified God. And the ruler of the synagogue answered with indignation,
because that Jesus had healed on the sabbath day, and said unto the people, There are six days in
which men ought to work: in them therefore come and be healed, and not on the sabbath day.

What is there to be displeased with there? You would think that anybody with a heart would be
so happy for this lady. It doesn't tell us how old she was, she may have been young, old, but this
would have been a wonderful thing. Who would have a problem with that? On the surface, I
don't think anybody would, but when you see this illustrated in other contexts and in other types,
you can very easily get your cart before the horse just as this fellow did. This guy is not just
frowning at it, he is pretty ticked off, because Jesus healed on the Sabbath day. This is the
answer he got and this is the answer we get when we fail to understand what God is doing. This
guy was speaking from his own understanding, it wasn't like he was sitting there saying 'yes, this
is the Messiah here and he is doing God's will and he is going to be crucified and raised on the
third day.' He was in the dark, speaking from his own understanding.

Luke 13:15-17 The Lord then answered him, and said, Thou hypocrite, doth not each one of you
on the sabbath loose his ox or his ass from the stall, and lead him away to watering? And ought
not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan hath bound, lo, these eighteen years,
be loosed from this bond on the sabbath day? And when he had said these things, all his
adversaries were ashamed: and all the people rejoiced for all the glorious things that were done
by him.

This woman was a daughter of Abraham in more ways than this ruler of the synagogue because
Abraham was the father of the faithful and this woman had faith.

In Acts 11, this is Peter giving an account to the Jerusalem of his commission by Christ to go
witness to these gentiles.

Acts 11:4-5 But Peter rehearsed the matter from the beginning, and expounded it by order unto
them, saying, I was in the city of Joppa praying: and in a trance I saw a vision, A certain vessel
descend, as it had been a great sheet, let down from heaven by four corners; and it came even to
me:
The four corners, we are talking about the organization, government and structure of God's
kingdom, pertaining to something that a Jew, at that time, would have a hard time understanding
and accepting.

Acts 11:6-8 Upon the which when I had fastened mine eyes, I considered, and saw fourfooted
beasts of the earth, and wild beasts, and creeping things, and fowls of the air. And I heard a voice
saying unto me, Arise, Peter; slay and eat. But I said, Not so, Lord: for nothing common or
unclean hath at any time entered into my mouth.

Peter's understanding is obviously very limited here, he is still thinking about unclean foods even
though God has just told him, rise Peter, slay and eat. There was probably a lot of crow on there
because Peter was going to eat it.

Acts 11:9-10 But the voice answered me again from heaven, What God hath cleansed, that call
not thou common. And this was done three times: and all were drawn up again into heaven.

It happened 3 times because this was the end of Peter's old understanding. This was the end of
his carnal perception of God's work.

Acts 11:11 And, behold, immediately there were three men already come unto the house where I
was, sent from Caesarea unto me. And the Spirit bade me go with them, nothing doubting.
Moreover these six brethren accompanied me, and we entered into the man's house:

It says 6 brethren, Peter was there so there were 7. Seven went out to this gentile, but we are told
that six men accompanied Peter. That six had to be there for the 7, it is built on the 6. The 6 is
not the elect, it is not the chosen, it is what is passing, but it is what leads to the chosen.
Everything that has led up to the day of Pentecost was 6, it was all rejected, but it was all there
for the sake of the 7. We don't hate the Babylonians, we love the Babylonians because they are
our brothers and sisters. They are weaker brothers and sisters, but they are only so because God
made them that way. All that weakness, frailty and suffering including all the hate and enmity, it
is there. Joseph's brothers, they hated his guts. The Jews hated Jesus Christ. We are hated. You
will encounter Christians who hate you because of the liberty you have in Christ. Liberty they
don't believe in, but they resent nonetheless. All of that is leading up to the completion. It is ugly
on the surface at times. It is discouraging, it is dark, evil. There are so many things about it that
we loathe and that stirs up passions in us, but it is all necessary and it all leads to that promise
and it all leads to that completion and it all leads to that thing that we are all looking forward to.
If we are in Christ, we are looking forward to it. We are going through it at that time. If we are
going through the number 6 it is because we are the number 6. We don't realize it sometimes, we
think we are at 7, we are back at 5.

There's another verse I want to go back to, this is a little out of order, but it gives  us a good idea
of how 6 accomplishes 7. This came up, I believe, at the last Bible study. This is Elisha speaking
to the king and Syria is the foe of the day. Elisha was sick and about to die, Joash was the king of
Israel and he came down to him and he loved Elisha, he was very saddened at what was
happening. He was a decent king, but obviously he had his deficiencies and Elisha has this weird
request of him.
2 Kings 13:15-18 And Elisha said unto him, Take bow and arrows. And he took unto him bow
and arrows. And he said to the king of Israel, Put thine hand upon the bow. And he put his hand
upon it: and Elisha put his hands upon the king's hands. And he said, Open the window eastward.
And he opened it. Then Elisha said, Shoot. And he shot. And he said, The arrow of the LORD's
deliverance, and the arrow of deliverance from Syria: for thou shalt smite the Syrians in Aphek,
till thou have consumed them. And he said, Take the arrows. And he took them. And he said
unto the king of Israel, Smite upon the ground. And he smote thrice, and stayed.

Up to this point, it looks like he did everything he was told, you think Elisha would be pleased.
Quite the opposite.

2 Kings 13:19 And the man of God was wroth with him, and said, Thou shouldest have smitten
five or six times; then hadst thou smitten Syria till thou hadst consumed it: whereas now thou
shalt smite Syria but thrice.

In other words, it won't finish the job. That's the number 3 again. They are going to strike Syria,
but it won't finish the job because Israel's flesh is still being dealt with, is still receiving
judgment. But he says, if he had struck 5 or 6 times, then you had smitten Syria until you
consumed it. The 6 is the consumption of that which goes before. It is the end of it, that's the end
right there. Next is 7, this is the sufficient stage, the complete stage, the 6 is gone and here comes
8, the new creation. Here comes the new man of God. In that one little instance, we have a
picture of how 6 can be both good and bad. He should have struck the ground 6 times. He had no
way of knowing that, but it had to be as it was. I think Elisha probably knew that. He probably
knew he wasn't going to shoot the ground but 3 times, but that's the way it had to be. He was
privy to things that poor old Joash was not privy to.

That number 6 is such a negative, dark image for us because of all the darkness it entails, and yet
it is what comes out of that that we should be taking comfort in. There is comfort in all of God's
words for his people. Even in the deepest, darkest pits of despair that are discussed in God's
word, we know that it is ultimately for the good of God's people. We are told outright that all
things work together for the good of those who love Him. This number that is so common, we
hear it on TV, you turn on the televangelists and they are always reading out of the book of
Revelation, they are always talking about the number 6, trying to scare the congregation to death.
Christians are superstitious about this number. They fear a number. If it is on their license plate,
a lot of them have trouble with it. It is just a number, but what does it represent? They don't
know. They think 6 represents 6 and, if anything has that number in it, it is all evil and it is
something that they have no part in. They don't realize that they are already in it. They don't
realize that they are the 6.

One other thing I wanted to bring up, I think it is in Job. If you want to talk about suffering and
the necessity of evil, Job is always a good choice for review. In this instance, believe it or not, it
is actually a more positive use of the 6. We are told, talking about God:

He shall deliver you in six troubles, yeah in seven there shall no evil touch you.
Of course, the evil touches you in the six, but you are delivered and in the seven no evil shall
touch you. All through that six, basically Job is just summing up what we just discussed – six
troubles, they are real troubles, they are there, we are all experiencing them, we are all
undergoing them, we are all brought to the door of despair and yet we are sure that he will
deliver us and then, in seven, shall no evil touch you. That seven is obviously the superior,
obviously the better but you don't get there except through the six which we've all come to,
hopefully, have a firm grasp on. When we recognize the necessity of it and it is actually pressed
on our hearts then, hopefully, we actually come to those points of despair and we're able to do
like Paul did. He said I rejoice in my afflictions. He didn't say I rejoice because of my afflictions.
He wasn't a masochist, he didn't enjoy pain, he wasn't saying stone me again. He did not look
forward to that. Christ himself said if this cup can pass from me, Lord, but not my will but thine
be done. Nobody wants to go through those, it is not something to be enjoyed, but it is something
to be accepted and to be overcome. Paul was talking about overcoming there. When he said
rejoice in my afflictions, he was overcoming his afflictions, he was not defeated by them, he was
not a victim. He certainly did not buy into today's mentality, 'Oh, you poor thing, you're a victim.
You're an adulterer, you have a disease.' With Christ, those things fall by the way, they are not
permanent, they are very temporary. They are something that lead up to what is permanent.

Genesis 2:2 And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on

Genesis 2:3 And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested
from all his work which God created and made.

Hebrews 4:3 For we which have believed do enter into rest, as he said, As I have sworn in my
wrath, if they shall enter into my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of
the world.

the seventh day from all his works.
Hebrews 4:5 And in this [place] again, If they shall enter into my rest.
Hebrews 4:6 Seeing therefore it remaineth that some must enter therein, and they to whom it was

is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts.

Hebrews 4:9 There remaineth therefore a rest [in Christ] to the people of God.
2) The completion of the first Adam

Lamech's generation is the completion of mankind before the flood. This fact is signified by
Lamech's age, 777. Three sevens signifies that the process of judging man (3) was complete (7)
in Lamech's generation

Genesis 5:28 And Lamech lived an hundred eighty and two years, and begat a son:

Genesis 6:3 And the LORD said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is
flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years.

The seventh for Adam was used of God to prophesy of the completion of the rule of the first
Adam:

Jude 1:14 And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying, Behold, the
Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints,
3) The judgment of all of mankind

The judgment of Jericho typifies the judgment of all mankind. How was that judgment
announced?

Joshua 6:4 And seven priests shall bear before the ark seven trumpets of rams' horns: and the
seventh day ye shall compass the city seven times, and the priests shall blow with the trumpets.
Joshua 6:6 And Joshua the son of Nun called the priests, and said unto them, Take up the ark of
the covenant, and let seven priests bear seven trumpets of rams' horns before the ark of the
LORD.
Joshua 6:8 And it came to pass, when Joshua had spoken unto the people, that the seven priests
bearing the seven trumpets of rams' horns passed on before the LORD, and blew with the
trumpets: and the ark of the covenant of the LORD followed them.
Joshua 6:13 And seven priests bearing seven trumpets of rams' horns before the ark of the
LORD went on continually, and blew with the trumpets: and the armed men went before them;
but the rereward came after the ark of the LORD, the priests going on, and blowing with the
trumpets.
Seven priests with seven trumpets? Does this sound familiar?

Hebrews 11:30 By faith the walls of Jericho fell down, after they were compassed about seven
days.
Revelation8:2 And I saw the seven angels which stood before God; and to them were given
seven trumpets.
Revelation8:6 And the seven angels which had the seven trumpets prepared themselves to
sound.
Now who are these angels?
Revelation19:10 And I fell at his [the angels] feet to worship him. And he said unto me, See
[thou do it] not: I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren that have the testimony of
Jesus: worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.
Revelation22:8 And I John saw these things, and heard them. And when I had heard and seen, I
fell down to worship before the feet of the angel which shewed me these things.
Revelation22:9 Then saith he unto me, See thou do it not: for I am thy fellowservant, and of

Revelation1:6 And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him [be] glory

The above verse is written to those who 'have eyes to see (he that readeth) and ears to hear (they
that hear the words of this prophecy)' what God is saying
to them.
4) Complete Corruption Of Mankind
Matthew 12:38 Then certain of the scribes and of the Pharisees answered, saying, Master, we
would see a sign from thee.
Matthew 12:39 But he answered and said unto them, An evil and adulterous generation seeketh
after a sign; and there shall no sign be given to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas:
Matthew 12:40 For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son
of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.
Matthew 12:41  The men of Nineveh shall rise in judgment with this generation, and shall
condemn it: because they repented at the preaching of Jonas; and, behold, a greater than Jonas
[is] here.
Matthew 12:42 The queen of the south shall rise up in the judgment with this generation, and
shall condemn it: for she came from the uttermost parts of the earth to hear the wisdom of
Solomon; and, behold, a greater than Solomon [is] here.
Matthew 12:43 When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places,
seeking rest, and findeth none.
Matthew 12:44 Then he saith, I will return into my house from whence I came out; and when he
is come, he findeth [it] empty, swept, and garnished.
Matthew 12:45 Then goeth he, and taketh with himself seven other spirits more wicked than
himself, and they enter in and dwell there: and the last [state] of that man is worse than the first.
Even so shall it be also unto this wicked generation
Revelation13:1 And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea,
having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name
of blasphemy.
And what does this remind you of?
Revelation12:3 And there appeared another wonder in heaven; and behold a great red dragon,
having seven heads and ten horns, and seven crowns upon his heads.

Romans 1:20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen,
being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they
are without excuse:

And what is the message to the church through the seven angels?
1) Seven seals
Revelation 5:1 And I saw in the right hand of him that sat on the throne a book written within
and on the backside, sealed with seven seals.
Revelation 5:2 And I saw a strong angel proclaiming with a loud voice, Who is worthy to open
the book, and to loose the seals thereof?
Revelation 5:3 And no man in heaven, nor in earth, neither under the earth, was able to open the
book, neither to look thereon.
Revelation 5:4 And I wept much, because no man was found worthy to open and to read the
book, neither to look thereon.
Revelation 5:5 And one of the elders saith unto me, Weep not: behold, the Lion of the tribe of
Juda, the Root of David, hath prevailed to open the book, and to loose the seven seals thereof.
This book is completely sealed.

2) seven trumpets:
Revelation 8:1 And when he had opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven about the
space of half an hour.
Revelation 8:2 And I saw the seven angels which stood before God; and to them were given
seven trumpets.
Revelation 8:3 And another angel came and stood at the altar, having a golden censer; and there
was given unto him much incense, that he should offer [it] with the prayers of all saints upon the
golden altar which was before the throne.
Revelation 8:4 And the smoke of the incense, [which came] with the prayers of the saints,
ascended up before God out of the angel's hand.
Revelation8:5 And the angel took the censer, and filled it with fire of the altar, and cast [it] into
the earth: and there were voices, and thunderings, and lightnings, and an earthquake.
Revelation8:6 And the seven angels which had the seven trumpets prepared themselves to sound.
3) Seven Vials
Revelation 15:1 And I saw another sign in heaven, great and marvellous, seven angels having the
seven last plagues; for in them is filled up the wrath of God.
Revelation 15:6 And the seven angels came out of the temple, having the seven plagues, clothed
in pure and white linen, and having their breasts girded with golden girdles.
Who is it who opens the eyes and ears of God's elect?
Revelation 21:9 And there came unto me one of the seven angels which had the seven vials full
of the seven last plagues, and talked with me, saying, Come hither, I will shew thee the bride, the
Lamb's wife.
6) Complete Nourishment
Bread is a type of God's Word:
Matthew 15:34 And Jesus saith unto them, How many loaves have ye? And they said, Seven,
and a few little fishes.
Matthew 15:36 And he took the seven loaves and the fishes, and gave thanks, and brake them,
and gave to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitude [This is the channel of God's
Truth].
7) God's Truth Is Inexhaustable
Matthew 15:37 And they did all eat, and were filled: and they took up of the broken meat that
was left seven baskets full.
Mark 8:20 And when the seven among four thousand, how many baskets full of fragments took
ye up? And they said, Seven.

Nine is 3+6 or the maturing of the first Adam. It is 2+7 witness being completed. It is 4+5 the
whole of God's chastening grace. It is 1+8 unity with God coming through the perdition of the
eight beast, the making of the new man.

The ages of so many of the pre-flood patriarchs was nine hundred and whatever. No one lived to
be one thousand. Methuselah lived the longest and he lived to be 969 years old. And then the
world was judged.
Genesis 5:27 And all the days of Methuselah were nine hundred sixty and nine years: and he
died.
Genesis 9:29 And all the days of Noah were nine hundred and fifty years: and he died.

Abraham was 99 when he was circumcised, typifying judgment:

Genesis 17:24 And Abraham [was] ninety years old and nine, when he was circumcised in the
flesh of his foreskin.

King Hoshea was judged after nine years of rebellion:

2 Kings 17:1 In the twelfth year of Ahaz king of Judah began Hoshea the son of Elah to reign in
Samaria over Israel nine years.
2 Kings 17:2 And he did [that which was] evil in the sight of the LORD, but not as the kings of
Israel that were before him.
2 Kings 17:6 (a) In the ninth year of Hoshea the king of Assyria took Samaria, and carried Israel
away into Assyria,

It was in the ninth year of Nebuchadnezzar that he besieged Jerusalem.

2 Kings 25:1 And it came to pass in the ninth year of his reign, in the tenth month, in the tenth
day of the month, that Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came, he, and all his host, against
Jerusalem, and pitched against it; and they built forts against it round about.

It was on the ninth day of the fourth month that we are told "the famine prevailed."

2 Kings 25:3 And on the ninth day of the fourth month the famine prevailed in the city, and
there was no bread for the people of the land.

Judah and Benjamin judged themselves of their strange wives in the ninth month:

Ezra 10:9 Then all the men of Judah and Benjamin gathered themselves together unto Jerusalem
within three days. It was the ninth month, on the twentieth day of the month; and all the people
sat in the street of the house of God, trembling because of this matter, and for the great rain.
Ezra 10:10 And Ezra the priest stood up, and said unto them, Ye have transgressed, and have
taken strange wives, to increase the trespass of Israel.
Ezra 10:11 Now therefore make confession unto the LORD God of your fathers, and do his
pleasure: and separate yourselves from the people of the land, and from the strange wives.
Ezra 10:12 Then all the congregation answered and said with a loud voice, As thou hast said, so
must we do.

It was in the ninth month that judgment was pronounced upon Judah.

Jeremiah 36:30 Therefore thus saith the LORD of Jehoiakim king of Judah; He shall have none
to sit upon the throne of David: and his dead body shall be cast out in the day to the heat, and in
the night to the frost.
Jeremiah 36:31 And I will punish him and his seed and his servants for their iniquity; and I will
bring upon them, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and upon the men of Judah, all the evil
that I have pronounced against them; but they hearkened not.

It was in the ninth year of Zedekiah that Jerusalem was besieged:

Jeremiah 39:1 In the ninth year of Zedekiah king of Judah, in the tenth month, came
Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon and all his army against Jerusalem, and they besieged it.

It was on the ninth day of the fourth month that the siege was over and the city was taken:

Jeremiah 39:2 And in the eleventh year of Zedekiah, in the fourth month, the ninth day of the
month, the city was broken up.

Ezekiel prophsied the fall of Jerusalem in the ninth year :

Ezekiel 24:1 Again in the ninth year, in the tenth month, in the tenth [day] of the month, the
word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
Ezekiel 24:2 Son of man, write thee the name of the day, even of this same day: the king of
Babylon set himself against Jerusalem this same day.

Haggai pronounced Israel unclean in the ninth month.

Haggai 2:10 In the four and twentieth day of the ninth month, in the second year of Darius,
came the word of the LORD by Haggai the prophet, saying,
Haggai 2:14 Then answered Haggai, and said, So is this people, and so is this nation before me,
saith the LORD; and so is every work of their hands; and that which they offer there is
unclean.

Zechariah pronounced judgment in the ninth month:

Zechariah 7:1 And it came to pass in the fourth year of king Darius, that the word of the LORD
came unto Zechariah in the fourth day of the ninth month, even in Chisleu;
Zechariah 7:13 Therefore it is come to pass, [that] as he cried, and they would not hear; so they
cried, and I would not hear, saith the LORD of hosts:
Zechariah 7:14 But I scattered them with a whirlwind among all the nations whom they knew
not. Thus the land was desolate after them, that no man passed through nor returned: for they laid
the pleasant land desolate.
New Testament

It is the ninty and nine who refuse to judge themselves

Luke 15:3 And he spake this parable unto them, saying,


Luke 15:4 What man of you, having an hundred sheep, if he lose one of them, doth not leave the
ninety and nine in the wilderness, and go after that which is lost, until he find it?
Luke 15:5 And when he hath found [it], he layeth [it] on his shoulders, rejoicing.
Luke 15:6 And when he cometh home, he calleth together [his] friends and neighbours, saying
unto them, Rejoice with me; for I have found my sheep which was lost.
Luke 15:7 I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth,
more than over ninety and nine just persons, which need no repentance.

Nine lepers are judged ungrateful:

Luke 17:12 And as he entered into a certain village, there met him ten men that were lepers,
which stood afar off:
Luke 17:13 And they lifted up their voices, and said, Jesus, Master, have mercy on us.
Luke 17:14 And when he saw them, he said unto them, Go shew yourselves unto the priests. And
it came to pass, that, as they went, they were cleansed.
Luke 17:15 And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, and with a loud
voice glorified God,
Luke 17:16 And fell down on his face at his feet, giving him thanks: and he was a Samaritan.
Luke 17:17 And Jesus answering said, Were there not ten cleansed? but where are the nine?
Luke 17:18 There are not found that returned to give glory to God, save this stranger.
Jesus answering said, Were there not ten cleansed? but where are the nine?

Darkness covered the land at the death of Christ until the ninth hour

Matthew 27:45 Now from the sixth hour there was darkness over all the land unto the ninth
hour.

Christ died at the ninth hour:

Matthew 27:46 And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli,
lama sabachthani? that is to say, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?

Prayers were offered at the ninth hour.

Acts 3:1 Now Peter and John went up together into the temple at the hour of prayer, being the
ninth hour.

God visited Cornelius's house at the ninth hour:

Acts 10:3 He saw in a vision evidently about the ninth hour of the day an angel of God coming
in to him, and saying unto him, Cornelius
Acts 10:4 And when he looked on him, he was afraid, and said, What is it, Lord? And he said
unto him, Thy prayers and thine alms are come up for a memorial before God. .

The fruit of the spirit is in nine forms to judge the flesh:

Galatians 5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness,
faith,
Galatians 5:23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
Galatians 5:24 And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.

The gifts of the spirit are also nine to judge schisms in the body:

1 Corinthians 12:8 For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of
knowledge by the same Spirit;
1 Corinthians 12:9 To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same
Spirit;
1 Corinthians 12:10 To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another
discerning of spirits; to another [divers] kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of
tongues:
1 Corinthians 12:11 But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man
severally as he will.
1 Corinthians 12:12 For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that
one body, being many, are one body: so also [is] Christ.
1 Corinthians 12:13 For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether [we be] Jews or
Gentiles, whether [we be] bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.
1 Corinthians 12:14 For the body is not one member, but many.
1 Corinthians 12:15 If the foot shall say, Because I am not the hand, I am not of the body; is it
therefore not of the body?
1 Corinthians 12:16 And if the ear shall say, Because I am not the eye, I am not of the body; is it
therefore not of the body?
1 Corinthians 12:17 If the whole body [were] an eye, where [were] the hearing? If the whole
[were] hearing, where [were] the smelling?
1 Corinthians 12:18 But now hath God set the members every one of them in the body, as it hath
pleased him.
1 Corinthians 12:19 And if they were all one member, where [were] the body?
1 Corinthians 12:20 But now are they many members, yet but one body.
1 Corinthians 12:21 And the eye cannot say unto the hand, I have no need of thee: nor again the
head to the feet, I have no need of you.
1 Corinthians 12:22 Nay, much more those members of the body, which seem to be more feeble,
are necessary:
1 Corinthians 12:23 And those [members] of the body, which we think to be less honourable,
upon these we bestow more abundant honour; and our uncomely [parts] have more abundant
comeliness.
1 Corinthians 12:24 For our comely [parts] have no need: but God hath tempered the body
together, having given more abundant honour to that [part] which lacked:
1 Corinthians 12:25 That there should be no schism in the body; but [that] the members
should have the same care one for another.

Christ came for judgment:

John 9:1 And as [Jesus] passed by, he saw a man which was blind from [his] birth.
John 9:2 And his disciples asked him, saying, Master, who did sin, this man, or his parents, that
he was born blind?
John 9:3 Jesus answered, Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God
should be made manifest in him.
John 9:4 I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no
man can work.
John 9:5 As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.
John 9:6 When he had thus spoken, he spat on the ground, and made clay of the spittle, and he
anointed the eyes of the blind man with the clay,
John 9:7 And said unto him, Go, wash in the pool of Siloam, (which is by interpretation, Sent.)
He went his way therefore, and washed, and came seeing.
John 9:8 The neighbours therefore, and they which before had seen him that he was blind, said,
Is not this he that sat and begged?
John 9:9 Some said, This is he: others [said], He is like him: [but] he said, I am [he].
John 9:10 Therefore said they unto him, How were thine eyes opened?
John 9:11 He answered and said, A man that is called Jesus made clay, and anointed mine eyes,
and said unto me, Go to the pool of Siloam, and wash: and I went and washed, and I received
sight.
John 9:12 Then said they unto him, Where is he? He said, I know not.
John 9:13 They brought to the Pharisees him that aforetime was blind.

division among them.
John 9:17 They say unto the blind man again, What sayest thou of him, that he hath opened thine
eyes? He said, He is a prophet.
John 9:18 But the Jews did not believe concerning him, that he had been blind, and received his
sight, until they called the parents of him that had received his sight.
John 9:19 And they asked them, saying, Is this your son, who ye say was born blind? how then
doth he now see?
John 9:20 His parents answered them and said, We know that this is our son, and that he was
born blind:
John 9:21 But by what means he now seeth, we know not; or who hath opened his eyes, we
know not: he is of age; ask him: he shall speak for himself.
John 9:22 These [words] spake his parents, because they feared the Jews: for the Jews had
agreed already, that if any man did confess that he was Christ, he should be put out of the
synagogue.
John 9:23 Therefore said his parents, He is of age; ask him.
John 9:24 Then again called they the man that was blind, and said unto him, Give God the praise:
we know that this man is a sinner.
John 9:25 He answered and said, Whether he be a sinner [or no], I know not: one thing I know,
that, whereas I was blind, now I see.
John 9:26 Then said they to him again, What did he to thee? how opened he thine eyes?
John 9:27 He answered them, I have told you already, and ye did not hear: wherefore would ye
hear [it] again? will ye also be his disciples?
John 9:28 Then they reviled him, and said, Thou art his disciple; but we are Moses' disciples.
John 9:29 We know that God spake unto Moses: [as for] this [fellow], we know not from whence
he is.
John 9:30 The man answered and said unto them, Why herein is a marvellous thing, that ye
know not from whence he is, and [yet] he hath opened mine eyes.
John 9:31 Now we know that God heareth not sinners: but if any man be a worshipper of God,
and doeth his will, him he heareth.
John 9:32 Since the world began was it not heard that any man opened the eyes of one that was
born blind.
John 9:33 If this man were not of God, he could do nothing.
John 9:34 They answered and said unto him, Thou wast altogether born in sins, and dost thou
teach us? And they cast him out.
John 9:35 Jesus heard that they had cast him out; and when he had found him, he said unto him,
Dost thou believe on the Son of God?
John 9:36 He answered and said, Who is he, Lord, that I might believe on him?
John 9:37 And Jesus said unto him, Thou hast both seen him, and it is he that talketh with thee.
John 9:38 And he said, Lord, I believe. And he worshipped him.
John 9:39 And Jesus said, For judgment I am come into this world, that they which see not
might see; and that they which see might be made blind.
John 9:40 And some of the Pharisees which were with him heard these words, and said unto him,
Are we blind also?
John 9:41 Jesus said unto them, If ye were blind, ye should have no sin: but now ye say, We see;
therefore your sin remaineth.

Ten In The Old Testament

Noah was the tenth generation from Adam:

Genesis 5:1 (a) This is the book of the generations of Adam... Adam, Seth, Enos, Cainan, Mahalaleel,
Jared, Enoch, Methusalah, Lamech, Noah

Ten nations complete Abraham's victory over his enemies


Genesis 15:18 In the same day the LORD made a covenant with Abram, saying, Unto thy seed have I
given this land, from the river of Egypt unto the great river, the river Euphrates:
Genesis 15:19 The Kenites, and the Kenizzites, and the Kadmonites,
Genesis 15:20 And the Hittites, and the Perizzites, and the Rephaims,
Genesis 15:21 And the Amorites, and the Canaanites, and the Girgashites, and the Jebusites.

After ten years the patience of our flesh is exhausted

Genesis 16:3 And Sarai Abram's wife took Hagar her maid the Egyptian, after Abram had dwelt ten
years in the land of Canaan, and gave her to her husband Abram to be his wife.

Ten righteous men would have saved Sodom from judgment:

Genesis 18:32 And he said, Oh let not the Lord be angry, and I will speak yet but this once: Peradventure
ten shall be found there. And he said, I will not destroy it for ten's sake.

It took ten camels to carry "all the goods of Abraham."

Genesis 24:10 And the servant took ten camels of the camels of his master, and departed; for all the
goods of his master were in his hand: and he arose, and went to Mesopotamia, unto the city of Nahor.

Babylon will rob us completely of our wages:

Genesis 31:7 And your father hath deceived me, and changed my wages ten times; but God suffered
him not to hurt me.

The complete complement of Babylon will come to God's elect when the famine of the Word is
come:

Genesis 42:3 And Joseph's ten brethren went down to buy corn in Egypt.

Genesis 42:6 And Joseph was the governor over the land, and he it was that sold to all the people of the
land: and Joseph's brethren came, and bowed down themselves before him with their faces to the
earth.

It took ten asses to carry "the good things of Egypt:"

Genesis 45:23 And to his father he sent after this manner; ten asses laden with the good things of
Egypt, and ten she asses laden with corn and bread and meat for his father by the way.

It took ten commandments to make the "law for the lawless:"

Deuteronomy 4:13 And he declared unto you his covenant, which he commanded you to perform, even
ten commandments; and he wrote them upon two tables of stone.
1 Timothy 1:9 Knowing this, that the law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and
disobedient, for the ungodly and for sinners, for unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and
murderers of mothers, for manslayers,
1 Timothy 1:10 For whoremongers, for them that defile themselves with mankind, for menstealers, for
liars, for perjured persons, and if there be any other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine;
1 Timothy 1:11 According to the glorious gospel of the blessed God, which was committed to my trust.

It took ten plagues to destroy Egypt:

Exodus 9:14 For I will at this time send all my plagues upon thine heart, and upon thy servants, and
upon thy people; that thou mayest know that there is none like me in all the earth.
Exodus 9:15 For now I will stretch out my hand, that I may smite thee and thy people with pestilence;
and thou shalt be cut off from the earth.
Exodus 9:16 And in very deed for this cause have I raised thee up, for to shew in thee my power; and
that my name may be declared throughout all the earth.

The completed flesh separates us completely from God.

Exodus 26:1 Moreover thou shalt make the tabernacle with ten curtains of fine twined linen, and blue,
and purple, and scarlet: with cherubims of cunning work shalt thou make them.

Exodus 26:16 Ten cubits shall be the length of a board, and a cubit and a half shall be the breadth of
one board.

Hebrews 10:19 Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus,
Hebrews 10:20 By a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to
say, his flesh;

Ten completed the number of rebellions of Israel against God:

Numbers 14:22 Because all those men which have seen my glory, and my miracles, which I did in Egypt
and in the wilderness, and have tempted me now these ten times, and have not hearkened to my
voice;
Numbers 14:23 Surely they shall not see the land which I sware unto their fathers, neither shall any of
them that provoked me see it:
Numbers 14:24 But my servant Caleb, because he had another spirit with him, and hath followed me
fully, him will I bring into the land whereinto he went; and his seed shall possess it.

Ten days of patience do no good for the foolishness of the flesh- Nabal:

1 Samuel 25:38 And it came to pass about ten days after [he learned of David's intentions to destroy
him], that the LORD smote Nabal, that he died.
Ten In The New Testament

The flesh is completely bankrupt, totally incapable of ever paying for it's sins:

Matthew 18:23 Therefore is the kingdom of heaven likened unto a certain king, which would take
account of his servants.
Matthew 18:24 And when he had begun to reckon, one was brought unto him, which owed him ten
thousand talents.

Ten minus two leaves us with a very carnal perception:

Matthew 20:20 Then came to him the mother of Zebedee's children with her sons, worshipping [him],
and desiring a certain thing of him.
Matthew 20:21 And he said unto her, What wilt thou? She saith unto him, Grant that these my two sons
may sit, the one on thy right hand, and the other on the left, in thy kingdom.
Matthew 20:22 But Jesus answered and said, Ye know not what ye ask. Are ye able to drink of the cup
that I shall drink of, and to be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with? They say unto him, We
are able.
Matthew 20:23 And he saith unto them, Ye shall drink indeed of my cup, and be baptized with the
baptism that I am baptized with: but to sit on my right hand, and on my left, is not mine to give, but [it
shall be given to them] for whom it is prepared of my Father.
Matthew 20:24 And when the ten heard it, they were moved with indignation against the two
brethren.

So long as we are in the flesh "we shall suffer persecution and tribulation"

Revelation 2:10 Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer: behold, the devil shall cast some of
you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days [Our entire lives in the
flesh]: be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life.

We are not persecuted just 10 days before we die.

Acts 14:22 Confirming the souls of the disciples, and exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that
we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of God.

Matthew 25:1 Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps,
and went forth to meet the bridegroom.
Matthew 25:2 And five of them were wise, and five were foolish.

Both 5's will be saved by the only formula for salvation "Grace through faith."
Matthew 25:3 They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them:
Matthew 25:4 But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.
Matthew 25:5 While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept.
Matthew 25:6 And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to
meet him.
Matthew 25:7 Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps.
Matthew 25:8 And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out.
Matthew 25:9 But the wise answered, saying, Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go
ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves.
Matthew 25:10 And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in
with him to the marriage: and the door was shut.
Matthew 25:11 Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us.
Matthew 25:12 But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not.

And where do we 'buy' the spirit of God?

Revelation 3:18 I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white
raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint
thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see.

Ten thousand has no chance against twenty thousand:

Luke 14:31 Or what king, going to make war against another king, sitteth not down first, and consulteth
whether he be able with ten thousand to meet him that cometh against him with twenty thousand?
Luke 14:32 Or else, while the other is yet a great way off, he sendeth an ambassage, and desireth
conditions of peace.
Luke 14:33 So likewise, whosoever he be of you that forsaketh not all that he hath, he cannot be my
disciple.

It takes two fives to redeem all mankind:

Luke 15:8 Either what woman having ten pieces of silver, if she lose one piece, doth not light a candle,
and sweep the house, and seek diligently till she find it?

All of Adam's descendants are leprous:

Luke 17:12 And as he entered into a certain village, there met him ten men that were lepers, which
stood afar off:

All of Adam's descendants will be cleansed, but not all are grateful for this truth:

Luke 17:17 And Jesus answering said, Were there not ten cleansed? but where are the nine?
Ten 'pounds' or 'talents' are all that is to be accomplished while in this flesh, "till I come..."

Luke 19:11 And as they heard these things, he added and spake a parable, because he was nigh to
Jerusalem, and because they thought that the kingdom of God should immediately appear.
Luke 19:12 He said therefore, A certain nobleman went into a far country to receive for himself a
kingdom, and to return.
Luke 19:13 And he called his ten servants, and delivered them ten pounds, and said unto them, Occupy
till I come.
Luke 19:14 But his citizens hated him, and sent a message after him, saying, We will not have this [man]
to reign over us.
Luke 19:15 And it came to pass, that when he was returned, having received the kingdom, then he
commanded these servants to be called unto him, to whom he had given the money, that he might
know how much every man had gained by trading.
Luke 19:16 Then came the first, saying, Lord, thy pound hath gained ten pounds.
Luke 19:17 And he said unto him, Well, thou good servant: because thou hast been faithful in a very
little, have thou authority over ten cities.
Luke 19:18 And the second came, saying, Lord, thy pound hath gained five pounds.
Luke 19:19 And he said likewise to him, Be thou also over five cities.
Luke 19:20 And another came, saying, Lord, behold, [here is] thy pound, which I have kept laid up in a
napkin:
Luke 19:21 For I feared thee, because thou art an austere man: thou takest up that thou layedst not
down, and reapest that thou didst not sow.
Luke 19:22 And he saith unto him, Out of thine own mouth will I judge thee, [thou] wicked servant. Thou
knewest that I was an austere man, taking up that I laid not down, and reaping that I did not sow:
Luke 19:23 Wherefore then gavest not thou my money into the bank, that at my coming I might have
required mine own with usury?
Luke 19:24 And he said unto them that stood by, Take from him the pound, and give [it] to him that hath
ten pounds.
Luke 19:25 (And they said unto him, Lord, he hath ten pounds.)
Luke 19:26 For I say unto you, That unto every one which hath shall be given; and from him that hath
not, even that he hath shall be taken away from him. Luke 19:27 But those mine enemies, which
would not that I should reign over them, bring hither, and slay them before me.

Isaiah 3:1 For, behold, the Lord, the LORD of hosts, doth take away from Jerusalem and from Judah the
stay and the staff, the whole stay of bread, and the whole stay of water,

'Ten thousand' can signify what is unnecessary and is contrasted with what is good and what is
needed:

1 Corinthians 4:15 For though ye have ten thousand instructors in Christ, yet have ye not many fathers:
for in Christ Jesus I have begotten you through the gospel.
1 Corinthians 14:19 Yet in the church I had rather speak five words with my understanding, that by my
voice I might teach others also, than ten thousand words in an unknown tongue.
Ten thousand is the number of God's saints redeemed from the flesh

Jude 1:14 And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying, Behold, the Lord
cometh with ten thousands of his saints,

The salvation of all flesh is expressed in tens of thousands:

Revelation 5:11 And I beheld, and I heard the voice of many angels round about the throne and the
beasts and the elders: and the number of them was ten thousand times ten thousand, and thousands of
thousands;

TEN IS COMPLETION OF THE FLESH

The Spiritual Significance Of The Number Eleven

We have established that each number in scripture has its significance in relation to the numbers
before and after each number. So then one (1) tells us that all is of God, through God and back to
God. Two (2) bears witness to one and three (3) reveals the three steps to spiritual maturity to
which four (4), the whole of mankind must come. Five (5) is the chastening grace through faith
which the whole (four) of mankind (six) must endure. So then just as six is the number of
rebellious mankind and is the disintegration of five, which is the number of grace through faith
so too is seven the number which destroys six by revealing six as not being complete.

But a complete Adam must see himself as a seven-headed beast who is nothing more than the
offspring of a seven-headed dragon and in dire need of going into perdition as the eighth beast
which is of the seven. This eighth (8th) beast is the new man and he finds his life only by losing
it (going into perdition) through judgment (nine). Judgment (9) must begin at the house of God.
Of course ten reveals that the house of God "has kept all of these ten commandment from its
youth up and is blameless according to the righteousness which is in the law. So then it is only
after we see our need for dying to what we thought was life, the (blameless life of keeping the
10, perfection of the flesh, commandments. And that brings us to the number before us today. It
is the number eleven.

Eleven is one more then ten and is therefore the ruin and disintegration of ten. As eleven reveals
the ruin and disintegration of ten, it also heralds the need for the strong and lasting spiritual
foundation that is twelve. But eleven is one short of twelve and is that which is not quite able and
in fact works against bringing mankind to that spiritual foundation.which twelve signifies. So
then eleven with one is a good foundation. But twelve without one, eleven, is simply the ruin
and disintegration of the perfection of the flesh.

OLD TESTAMENT
Genesis 32:22 And he rose up that night, and took his two wives, and his two womenservants,
and his eleven sons, and passed over the ford Jabbok.
This is while Jacob is leaving Babylon. It is all very instructive for us. This is while Joseph is
very young and just before Benjamin, who typifies God's elect, has been born. Jacob is right
here acutely aware of all of his past sins. Even though he has been promised lordship over Esau
he still feels hopelessly at Esau's mercy and several time calls him "my lord Esau." Jacob knew
he had to return to His Father, but he also knew he had to face Esau. It was a time of great
confusion and turmoil. It was also a time of great purging.

Genesis 27:37 And Isaac answered and said unto Esau, Behold, I have made him (Jacob) thy
lord, and all his brethren have I given to him for servants [the seed of the serpent-John 8:44];
and with corn and wine have I sustained him: and what shall I do now unto thee, my son?
Genesis 32:4 And he commanded them, saying, Thus shall ye speak unto my lord Esau; Thy
servant Jacob saith thus, I have sojourned with Laban, and stayed there until now:
Genesis 32:18 Then thou shalt say, They be thy servant Jacob's; it is a present sent unto my lord
Esau: and, behold, also he is behind us.
Genesis 33:15 And Esau said, Let me now leave with thee some of the folk that are with me.
And he [Jacob] said, What needeth it? let me find grace in the sight of my lord.
John 8:44 Ye are of [your] father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a
murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When
he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.

Eleven signifies that time when we have just met Christ and we are just now becoming aware of
our total blindness. The time of our judgment still lies ahead of us.

Genesis 37:9 And he dreamed yet another dream, and told it his brethren, and said, Behold, I
have dreamed a dream more; and, behold, the sun and the moon and the eleven stars made
obeisance to me.

This is Joseph being given the promise of rulership over the flesh, the same promise his father
Jacob had been given.

Genesis 27:37 And Isaac answered and said unto Esau, Behold, I have made him [Jacob] thy
lord, and all his [eleven] brethren have I given to him for servants; and with corn and wine have I
sustained him: and what shall I do now unto thee, my son?

Both go from the promise of rulership into judgment and servitude to the flesh. This is just
before Joseph is sold into Egyptian slavery by his 10 brothers. All eleven will bow before him,
but it is the ten who so persecute and want to kill him.

Jeremiah 2:18 And now what hast thou to do in the way of Egypt, to drink the waters of Sihor?
or what hast thou to do in the way of Assyria, to drink the waters of the river?
Jeremiah 2:19 Thine own wickedness shall correct thee, and thy backslidings shall reprove thee:
know therefore and see that [it is] an evil [thing] and bitter, that thou hast forsaken the LORD thy
God, and that my fear [is] not in thee, saith the Lord GOD of hosts.

There is a temporary tabernacle which precedes a more permanent temple. But do not think that
even the temple is not to be vigilantly purged and purified.
Exodus 26:7 And thou shalt make curtains of goats' hair to be a covering upon the tabernacle:
eleven curtains shalt thou make.

Eleven curtains covered the temporary tabernacle. This tabernacle first received the tables of the
first covenant "for the lawless" (1 Timothy 1:9). It endured the trials of the wilderness and the
lawless days of the judges. It was covered with eleven curtains.
Deuteronomy 1:2 There are eleven days' journey from Horeb by the way of mount Seir unto
Kadeshbarnea.)

Twelve days would have taken Israel right into the promised land. Eleven is one day short of
twelve, and therefore Israel at this point is not well founded. Korah and his 250 famous men of
renown have yet to raise their ugly heads. Here is what happens at the end of "eleven days
journey:"

Numbers 14:36 And the men, which Moses sent to search the land, who returned, and made all
the congregation to murmur against him, by bringing up a slander upon the land,
Numbers 14:37 Even those men that did bring up the evil report upon the land, died by the
plague before the LORD.
Numbers 14:38 But Joshua the son of Nun, and Caleb the son of Jephunneh, [which were] of the
men that went to search the land, lived [still].
Numbers 14:39 And Moses told these sayings unto all the children of Israel: and the people
mourned greatly.
Numbers 14:40 And they rose up early in the morning, and gat them up into the top of the
mountain, saying, Lo, we [be here], and will go up unto the place which the LORD hath
promised: for we have sinned.
Numbers 14:41 And Moses said, Wherefore now do ye transgress the commandment of the
LORD? but it shall not prosper.
Numbers 14:42 Go not up, for the LORD [is] not among you; that ye be not smitten before your
enemies.
Numbers 14:43 For the Amalekites and the Canaanites [are] there before you, and ye shall fall by
the sword: because ye are turned away from the LORD, therefore the LORD will not be with
you.
Numbers 14:44 But they presumed to go up unto the hill top: nevertheless the ark of the
covenant of the LORD, and Moses, departed not out of the camp.
Numbers 14:45 Then the Amalekites came down, and the Canaanites which dwelt in that hill,
and smote them, and discomfited them, [even] unto Hormah.

Silver is often a symbol for redemption, but when it appears in multiples of eleven it is not for
the redemption but for the enslaving of God's people

Judges 16:5 And the lords of the Philistines came up unto her, and said unto her, Entice him, and
see wherein his great strength [lieth], and by what [means] we may prevail against him, that we
may bind him to afflict him: and we will give thee every one of us eleven hundred [pieces] of
silver.
Judges 17:2 And he said unto his mother, The eleven hundred shekels of silver that were taken
from thee, about which thou cursedst, and spakest of also in mine ears, behold, the silver is with
me; I took it. And his mother said, Blessed [be thou] of the LORD, my son.
Judges 17:3 And when he had restored the eleven hundred shekels of silver to his mother, his
mother said, I had wholly dedicated the silver unto the LORD from my hand for my son, to
make a graven image and a molten image: now therefore I will restore it unto thee.

The last two kings of Israel "did that which was evil in the sight of the Lord." They both reigned
eleven years:

2 Kings 23:36 Jehoiakim was twenty and five years old when he began to reign; and he reigned
eleven years in Jerusalem. And his mother's name [was] Zebudah, the daughter of Pedaiah of
Rumah.
2 Chronicles 36:5 Jehoiakim [was] twenty and five years old when he began to reign, and he
reigned eleven years in Jerusalem: and he did [that which was] evil in the sight of the LORD his
God.
2 Kings 24:18 Zedekiah [was] twenty and one years old when he began to reign, and he reigned
eleven years in Jerusalem. And his mother's name [was] Hamutal, the daughter of Jeremiah of
Libnah.
2 Chronicles 36:11 Zedekiah [was] one and twenty years old when he began to reign, and
reigned eleven years in Jerusalem.
2 Chronicles 36:12 And he did [that which was] evil in the sight of the LORD his God, [and]
humbled not himself before Jeremiah the prophet [speaking] from the mouth of the LORD.
2 Chronicles 36:13 (a) And he also rebelled against king Nebuchadnezzar...

So long as there is a need for a temple, man's incomplete state will be reflected in that temple:

Ezekial 40:49 The length of the porch was twenty cubits, and the breadth eleven cubits; and he
brought me by the steps whereby they went up to it: and there were pillars by the posts, one on
this side, and another on that side.

But there will not always be any need for a temple with a porch whose width is eleven cubits"

Revelation 21:22 And I saw no temple therein: for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are
the temple of it.

"No temple.. for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple." Just another one of
those statements which to the natural man are a wonder.

NEW TESTAMENT

When there were but eleven apostles the apostles were not well founded and were unbelieving,
confused and afraid:

Luke 24:9 And [the women who had communed with the angels at the sepulcher] returned from
the sepulcher, and told all these things unto the eleven, and to all the rest.
Luke 24:10 It was Mary Magdalene, and Joanna, and Mary [the mother] of James, and other
[women that were] with them, which told these things unto the apostles.
Luke 24:11 And their words seemed to them as idle tales, and they believed them not.
Luke 24:30 And it came to pass, as he sat at meat with them [the two men on the road to
Emmaus], he took bread, and blessed [it], and brake, and gave to them.
Luke 24:31 And their eyes were opened, and they knew him; and he vanished out of their sight.
Luke 24:32 And they said one to another, Did not our heart burn within us, while he talked with
us by the way, and while he opened to us the scriptures?
Luke 24:33 And they rose up the same hour, and returned to Jerusalem, and found the eleven
gathered together, and them that were with them,
Luke 24:34 Saying, The Lord is risen indeed, and hath appeared to Simon.
Luke 24:35 And they told what things [were done] in the way, and how he was known of them in
breaking of bread.
Luke 24:36 And as they thus spake, Jesus himself stood in the midst of them, and saith unto
them, Peace [be] unto you.
Luke 24:37 But they were terrified and affrighted, and supposed that they had seen a spirit.
Matthew 28:16 Then the eleven disciples went away into Galilee, into a mountain where Jesus
had appointed them.
Mark 16:14 Afterward he appeared unto the eleven as they sat at meat, and upbraided them
with their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they believed not them which had seen him
after he was risen.

This is the condition associated with this number. The last two kings of Israel rebelled against
their own oath, and Christ's apostles were upbraided for their unbelief and hardness of heart. But
this all changed when Mathias was added to their number just before the day of Pentecost.

Acts 1:26 And they gave forth their lots; and the lot fell upon Matthias; and he was numbered
with the eleven apostles.

This is another one of the shadows of the New Testament. It foreshadows the solid foundation on
which God's elect are built when the one is added to the eleven. When that is done this is the
difference in our lives:

Acts 2:14 But Peter, standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice, and said unto them, Ye men
of Judaea, and all ye that dwell at Jerusalem, be this known unto you, and hearken to my
words:

Eleven plus one is a solid foundation for those who are God's spiritual temple. Twelve minus one
is a rebellious, very confusing, unbelieving state.

This is the spiritual, hidden significance of this number in the word of God which is all a parable
meaning not so much what it says as what it means.

The Spiritual Significance Of The Number Twelve

The Number Of Christ


1 Corinthians 3:11 For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.

Ephesians 1:11 In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to
the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will:

Twelve is the number in scripture which is one more than eleven; eleven being the number of the
disintegration of fleshly perfection, twelve reverses that process of disintegration. Twelve is
therefore the number which demonstrates spiritual foundation, spiritual perfection and
completion. This is true whether it is concerned with the seed of the serpent as symbolized by
Ishmael and his "twelve princes," or whether it is dealing with the seed of the woman, as
symbolized by Isaac who later, after the natural was manifested first, had Jacob who also had
'twelve princes.'

But it is essential that we realize that the unveiling of Jesus Christ includes "the marred vessel,"
first.

The first scripture which demonstrates the significance of this number twelve has to do with the
foundation, not of God's elect, but of God's rejected "seed of Abraham:"

Genesis 17:20 And as for Ishmael, I have heard thee: Behold, I have blessed him, and will make
him fruitful, and will multiply him exceedingly; twelve princes shall he beget, and I will make
him a great nation.

So why is Ishmael brought to our attention before Jacob with His twelve sons? Here is why:

1 Corinthians 15:46 Howbeit that was not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural; and
afterward that which is spiritual.

The unveiling of Jesus Christ entails the first Adam first. That "first" Adam, with...

1 John 2:16 ...all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride
of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.

...is what Christ means when He says "I am the Alpha... the beginning... that which is first."

This first Adam, our flesh in us, is loathe to relinquish it's supremacy, and when we discover that
the flesh has to be forfeited we cry out with Abraham:

Genesis 17:18 And Abraham said unto God, O that Ishmael might live before thee!

But this simply cannot be tolerated:

Genesis 21:9 And Sarah saw the son of Hagar the Egyptian, which she had born unto Abraham,
mocking.
Genesis 21:10 Wherefore she said unto Abraham, Cast out this bondwoman and her son: for
the son of this bondwoman shall not be heir with my son, even with Isaac.
Genesis 21:11 And the thing was very grievous in Abraham's sight because of his son.
Genesis 21:12 And God said unto Abraham, Let it not be grievous in thy sight because of the lad,
and because of thy bondwoman; in all that Sarah hath said unto thee, hearken unto her voice; for
in Isaac shall thy seed be called.

Who said "cast out the bondwoman and her son? It was Sarah. But what are we told in Galatians
four? Ishmael is the seed of the serpent in type:

Galatians 4:28 Now we, brethren, as Isaac was, are the children of promise.
Galatians 4:29 But as then he that was born after the flesh persecuted him that was born
after the Spirit, even so it is now.
Galatians 4:30 Nevertheless what saith the scripture? Cast out the bondwoman and her son: for
the son of the bondwoman shall not be heir with the son of the freewoman.
Galatians 4:31 So then, brethren, we are not children of the bondwoman, but of the free.

We have been led to believe that since we are "in Christ," and are therefore the spiritual "seed of
Abraham," that therefore we are God's elect and cannot be rejected. But what does Christ tell us
about such carnal minded thinking?

Genesis 21:13 And also of the son of the bondwoman will I make a nation, because he is thy
seed.

Both the son of the bondwoman and the son of the freewoman are "thy seed... the seed of
Abraham."

John 8:31 Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word,
[then] are ye my disciples indeed;

John 8:37 I know that ye are Abraham's seed; but ye seek to kill me, because my word hath
no place in you.
John 8:38 I speak that which I have seen with my Father: and ye do that which ye have seen with
your father.
John 8:39 They answered and said unto him, Abraham is our father. Jesus saith unto them, If
ye were Abraham's children, ye would do the works of Abraham.

John 8:41 Ye do the deeds of your father. Then said they to him, We be not born of fornication;
we have one Father, even God.
John 8:42 Jesus said unto them, If God were your Father, ye would love me: for I proceeded
forth and came from God; neither came I of myself, but he sent me.
John 8:43 Why do ye not understand my speech? [even] because ye cannot hear my word.
John 8:44 Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a
murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him.
When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.

It was "those Jews which believed on Him" who were "of your father the devil." Can this
possibly have an application to God's elect?
Romans 11:19 Thou wilt say then, The branches were broken off, that I might be grafted in.
Romans 11:20 Well; because of unbelief they were broken off, and thou standest by faith. Be
not highminded, but fear:
Romans 11:21 For if God spared not the natural branches, take heed lest he also spare not
thee.
Romans 11:22 Behold therefore the goodness and severity of God: on them which fell, severity;
but toward thee, goodness, if thou continue in his goodness: otherwise thou also shalt be cut
off.

So after the natural is made manifest, then the spiritual foundation of God's people is manifested.
But look at what is still right there within the sons of the freewoman:

Genesis 35:22 And it came to pass, when Israel dwelt in that land, that Reuben went and lay with
Bilhah his father's concubine: and Israel heard it. Now the sons of Jacob were twelve:

Genesis 37:2 These are the generations of Jacob. Joseph, [being] seventeen years old, was
feeding the flock with his brethren; and the lad was with the sons of Bilhah, and with the sons
of Zilpah, his father's wives: and Joseph brought unto his father their evil report.

What God's people "come out of " is God's people. This Is, Was and Will Be true. The "twelve
thousand from each of the twelve tribes of Israel" are redeemed out of every kindred and tongue
and people and nation."

Revelation 5:9 And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open
the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every
kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation;
Revelation 5:10; And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on
the earth.

There must be twelve thousand from each of the twelve tribes to begin the government of God
on this earth. Anything less is "one is not:"

Genesis 42:13 And they said, Thy servants are twelve brethren, the sons of one man in the land
of Canaan; and, behold, the youngest [is] this day with our father, and one is not.

God's elect must be "separated from their brothers."

Deuteronomy 33:13 And of Joseph he said, Blessed of the LORD be his land, for the precious
things of heaven, for the dew, and for the deep that coucheth beneath,
Deuteronomy 33:14 And for the precious fruits [brought forth] by the sun, and for the precious
things put forth by the moon,
Deuteronomy 33:15 And for the chief things of the ancient mountains, and for the precious
things of the lasting hills,
Deuteronomy 33:16 And for the precious things of the earth and fulness thereof, and [for] the
good will of him that dwelt in the bush: let the blessing come upon the head of Joseph, and
upon the top of the head of him that was separated from his brethren.
What does twelve mean?

Genesis 49:28 All these are the twelve tribes of Israel: and this is it that their father spake unto
them, and blessed them; every one according to his blessing he blessed them.

This is all type and shadow of God's elect. God's elect are the spiritual "twelve tribes of Israel."

Galatians 6:15 For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision,
but a new creature.
Galatians 6:16 And as many as walk according to this rule, peace be on them, and mercy, and
upon the Israel of God.

And here is the God's Word version of these verses:

Galatians 6:15 Certainly, it doesn't matter whether a person is circumcised or not. Rather, what
matters is being a new creation.
Galatians 6:16 Peace and mercy will come to rest on all those who conform to this principle.
They are the Israel of God.

Even in the wilderness twelve is the number of spiritual foundation.

Exodus 15:27 And they came to Elim, where were twelve wells of water, and threescore and ten
palm trees: and they encamped there by the waters.

This happens before Israel even comes to Mount Sinai. We develop our spiritual foundation very
early on. Then we build on that foundation with wood, hay and stubble before we learn to build
with gold, silver and precious stones.

1 Corinthians 3:1 And I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal,
even as unto babes in Christ.
1 Corinthians 3:2 I have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for hitherto ye were not able to
bear it, neither yet now are ye able.
1 Corinthians 3:3 For ye are yet carnal: for whereas there is among you envying, and strife, and
divisions, are ye not carnal, and walk as men?
1 Corinthians 3:4 For while one saith, I am of Paul; and another, I am of Apollos; are ye not
carnal?
1 Corinthians 3:5 Who then is Paul, and who is Apollos, but ministers by whom ye believed,
even as the Lord gave to every man?
1 Corinthians 3:6 I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase.
1 Corinthians 3:7 So then neither is he that planteth any thing, neither he that watereth; but God
that giveth the increase.
1 Corinthians 3:8 Now he that planteth and he that watereth are one: and every man shall receive
his own reward according to his own labour.
1 Corinthians 3:9 For we are labourers together with God: ye are God's husbandry, [ye are] God's
building.
1 Corinthians 3:10 According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise
masterbuilder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take
heed how he buildeth thereupon.

1 Corinthians 3:12 Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones,
wood, hay, stubble;
1 Corinthians 3:13 Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day [of judgment] shall
declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort
it is.
1 Corinthians 3:14 If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a
reward.
1 Corinthians 3:15 If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be
saved; yet so as by fire.
1 Corinthians 3:16 Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God
dwelleth in you?
1 Corinthians 3:17 If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of
God is holy, which temple ye are.
1 Corinthians 3:18 Let no man deceive himself. If any man among you seemeth to be wise in this
world, let him become a fool, that he may be wise.
1 Corinthians 3:19 For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He
taketh the wise in their own craftiness.
1 Corinthians 3:20 And again, The Lord knoweth the thoughts of the wise, that they are vain.
1 Corinthians 3:21 Therefore let no man glory in men. For all things are yours;
1 Corinthians 3:22 Whether Paul, or Apollos, or Cephas, or the world, or life, or death, or things
present, or things to come; all are yours;
1 Corinthians 3:23 And ye are Christ's; and Christ is God's.

The 'shew bread' symbolizes God's word, which is Christ. It consisted of twelve cakes made with
finely ground flour.

Leviticus 24:5 And thou shalt take fine flour, and bake twelve cakes thereof: two tenth deals
shall be in one cake.

Each part of the body must do its part in dedicating the tabernacle.

Numbers 1:44 These are those that were numbered, which Moses and Aaron numbered, and the
princes of Israel, being twelve men: each one was for the house of his fathers.

The cross is itself foundational to our walk:

Numbers 7:84 This was the dedication of the altar, in the day when it was anointed, by the
princes of Israel: twelve chargers of silver, twelve silver bowls, twelve spoons of gold ;

The altar is where we lay our lives down to Christ. 'The altar' is the cross.
Mark 10:21 Then Jesus beholding him loved him [The rich young ruler who had kept the law
flawlessly "from my youth up."], and said unto him, One thing thou lackest: go thy way, sell
whatsoever thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come,
take up the cross, and follow me.

The Spiritual Significance Of The Number Thirteen

Thirteen Signifies Rebellion

First mentioned in the Old Testament:

Genesis 14:4 Twelve years they served Chedorlaomer, and in the thirteenth year they rebelled.

Sandi and I were just in one of the airports which did not have a gate thirteen. I pointed it out to
her. Thirteen is popularly superstitious and considered to be a number for bad luck. We talk
about "Friday the thirteenth" as an 'unlucky day.' But what is really being told us is that thirteen
is 'unlucky' because it signifies rebellion against God. Any one who know God and Christ know
that there is no such thing as 'luck.'
Romans 11:36 For of him, and through him, and to him, are all things: to whom be glory for
ever. Amen.

Ephesians 1:11 In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to
the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will:

The word 'all ' takes the concept of luck completely out of the equation.

Now look at the second mention of this number:

Genesis 17:24 And Abraham was ninety years old and nine, when he was circumcised in the
flesh of his foreskin.
Genesis 17:25 And Ishmael his son was thirteen years old, when he was circumcised in the
flesh of his foreskin.
Genesis 17:26 In the selfsame day was Abraham circumcised, and Ishmael his son.

Ishmael is God's very first "rejected... broken off... cut off... of your father the devil" seed of
Abraham:

John 8:30 As he spake these words, many believed on him.


John 8:31 Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word,
[then] are ye my disciples indeed;
John 8:32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
John 8:33 They answered him, We be Abraham's seed, and were never in bondage to any man:
how sayest thou, Ye shall be made free?
John 8:34 Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the
servant of sin.
John 8:35 And the servant abideth not in the house for ever: but the Son abideth ever.
John 8:36 If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.
John 8:37 I know that ye are Abraham's seed; but ye seek to kill me, because my word hath
no place in you.

These are the words which typify God's "Son of the bondwoman" children of Abraham
(Galatians 4:30-31)

John 8:38 I speak that which I have seen with my Father: and ye do that which ye have seen with
your father.
John 8:39 They answered and said unto him, Abraham is our father. Jesus saith unto them, If ye
were Abraham's children, ye would do the works of Abraham.
John 8:40 But now ye seek to kill me, a man that hath told you the truth, which I have heard of
God: this did not Abraham.
John 8:41 Ye do the deeds of your father. Then said they to him, We be not born of fornication;
we have one Father, [even] God.
John 8:42 Jesus said unto them, If God were your Father, ye would love me: for I proceeded
forth and came from God; neither came I of myself, but he sent me.
John 8:43 Why do ye not understand my speech? even because ye cannot hear my word.
John 8:44 Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a
murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When
he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.

How can Christ say "I know you are Abraham's seed... [and] if you were Abrahm's children..." in
the same breath to the same people? That is always the case when Christ's words go from dealing
with the things of the flesh to dealing with the things of the spirit. They appear in many cases to
be contradictory and they cannot be followed by those whose eyes have been darkened. Here is
the scripture:
Revelation 17:8 The beast that thou sawest was, and is not; and shall ascend out of the
bottomless pit, and go into perdition: and they that dwell on the earth shall wonder, whose
names were not written in the book of life from the foundation of the world, when they behold
the beast that was, and is not, and yet is.

"Is not and yet is...?" How much more blatant a contradiction can be made in teh eyes of those
who cannot see the hidden things of the spirit behind every word that proceeds out of the mouth
of God? And this principle extends to the "seven last plagues " to which God's elect are not
appointed even though they, like Christ Himself must yet endure God's seven plagues of His
wrath first. Why else would these plagues be called "the seven last plagues?"

Isaiah 54:7 For a small moment have I forsaken thee; but with great mercies will I gather thee.
Isaiah 54:8 In a little wrath I hid my face from thee for a moment; but with everlasting kindness
will I have mercy on thee, saith the LORD thy Redeemer.

Matthew 27:46 And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama
sabachthani? that is to say, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?
Are God's elect ever the subject of His wrath as was Christ?
Ephesians 2:3 Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our
flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of
wrath, even as others.

Why must this be? It must be so because "now is judgment on the house of God:"
1 John 4:17 Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of
judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world.

Did Christ suffer God's wrath? If He did then we too must do so because "judgment must begin
at the house of God:"

1 Peter 4:17 For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if [it]
first [begin] at us, what shall the end [be] of them that obey not the gospel of God?

God's judgment always includes His wrath:

Hebrews 12:6 For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he
receiveth.

There are no exceptions.

Getting back to the number thirteen, it is associated with the strength of the flesh:
Numbers 29:13 And ye shall offer a burnt offering, a sacrifice made by fire, of a sweet savour
unto the LORD; thirteen young bullocks, two rams, [and] fourteen lambs of the first year; they
shall be without blemish:
Numbers 29:14 And their meat offering [shall be of] flour mingled with oil, three tenth deals
unto every bullock of the thirteen bullocks, two tenth deals to each ram of the two rams,

It is our strength which is in rebellion against God. Everything the flesh attempts to accomplish
on its own ends up as rebellion against God:

Proverbs 14:4 Where no oxen are, the crib is clean: but much increase is by the strength of the
ox.

There are those who think that God reveals his Truth only to His more mature sons. Nothing
could be farther from the Truth:

Psalm 8:2 Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings hast thou ordained strength because of thine
enemies, that thou mightest still the enemy and the avenger.
Matthew 11:25 At that time Jesus answered and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and
earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto
babes.

When ever we fail to be as teachable as a young child we are treading on dangerous ground:

Matthew 21:16 And said unto him, Hearest thou what these say? And Jesus saith unto them, Yea;
have ye never read, Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings thou hast perfected praise?
It was a babe in Christ who pointed out to me a few days ago that Christ was born in a manger
where beasts eat.

Esther 3:1 After these things did king Ahasuerus promote Haman the son of Hammedatha the
Agagite, and advanced him, and set his seat above all the princes that were with him.
Esther 3:12 Then were the king's scribes called on the thirteenth day of the first month, and there
was written according to all that Haman had commanded unto the king's lieutenants, and to the
governors that [were] over every province, and to the rulers of every people of every province
according to the writing thereof, and [to] every people after their language; in the name of king
Ahasuerus was it written, and sealed with the king's ring.
Esther 9:1 Now in the twelfth month, that is, the month Adar, on the thirteenth day of the same,
when the king's commandment and his decree drew near to be put in execution, in the day that
the enemies of the Jews hoped to have power over them, (though it was turned to the contrary,
that the Jews had rule over them that hated them;)

Romans 2:28 For he is not a Jew, which is one outwardly; neither [is that] circumcision, which is
outward in the flesh:
Romans 2:29 But he [is] a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision [is that] of the heart, in
the spirit, [and] not in the letter; whose praise [is] not of men, but of God.
