SCENARIO: As a neophyte strategist in EXT-SOURCE ltd., a rising consultancy outsourcing company in the country tasked you to introduce the process of analyzing a business, the manager in-charge has instructed you to review and assist an ongoing study on the top 1000 corporations locally and abroad. Diligence in information acquisition and use of tools is highly necessary because the result of the study will serve as guide in defining their priority target companies to serve. So, upon hearing this, you decided to apply some learning methods you acquired in order to help achieve its mission and objectives.

TASKS: 1. Define the contexts of business strategy. (1.1) The importance of a written vision/mission statement for a company. If a student is able to provide an overview of findings using the following queries as guide. ( M1) 1.1. When did your organization first develop its vision and/or mission statement? 1.2. How long have your current statements existed? When they were last modified? Why were they modified at that time? 1.3. By What process are your firms vision and mission statements altered? 1.4. How are your vision and mission statements used in the firm? In addition to the above, if a student is able to select four organizations and find their mission Statements and complete the following exhibit by identifying stakeholders that are mentioned and was able to evaluate the differences between firms in the private sector and those in the public sector. (M3) 3. An environmental and organizational audit of your selected organization (use EFE and IFE matrices). (1.3) Create a CPM and interpret the results. Select a company or business where you currently studied or previously familiar with. Conduct an external audit for this company. Prepare an EFE and IFE Matrices using the identified opportunities and threats. Construct a CPM and provide interpretation and analysis of the results. ( D1) 2/3

Comments of the assessor. GRADING: Pass Merit All criteria identified in the assignments are met. Must firstly achieve all conditions for a Pass. - An effective approach to study and research has been explored. (M1) - Complex information/data have been synthesized and processed. (M2) - Appropriate structure and approach has been used. (M3) NOTE: Complete the title page and sign the statement of authenticity. Compile all documentation to be submitted in a portfolio as evidence to support other assignments. Use the Harvard referencing system. For all assignments, late work will automatically be REFERRED and will only obtain a highest grade of PASS should it meet all the assessment criteria indicated in the assignment brief after a 1 week revision period. Should a student receive a 2nd referral in any assignment the grade for that assignment shall be a FAIL. A student with a failed assignment must repeat that assignment on the next occasion the unit is taught. A student who incurs at least 2 failed assignments per unit shall repeat the entire unit when it is next offered.
