Introduction
Paper recycling has become more popular in offices around the world as environmentally friendly business practices are rewarded. There are many ways to participate in the recycling of paper goods. It is as simple as adding a separate trash receptacle marked for paper goods. Companies which produce mass paper waste can even sell the recycled paper to companies which re-purpose the materials for added profit. Practicing green office habits can also allow for tax benefits and help develop a healthy public image. Many companies practice recycling for its many benefits. Companies which produce more recyclable materials than others stand to gain even further as often businesses will pay to collect and incorporated the waste into other products. Finding an agency to recover recycled waste can be a great benefit to your business as they will often provide receptacles and provide all transportation for its removal while adding profit to the business. For companies with less waste there is still the option to have a less frequent pick up schedule so that more waste may accumulate. If your company is considering the implementation of paper recycling try clicking the links to the left. Paper is a biodegradable material; this means that when it goes to landfill it will rot; bacteria will form and produce methane. This is a powerful greenhouse gas that is 23 times more potent than CO2 (carbon dioxide) and contributes to climate change. We currently recycle 66% of the paper we use. Manufacturing virgin (brand new) paper uses more energy than making recycled paper, but varies dependent on the grade or type of paper being made. Lower quality paper, such as newsprint and packaging paper, require less energy to manufacture than office paper.
Reduce the consumption of energy Reduce the consumption of rainforest Reduce the amount of paper waste going to landfill
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: Business Idea And Unique Selling Point Our Business plan is a process to convert used paper to the new, reuseable paper. The process is known as Paper Recycling. Our business will help the paper industry to fulfil the rapidly increasing demand of paper products. Due to the inability for paper industry to meet the demand of paper, country needs to import paper from abroad. Due to this demand-supply gap, prices of paper products are increasing day by day. Our business plan will not only decrease the import bill of the country but also will decrease the price of paper products which will increase the purchasing power of the individuals and hence it will increase their welfare. Implementation Plan In the initial stages, we will start with the establishment of small/medium scale firm with support of Government in order to sustain in case of initial losses. Well try to capture the market by different means of marketing (Electronic, Print, and TV etc). When our product captures target proportion of market, well then plan for the extension of the firm, either by expanding the plant size in the same area or installation of new plant on new piece of land. Social and Economic Benefits and Environmental Assessment Some Environmental Benefits 1) Recycling can reduce water use in paper production by nearly 60% and energy consumption by 40%
2) Air pollution can be decreased by 74% and water pollution by 35% (these figures depend on factors such as transport distances and deinking methods used) 3) Disposal problems are reduced by using waste paper to produce new paper. For every ton of paper used for recycling, the savings are: At least 30000 liters of water 3000-4000 KWh electricity (enough for an average 3-bedroom house for a year). 95% of air pollution 4) Recycling half the worlds paper would free 20 million acres of forest land. 5) Recycling one stack of newspapers about six feet tall saves the life of one tree 35 feet tall. Recycling approximately one ton saves 17 trees
2. Recycled paper products are friendly to environment. Most of the people dont know about the concept of recycling. If awareness is created amongst the individuals, this will lead to increase in recycled products demand.
paper. The main problem is when glass and paper are collected together because if shards of glass get into the paper mills it could cause extensive damage to the machinery. Other items often mistakenly put in the recycling are: Pizza boxes often contaminated with food residue Carton board trays and oven able boards these are often laminated with plastic liner materials Drink cartons - these are not made from paper alone but comprise of about 75% paper, 20% plastic (polyethylene) and 5% aluminium foil (for long-life products). As they are an amalgam of materials, they are sometimes collected separately to ordinary paper. Click here to find out how you can recycle your cartons.
Recycled paper can be made into a wide range of everyday products including:
The main types of paper used everyday that can be recycled are:
Cardboard and other packaging paper Mixed or coloured paper Envelopes and Yellow Pages can sometimes be difficult to recycle and the availability of recycling collection facilities varies across the country.
Action Plan: Find out what paper our local authority can recycle by using the postcode locator. Visit the Yellow Pages Directory Recycling Scheme online to find out where I can recycle your Yellow Pages directories.
