Introduction (REPLACEMENT RADIADOR) Many major engine failures can be attributed to a faulty cooling system.

. If the vehicle is equipped with an automatic transmission, the cooling system also cools the transmission fluid and thus plays an important role in prolonging transmission life. A leak coming from a hole on the radiator can drain the antifreeze coolant and cause a failure in the cooling system. This manual is made to those persons who want to replace their own radiator, are tide on budget, and own a 2002 Jeep Liberty Sport V6 3.7L.

4. Allow the radiator to completely drain then close the drain fitting. Tools

5. Disconnect the cable from the negative terminal

of the battery.

6. Disconnect the electrical connector from the

Before Start electric fan motor.

1. Wait until the engine is completely cool before

beginning the procedure. 2. Apply the parking brake and block the wheels.

7. As the vehicle is equipped with an electric

cooling fan, it can be removed with the radiator as a unit.

3. Move a large container under the radiator drain to

catch the coolant. The radiator drain plug is located on the lower left side of the radiator. Direct the coolant into the container. With the expansion tank cap on, open the drain fitting.

8. Remove the fan mounting bolts. 9. Lift the shroud up until it clears the slots in the bottom bracket of the radiator, then lift the fan/clutch and shroud or the electric cooling fan

compartment together.

10. Loosen the hose clamps, and then detach the

radiator hoses from the fittings on the radiator. If theyre stuck, grasp each hose near the end with a pair of adjustable pliers and twist it to break the seal, then pull it off be careful not to distort the radiator fittings. If the hoses are old or deteriorated, cut them off and install new ones.

11. Remove the radiator support screwing out the

mounting bolts.

13. Pull the grille forward and release the hooks at the bottom.

14. As the radiator is equipped with an internal

cooler in the radiator, detach the cooler lines from the rear of the radiator. Use a drip pan to catch spilled fluid. Plug the lines and fittings.

and

carefully lift out the radiator. Dont spill coolant on the vehicle or scratch the paint.

18. After installation, fill the cooling system with the

proper mixture of antifreeze and water. Add coolant to the reservoir until it reaches the cold full mark. Wait five minutes and recheck the coolant level in the coolant tank and radiator, adding if necessary.

16. Whenever the radiator is removed from the vehicle, make note of the location of all rubber seals and their location. They should be put back exactly as originally installed to ensure proper cooling.

Installation 17. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure.

19. Install the coolant tank cap. 20. Start the engine and check for leaks. Allow the
engine to reach normal operating temperature.

Indicated by the upper radiator hose becoming hot. Recheck the coolant level and add more if required. The cooling system will push air out of the system, into the coolant tank after driving the vehicle for about one hour, let the system cool and add coolant to the coolant tank as necessary.

Libertys radiator can be replaced during a weekend working 3 hours. It is an easy task that requires common sense and a little bit of strength in your arms. Prevent a major engine failure, maintain a healthy car.

Conclusion The United States is known as a country where the workforce is extremely expensive; one man-hour can cost up to $100. Considering the tools required replacing the radiator, and the step by step guide provided above, it is expected that you can fix it yourself. The Jeep
