In our days and more than ever, we could watch on TV or read in some newspaper many advertisements that request

human volunteers to take part in medical research. Currently, the physicians are not satisfied only with animal testing, they prefer to use human volunteers to be more accurate in their clinical trials. First of all, and according to Wikipedia free encyclopedia, medical research is the evaluation of new treatments for both safety and efficacy in what are termed clinical trials, and all other research that contributes to the development of new treatments. In fact, I agree with using human volunteers for medical research. I think if we want to find out more about human beings, we need to study them. If we want to test efficiently new medical procedures and techniques, we need to use people rather than animals in our experiments. However, I share the opinion of James Harlick, who said in KEYS, page: 138: any product that could possibly hurt a human being or cause discomfort should be tested on animals first. In my opinion, I would prefer threaten myself to save the others lives. We should not see only what will happen today, we need to be more futuristic and optimist. We need to think about our sons and sacrifice our lives in order to make their life more comfortable and more secure. And I think that was always the case since the beginning of life on earth but this time we will do it by a different way! Further more and according to www.faqs.org which is an important web site for medical research archive, the physicians said: experiments on people have contributed in great measure to medical progress, human life span has increased significantly and infant mortality has decreased by more than 75% and many human diseases that were once fatal or widespread have become curable or have disappeared. The physicians explain this by the fact that most human diseases do not have animal models. Further more, the functioning of an animal is not identical to that of humans. Therefore, the final tests need to be done on human subjects, for certain tests like drug tests, human testing is required by federal regulations, so far is today an obligation before sending any new drugs to pharmacies. In conclusion, discussions of the ethics of human experimentation have focussed on the uniqueness of human experimentation, the relationship of the individual to society, health as a public good that we should together preserve it. So, we need to do our best in order to give the humanity a chance to live better, healthy and feel secure.
