The Book of the Dead will be available to receive the names of our dearly departed. The Shepherds Trust

The Shepherds Trust cares for those who always cared for us-our retired priests. They were with us to joyfully celebrate our marriage, baptize our children and also to support us during times of sadness and grief. Please take a copy of our Annual Newsletter home with you today-and read the personal stories about how priests have greatly influenced the lives of so many of us-including Maria Silva-Alto and Betty Klauke. The Shepherds Trust Collection takes place next weekend-November 13th and 14th . Special collection envelopes can be found in your package of offertory envelopes or at all the entrances to the church. Thank you for your generous support!

Memoir
One thing that I have done that made a significant change in my life is altar serving. My Mom signed me up without even asking me 15 minutes before the training classes started. I thought it would be boring and no fun but soon enough I had made many friends. Leaning what to do during Mass and all the different procedures was so much fun I soon forgot about not wanting to go. Every Sunday was a fun and interesting way to spend my time at church. Altar serving at the church also counts as volunteering. It looks good on your resume and on school applications. On the applications it counts as leadership activities in your religious community, and qualities of the dramatic arts like improvisation and being able to perform in front of large crowds. It also benefits you on a personal level. You become more reliable on God than on physical things. Also, praying becomes more important than before. If you altar serve you also get benefits like free baseball games, pizza parties, or getting to meet the bishops and priests face to face. Anybody between the time of First Communion and the time of graduation from high school can be an altar server. You can choose what time you serve, which Mass to serve at , and how often you serve. The only thing is that more altar servers are needed at the church. Many people are already being put on the schedule by themselves because of lack of servers. You dont need to spend more than a half hour after church for a few weeks to receive the training. Once you are ready you can serve whenever and instead of just sitting in church youll be doing something. If you decide to join I hope you will have as many wonderful experiences as me! By: Paul Zielinski (Paul & his brother Kevin received the Bishops Award for Altar Servers along with Eric Salter this past week. We thank all the members of the Altar Serving Ministry for their service to our parish.)
