Instructions:
This is your first coursework for Scalable Campus Networking and will be an individual practical lab-test. You are assigned a pod of two switches; you should configure the equipment based on the following specifications. You should save your running configurations to two text files (with YOUR_NAME_Switch.txt format) on the desktop and submit it with the coursework documents to the invigilator This coursework accounts for 30% towards your module mark Total Marks=100 You have 2 hours to complete this task All configuration should be implemented using IOS CLI

Topology Diagram
VLAN 1 : 194.196.1.0 /24 VLAN 31 (Accounts): 197.162.31.0 /24 VLAN 32 (Research): 197.162.32.0 /24 VLAN 33 (HR): 197.162.33.0 /24 VLAN 34 (Legal): 197.162.34.0 /24

Scenario
You have been tasked with setting up the following network for your company to allow users in the same department located in different buildings to be logically grouped together to ease administration and optimize the network. Your IS Manager has decided on creating VLANs and has purchased Cisco Catalyst 3550/60 and 2950/60 switches to accomplish this. Configure the network according to the following instructions.

Scalable Campus Networking

Part 1: Access Layer Switch

1. Set the name of this switch to ALS. 2. Cable the network. 3. Create VLANs 31, 32, 33, 34 and name them Accounts, Research, HR and Legal respectively 4. Configure privileged exec mode and telnet passwords on the switch. Use the password class and ensure that the no passwords can be viewed in clear text from the running-configuration file. 5. Configure the switch to be managed remotely using the address 194.196.1.5 6. Configure the switch as a VTP server in the domain FredNET. The domain must be authenticated using the password FredPASS 7. Ports fa0/1 and fa0/2 must be set to form a trunk link using the IEEE 802.1q protocol 8. Configure ports fa0/1, fa0/2 to form an etherchannel bundle. 9. Configure port fa0/24 as an additional 802.1q trunk link with the 3550 switch. 10. Configure interfaces fa0/3-6 to be in the Accounts VLAN. 11. Configure interfaces fa0/7-12 to be in the HR VLAN 12. Configure interfaces fa0/13-18 to be in the Research VLAN. 13. Configure interfaces fa0/19-20 to be in the Legal VLAN. 14. Create a default gateway pointing to the distribution layer switch in VLAN 1

Part 2: Catalyst 3550/3560 Switch

1. Set the name of this switch to DLS 2. Configure the switch to be managed remotely using the address 194.196.1.2 3. Configure the switch to be able to receive VTP information from the 2950 switch but not to add, remove or modify any VLANs 4. Configure privileged exec mode and telnet passwords on the switch. Use the password class 5. Ports fa0/1 and fa0/2 must be set to form a trunk link using the IEEE 802.1q protocol 6. Configure ports fa0/1, fa0/2 to form an etherchannel. 7. Configure port fa0/24 to be an additional 802.1 trunk link to the 2950 switch. 8. Restrict telnet access to permit only incoming connections from the IP address 197.162.33.9 9. Configure interVLAN routing between all VLANs mentioned on the previous page. You may choose appropriate addresses for VLANs 31, 32, 33 and 34. 10. Enable RIP version 2 as the routing protocol and ensure that VLANs 31, 32, 33 and 34 are included in the RIP process. Do not use a summarised statement to achieve this. 11. Do not include VLAN 1 in the RIP process

Scalable Campus Networking 12. Configure a workstation with the IP address 197.162.33.9 in VLAN 33 attached to switch ALS (you should be able to telnet to both switches). 13. Configure a workstation in the Legal VLAN with the IP address 197.162.34.5, attached to switch ALS. 14. Verify that the workstations configured in steps 16 and 17 can ping each other.

Good luck
