End note program for editing references in research writing We can start with a series for using endnote

program 1st after setup of the program on your device you open the program from allprograms then when open the program it will ask you if you 1: create a new endnote library so you save the file with enl extension in your device 2: see what's new 3: open an existing library

When you open library saved in your device you can begin with tools menu

Tools Connect choose a connection file

So choose the file, the most common one is PubMed (NLM) because it doesnt need password So it will open new window which will be used in searching

In this window: in the first field you can write the author name like fayez, a. and in the second tab choose author (smith, ab)

In the second field write the year of publication like 2010 and choose in the second file choose year then click search This small window will appear of the result

Click OK another window of the citation will appear

You can double click on the citation to confirm that it is the desired result so go to the tab in right position (copy all references to) click on this tab

So you choose the saved file you created before so it will be in a new window

Then the first reference was added to the library, continue for the others

Now you want to edit the reference format or style according to your publication or thesis Go to edit menu output styles open style manager to choose the appropriate style

Choose the file you want and click on the tab edit it will open this window

Go to bibliography and select template so you can make the format like to be bold or make the journal italic etc...

When you make your editing and close this window it will ask you to save the changes click yes if you want

Then we can search for other references and add them by the same manner But!!!

If we didnt find the reference using the program So we can add new reference From the references menu click on new reference

This window will be opened

So copy the reference you want and add it to these fields each in its space: the authors, year, title, etc....

After adding the reference close the window to be added in the library Note: the authors should be added as the style you chose so it takes the same format From the references menu you can: edit reference, delete reference and if you have duplicate you can find them and delete one This explanation is for the beginners that I know there are a lot of professionals I tried to offer these small notes and leave you on the way to be expert If you have any questions send me Muhammad
