A CEREMONIAL RESOLUTION _____ IN THE COUNCIL OF THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA

To recognize the accomplishment of Christopher Armani-Oliver Tate of the District of Columbia who represented the District and his country and was victorious in the World Martial Arts Games XII in Cardiff, United Kingdom, as well as the others who contributed to his success, especially his father, Christopher Tate, a single parent who fundraised on behalf of his son and arranged for his training and participation. WHEREAS Christopher Armani-Oliver Tate was selected for participation by the World Organization of Martial Arts Athletes in their international event which drew hundreds of participants from over a dozen countries and emerged victorious, earning three medals, including two gold medals, against intense, world-class competition; WHEREAS Christopher Armani-Oliver Tate was the outright victor in the sparring and weapons competitions earning a gold medal in each contest and placing second in the forms competition; WHEREAS in addition to his world class abilities in martial arts, Christopher ArmaniOliver Tate has excelled as a scholar-athlete, maintaining a position as an honor roll student every year since kindergarten through his current 8th grade class at Paul Charter High School; WHEREAS the success of Christopher Armani-Oliver Tate was the product of tireless practice and exercise, including training at the Inner Circle Martial Arts Academy of Washington DC under the instruction of Master Kevin Brady and six years of karate study, earning the level of Black Belt in July, 2011; WHEREAS the participation of Christopher Armani-Oliver Tate in the World Martial Arts Games XII came a considerable financial expense, which was covered through the donations of friends and family, who were mobilized by the tireless efforts of Christopher Tate, a dedicated single parent; WHEREAS, the success of Christopher Armani-Oliver Tate at the World Martial Arts Games XII is likely one in a series of ever greater accomplishments for this talented youth and may be surpassed as he aspires to achieve the title of World Champion and compete on Team America next summer; RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA, that this resolution may be cited as Christopher Armani-Oliver Tate Recognition Resolution of 2011. Sec. 2. The Council of the District of Columbia recognizes the remarkable accomplishments of Christopher Armani-Oliver Tate and those who have helped achieve his

success and declares Friday, October 21, as Christopher Armani-Oliver Tate Day in Washington D.C. Sec. 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon the first date of publication in the District of Columbia Register.
