Research Methodology

Method
Survey and interview are used for this research to investigate the perception of
ADP students in legalizing homosexuality. By surveys, information of a large sample of
people can be obtained quickly and efficiently. Interview is an efficient way to get a large
in depth and qualitative information.

Sample
60 students will be chosen randomly to do the survey and 15 students will be
interviewed. They must be the students of American Degree Program, either male or
female, aged 17 to 21 years old and literate (able to read English). The reason we survey
60 participants is to get information of a large sample to decrease the errors and bias. We
decided to interview 15 students are to get detail information that allows greater
understanding.

Instruments description
The questionnaire included 13 close ended questions. There are four sections in
the survey. The first section is based on the understanding of participants on
homosexuality which are question 1 to 3. The second section is based on the opinions of
participants on homosexuality which is question 4, 5, 9, 10, and 13. In the second section,
their opinion on homosexual life style, health issues, sexual orientation and their feeling
towards homosexual are being asked. The third section is based on the opinion of
participants in legalizing homosexuality which are question 6, 7, 8, and 12. This section
meant to investigate their opinion in legalizing homosexuality and effects if
homosexuality is being legalized. The fourth section is based on the religion of
participants which is question 11.
The interview included 7 open ended questions. There are three sections in this
interview. The first section discusses about the opinion of participants on homosexuality
which are question 2, 3, 6, and 7. In this section, questions about how the participants feel
towards homosexual, why they are homosexual, who affected their thoughts towards
homosexual and their opinion about the relationship of AIDS and homosexual are being
asked. The second section asks about the opinion of participants in legalizing
homosexuality which is question 1 and 5. This section is designed to investigate ADP
students’ opinion in legalizing homosexuality in Malaysia and the effects if
homosexuality is being legalized in our country. The third section is about the perception
of heir religion on homosexuality which is mention in question 4. The participants are
asked to explain their religion’s opinion about homosexuality in this section.
