Lena (L): Olé, olé, olé, olé...
Monica (M): Hey Lena, in fünf Minuten ist Anpfiff. Endlich geht's los. Du bist ja nicht zu
stoppen. Dabei spielt deine Lieblingsmannschaft doch heute gar nicht.
L: Das ist mir heute egal. 'Der Ball ist rund und das Spiel dauert neunzig Minuten'.
M: Und philosophisch wirst du auch noch...
Deutscher Fan (DF): Warum philosophisch? Das ist von Sepp Herberger, dem berühmten
deutschen Fußballtrainer.
L: Siehst du, Monica, ich bin eben doch ein richtiger Fan. Hat Herberger nicht auch
gesagt: 'Das nächste Spiel ist immer das schwerste.'?
DF: Genau. Aber mein Lieblingsspruch ist 'Das Runde muss ins Eckige' - das sagt doch
alles über Fußball!
M: Hey, es geht los! Jetzt konzentriert euch aber lieber mal auf das Spiel.
L: Mensch, die Roten! Was für ein toller Angriff. Da hat der Torwart keine Chance!

DF: Klar, der Torwart ist super. Der steht wie 'ne Wand. Aber was macht der 16er da? Das
ist Handspiel!
L: War wohl nichts. Der Schiedsrichter pfeift keinen Strafstoß.
M: Das war knapp! Die Verteidigung ist wirklich gut. Aber jetzt gibt's 'ne Ecke.
L: Oh nein, und die Nummer 7 wird gefoult. Das muss aber eine gelbe Karte geben!
M: Ne, der Schiedsrichter gibt nur Freistoß!
DF: Ach, das war doch nicht mal ein Foul - der hat sich absichtlich fallen lassen.
M: Was? Für wen bist du eigentlich?
DF: Für die Besseren - für wen denn sonst!
L: Monica, Monica, gleich gibt es ein Tor!
M: Wow! Was für eine Vorlage. Das war ein Pass wie aus dem Bilderbuch.
L: Und dann Kopfball und -TOR!TOR!TOR!
DF: 2:0 - das glaube ich nicht! So ein Glück kann man doch gar nicht haben!
M: Komm, was ist los mit dir? Ich dachte, du bist für die Besseren!
DF: Ja, genau deswegen!
M: Ach, sei nicht traurig. Beide Mannschaften haben super gespielt - und fair.
L: Du weißt doch: 'Nach dem Spiel ist vor dem Spiel'. Das nächste Mal gewinnt deine
Mannschaft wieder.
M: Und heute unser Favorit -
L&M: Olé, olé, olé, olé, wir sind die Champions, olé...

can you? And your favourite team isn't even playing today.
L: That doesn't matter to me today. 'The ball is round, and the game lasts ninety minutes.'
M: And now you are getting philosophical, too...
German fan (Gf): What do you mean philosophical? The quote is from Sepp Herberger,
the famous German soccer coach.
L: See, Monica. I am actually a real fan. Didn't Herberger also say: 'The next match is
always the hardest'?
Gf: That's right. But my favourite quote is 'The round thing goes in the square thing' -
that's all you need to know about soccer!
M: Hey, that's all very nice, but the match's starting. I think you two should concentrate
on the game.
L: Oh man, the guys in red are playing great offence. Do you think the goalie has a
chance? Ohhh...
Gf: Of course, the goalie's great. He's like a wall in front of the net. But what's number 16
doing? That's a hand ball!
L: Doesn't look like it - the referee didn't call a penalty.
M: That was close. The defence is really good. But now there's a corner kick.
L: Oh no, and number 7 was fouled. He's got to get a yellow card for that!
M: No, the referee only gave them a free kick!
Gf: Aaah, that was no foul - he fell on purpose.
M: What?! Whose side are you on anyway?
Gf: The better team's side - what else?
L: Monica, Monica, they're about to score!
M: Wow! Oh, what a pass! That was perfect!
L: And a header, and - goal! Goal! Goal!
Gf: 2:0 - I can't believe it! Nobody's that lucky!
M: Hey, what's wrong? I thought you were rooting for the better team!
Gf: Yeah, that's the problem!
M: Oh, don't be sad. Both teams played great today - and fair.
L: You know the saying, 'After the game is before the game'. Your team will win next
time.
M: But today - it's our team!
