Good Neighbour Community Contract

This is to confirm that Mission Services has purchased the former Mohawk School at 196 Wentworth
Use: Learning Centre (as per the City Building Permit Application No: 11-116041-00, attached), for the purposes of teaching the following:_______________________________________________ , to: ____________________________________________________________________________ In this regard, the local community has expressed serious concerns that their quality of life and property values will be directly impacted because of the services that Mission Services provides. To address these concerns, Mission Services has publicly stated that their goal is: to be a Good Neighbour in Ward 3, which clearly implies that they will respect all concerns of the residents. As per the stated goals above, we Mission Services, Hamilton agrees to assist the Ward 3 Neighbourhood Community Board to be comprised of property owners and residents in monitoring the spirit and letter of this community contract with the following undertakings: 1. We undertake to be Good Neighbours, and confirm that we will not directly (or indirectly via any employees, affiliates, associates, divisions, departments, subsidiaries, sub-agencies, tenants, sub-tenants or via any in-house or third-party programs) offer, provide or operate the following uses at 196 Wentworth Street North: 1. Addictions treatment services: Methadone clinic; needle exchange program; alcohol and drug counseling. 2. Food bank, community dining room, cafeteria or soup kitchen. 3. Adult or children crisis shelter or homeless shelter. 4. Short or long term residential facilities. 5. Abuse center or mental health counseling. 6. Medical clinic or emergency services. 7. Used supplies outlet, supplies storage, warehouse or distribution centre. 8. Parking or service yard for trucks, vans or fleet of vehicles. 2. We undertake to institute an internal policy to strictly regulate the negative spillover effect of any of our activities in and around the building which includes: not permitting our staff, clients and visitors from using the public sidewalk, driveway, and the parking lots for loitering, smoking or food and supplies distribution, or causing any disturbance to the community before, during or after the service hours of our facility. 3. We undertake to work collaboratively with the Ward 3 Neighbourhood Community Board to ensure full compliance of this contract, and expressly confirm that we will not alter, add, change, modify or expand the use of the building from what we have stated in the building permit application; and confirm that we shall not be advertising this location with large banners or signs on the property, or bringing in clients from outside the City of Hamilton to our above property to service them. 4. We undertake to submit a quarterly community report to all residents and businesses across Ward 3, on the impact of our presence on local quality of life; property values; and neighbourhood perception.
