Aberystwyth Community of Gamers Committee Meeting 2nd November 2011 6pm Aber Vaults

Welcome Nick Brooks welcomes the committee to the meeting. Apologies Santhosh Kannan who has work documents to complete. Liam Edwards is also absent who has a work meeting. NUEL A summary of the tournament last week was given by the members of the committee and refs who played in it. Team Fortress was a loss, and Star Craft 2 was postponed. There is a League of Legends game coming up and a team has been organised for this. The tournament tonight for Team Fortress will not have ACOG taking part. NUEL can now post to ACOG2 to allow the speeding up of information to go around the committee. Something that was pointed out by the players in the NUEL is that there were no anti-cheating mechanisms. And they did not check with both sides the result of the tournament, so a fair assessment of them being unprofessional was given. The committee discussed the extent that we want to be involved with the NUEL, and one of the things mentioned was that is not a good idea to be part of them just because they are for universities. As a result the committee are open to alternatives that allow us to compete with other teams. Dave Haenze is going to investigate other leagues. Dave Haenze to investigate other leagues Budget Sam OHara informed the committee of his budget for the next month. Lloyd Thomas will be paid Keiran will be paid if the money made at the event is equal to or greater than the amount owed. This was passed by the committee for inclusion in the budget Equipment has a budget of 75 150 budget for a TV that has a minimum size of 24inchs This was passed for inclusion in the budget Tournaments will have 20 budget for advertising etc., although this has a contingency of 30

Socials have a 25 which is for prizes and other social requirements Other 80 which is going to be used for another month of VPS and domain

The Budget will be considered by each committee member and questions and approval will happen at the next meeting. Sam OHara also informed the committee that the community account has been set up and he is currently awaiting HSBC to send the account details. AOB Event Ads Lisa Newton and Jon Wilson will sort out the advertising for the event. PC Without advanced warning no game can be guaranteed to be able to run for the pc gaming side. Nick Brooks has no problem running the big non free games however this can only work if everyone has legitimate copies of the game and there will be no piracy tolerated. Ben Mayne has suggested that there could be a Minecraft building competition at the event for the Minecraft players. It is possible for Team Fortress 2 to take off due to the number of members that are currently part of ACOG. As we are on guild premises we have to enforce rules to stop people attending the event and committing acts of digital piracy. It has been suggested that there is a two strikes and youre out rule, where the first time it is a warning and ejection from the event, with the second offence getting ejection and banning from all future events. Dave Heanze said he is going to investigate Savage 2 to see if it possible to run in the LAN events we hold. Consoles Games such as MW3 will have to be tested to see if they can be LANed together so enable us to play the standard set up of one person per screen. Keiran Russell is to post games to Facebook. Liam Edwards to produce leader board for next meeting Ben Mayne and Dave Heanze will investigate Savage 1 and 2 Dave will investigate Server Files Christmas Meal

Lisa Newton has talked to James about the deposit and it is 5 per person to be in at the end of November Nags At the last social it has appeared that The Nags Head has been taken over, as a result we are currently unsure where we stand, as a result Sam OHara (at the suggestion of Rhys Short) will investigate what has happened. Sam OHara will talk to The Nags Head Gadget Show Jon Wilson has suggested running a trip to the gadget show live show in Birmingham during the Easter holidays as a break from revision. Keiran Russell pointed out the Jon Wilson that although it is a good idea, there have been ideas like this in the past and didnt get anywhere so it is better to run it himself to get people to go. ACOG Design Ben Mayne is looking to set up an Games development branch of ACOG. As pointed out by Rhys Short this could come under the umbrella organisations that ACOG has in its Constitution. However Keiran Russell said that this should be started separately and if it gets going then join ACOGs umbrella organisations. VPS Gaming Service It was suggested that due to the high number of bots playing in the games that non-members could be allowed to play with reserved slots for paid members. However it was pointed out that it would not be fair on people who had paid to use the VPS and now anyone can play. An alternative suggestion of having certain games running at certain times could be something that improves the situation. Also that non-team FPS could also be put on there to change the dynamic of the games the server is currently offering.
