Complementary MaBNVCO10 Algebra and Geometry

This test has a complementary character and designed in the spirit of assesment for
learning, students have allready got back their test, and are individually informed about the
area and level they may have problems with and therefore require improvement.

Instructions

Test period 90 minutes for Part I and Part II as a whole. Problems are individualized
according to your need, your performance in the original test, and your
immediate goal.
- If your grade is IG in the first test, first try to do G-level problems.
- If your grade is G in the first test, first try to do VG-level problems, and
then MVG level problems. In case you could not solve problems in G-
level in a particular area, for example quadratic equation, you should also
try to solve the related problems even in G-level.
- If your grade is VG in the first test, first try to do MVG-level problems,
and then VG level problems. In case you could not solve problems in G-
level in a particular area, for example quadratic equation, you should also
try to solve the related problems even in G-level.
- Each student will get personalized recommended problems to solve.

Resources Graphic calculator (only part II), formula sheet, your personalised formula
booklet, ruler, protractor, and a lexicon.

The test For all items a single answer is not enough. It is also expected
that you write down what you do
that you explain/motivate your reasoning
that you draw any necessary illustrations.
Score and The grades will be decided based on the combination of the results from the
original test and the level improvement you have demonstrated in this test.

mark levels
The maximum number of points you can receive for each solution is
indicated after each problem. If a problem can give 2 Pass-points and 1
Pass with distinction-point this is written [2/1]. Some problems are
marked with , which means that they more than other problems offer
opportunities to show knowledge that can be related to the criteria for Pass
with Special Distinction in Assessment Criteria 2000.
Problem 8 and 13 are of greatest importance for a higher grade.

Part II
This part consists of 5 problems and you may use a calculator when solving them. The
problem 13 is heavily graded and is of greatest importance. Choose only problems that are
assigned to you

VG-Level Quadratic Equations:

9. A badminton center has a vaulted
roof. In the figure below one of the
gables of the center placed in a
system of coordinates is illustrated.
The vaulted roof then forms a curve
in the system of coordinates. This
curve may be described by:

028 . 0 67 . 0 x x y = .
Calculate the width of the gable a.

VG-level problem in quadratic equations and trigonometry:

10. Calculate the length of
the sides AC and AB
in the figure. Note that
the figure is not scaled
properly and therefore,
measurement from the
figure is not valid.
Answer with the
accuracy of one
