The Association of Black Social Workers of Texas, Inc. is pleased to announce that it will be hosting the 25th
Annual Southwest Regional Conference in Houston, Texas, November 10-11, 2011 at the Holiday Inn by
Reliant Park.

We invite you to join us for what we believe to be a historic opportunity for educational and networking ventures.
This years theme, Unity and Strength in the African-American Community: Implications for Social Work
Practice, focuses on the work that we do as social workers and the transformation that occurs in the lives of
many that we service. We are seeking your input, suggestions, recommendations, expert knowledge and
innovation to craft culturally competent solutions that will strengthen families.

Enclosed is a conference packet containing information about the conference. Additionally, we are calling for
proposals and soliciting vendors for exhibition opportunities. We have gone to great lengths to ensure your
comfort with the hotel accommodations and affordability of the conference as a whole.

CALL FOR PROPOSALS


The Association of Black Social Workers-Houston Chapter invites you to submit a workshop proposal for an
educational presentation at the 25th Annual Southwest Regional Conference. Vitally important to the social
work field and our professional growth, is the information and knowledge-base of workers in related fields
(clinicians, policy makers, administrators, managers, social work students, researchers, legislators or
academicians). Therefore, all proposals are welcomed.
Proposals will be evaluated on their relevance to the conference theme and social work profession, area of focus,
clarity, originality and the credentials of the presenter(s). Special attention will be given to those proposals that
emphasize skill enhancement, focus on solutions and that represent replicable program models. Priority will be
given to NABSW members and human services professionals. All workshops are scheduled for 90 minutes
(excluding Ethics). Consideration will be given if the presenter(s) need more time.

Guidelines for Submission: Proposals must be typed and submitted using the specified format that
includes: (1) Workshop Proposal Submission Form; (2) Proposal Abstract Form; and (3) Additional
Presenters page (if needed). Submit one copy of your proposal to:
